The reason why I've always favored the Charm Travel Pro is it's ability to provide me with all the brushes I need to create a complete makeup look. From blending the eye shadow for smokey or natural makeup look, to contouring and highlighting my cheekbones. It practically has everything you need.

That's why I didn't backed down when a friend challenged me to use only Charm Travel Pro Makeup Brush Set. She's just not convinced that she'd be able to use all the makeup brushes in it and find it "too many". Well, CHALLENGED ACCEPTED, I say. :)

This look was done solely using Charm Sonia Travel Pro Makeup Brush Set

Face brushes:

1.  Foundation Brush - great for applying moisturizer, primer and foundation (duh!).

Tip: To avoid brush streaks, try patting the brush instead of sliding it away or downward.

2. Duo Fibre Brush - one of the most versatile brush. Good for foundation using the stipplling method, for applying cream products like cream blush or cream/liquid bronzer and of course for powdered products, too.

3. Powder Brush - great for pressed powder, setting powder, HD powder, blush, bronzer and body glitters.

Tip: To avoid moving your foundation, pat the brush onto the face instead of swiping it. Dust lightly to remove residue.

4. Concealer brush - use this to apply all sorts of liquid to creamy products. The tip is very precise to conceal specific spots.

5. Angled Blush Brush - doubles as a contouring and blush brush. This compact and quite precise angled brush makes it easy for me to contour my cheekbones and to apply blush in a more defined manner.

Eye Brushes:

1. Wet/Dry Eye shadow brush - great eyeshadow brush. The best by far from local brands I've tried. Picks up products well and it can be used for foiling method.

2. Angled Shadow Brush - makes those shadows appear more cats eyes and create the outer V flawlessly. Use this also to contour the bridge of your nose.

3. Blending Brush - Use this to apply cream products if you want a more softer feel and lighter pressure. It can also be used to set eye concealer.

4. Pencil Point brush - create a false crease, define the lower lash line like a pro with brush.

5. Flat Liner Brush - Use this either as a brow definer or eyeliner gel applicator.

6. Bent Liner Brush - a PRO MUA favorite. Bent liners are often mistaken as broken but it's actually one of the bet tool. For drawing in those winged liners to drawing in designs for body and face painting. You'll love the precision of this brush.

7. Eyebrow Defining Brush - one of the best brow brush I've used, it picks up products well and deliver it precisely on the brows. It's stiff and tough as it should be. Don't use this to line your lashline, this is not for gel liner.

8. Brow Spoolie - great for grooming brows or removing excess mascara for a more softer and natural look.

9. Lip Brush - Great for applying all kinds of lip brush. It's so precise, you don't need a lip pencil.

Yes, my friends also agree that I can go infomercial when I talk about Charm, but I just just can't help it. When something is really good, worth every single penny you earned, you just rave about it.

Too much?

Not for a beauty addict like me! :) I like to be prepared. Save for liquid foundation and eyeshadow palette (I already keep those in my office drawer), I bring a lot of makeup products with me just in case I need a quick touch up or do my makeup after work for drinks or dinner with friend, boyfriend or an event. I'm glad I have a car with me most times or I'll kill my back and shoulder toting these fancy babies with me all the time.

  1. Majolica Majorca Cream Liner - Accentuate the eyes (especially when I didn't apply eyeshadow)
  2. K Palette 24H Tattoo Eyeliner - This lasts the whole day and I don't need to prime my lids to use it. (for review, click here)
  3. Majolica Majorca Eyebrow Sword Pencil and Spoolie - To color my brows
  4. K Palette Tattoo Eyebrow Liner - This lasts the whole day and I can apply this even inside a moving vehicle. Great when I'm in a hurry. (for review, click here)
  5. VMV Tarte a Tan Bronzer - For contouring and for that golden glow.
  6. Benefit Cosmetics Bella Bamba Box 'O Powder Blush - Gives the right amount of color and glow to my cheeks. (for review, click here)
  7. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Sau Paulo - Flattering Pink Lipstick (for review, click here)
  8. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm - Sexy Nude lipstick (for review, click here)
  9. MAC Lipstick in Ruby Woo - All-time fave red lipstick (Can't leave home without this) (for review, click here)
  10. Binaca Breath Freshener - Do I really need to expound? :)
  11. KIT Spray with alcohol - To sanitize my hands before doing my makeup (click here to find out more about KIT)
  12. Smashbox Halo Powder - Over-all foundation, can be used wet or dry (FOTD using this powder, click here)
  13. Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss Sample - To give shine with the lipstick and lip creams
  14. L'oreal White Perfect Pearl Duo-Tone Whitening Powder Foundation - Highlighter and Undereye Setting Powder (the foundation is too light for my whole face)
  15. Smashbox Photo Ready Concealer - Concealer for the undereye  (FOTD using this powder, click here)
  16. The Body Shop Tea Tree Concealer - Concealer for redness, pimples and blemishes
  17. Snoe Beauty Beso Lip Balm - Keeps my lips hydrated
  18. Charm Pocket Brush Set - Has every brush I need to create a decent natural makeup look. (for review, click here)
  19. Charm Flat Top Retractable Kabuki - Provides an even coverage when using my foundation   (for review, click here)
  20. J&J Oil Control Film - preps face for retouch (not shown in pictures)

I also keep tissue and wet wipes on the inside pockets of my bag.
See end of this post on where to buy these products.

I know it's a lot and you probably don't need most it. God knows I don't use all of these everyday but I find comfort in the fact that just in case I see an EX, mortal enemy or worst, to meet with an important client, I can easily do my makeup to look presentable!

Funny because I'm not a fan of retouching! Hehehe!

I'll post soon what should really be in your makeup kit and I promise, it won't contain 20 products! :)

What about you? What's in your makeup kit?

There's something about bright pink fuchsia lipsticks that makes me act more like a girl. God knows and so many people I know that I'm hardly the feminine type. I'm boisterous and loud, edging obnoxious. I'm not afraid to speak my mind as much as I like making small talks. Sometimes, people think I have no funneling system and seemingly as if I have no care for the world.

It may look like that way, but I'm not entirely all that summation. Like every other person, there's another Shen lurking inside that only the closest to me see. So I try to interpret it with my makeup and fashion choices.

When I say that I didn't have style, that means that I just dress up accordingly or when I'm channeling that girly-girl inside of me... That usually mean, pink or ultra feminine shades.

Like this look for instance...

I seem to be a bit reliant on 3 shades now... all from my dependable Beauty Pro Cosmetics Sweet and Smokey Palette. A palette that embodies the two persona residing in yours truly's body. The True Brown, Tan Brown and Shimmer Beige.

For me, this is the ultimate neutral make up look. It's unbelievably easy to recreate that I'm confident I can do this look even when I'm driving (although I don't advise on it) or even when both my eyes are closed (not blinded since I wouldn't be able to apply the eyeshadows then).

Tan Brown serves more as a contour which gives the appearance I have deeper crease. The Brown smokes it out a little. While the Shimmer Beige brightens up the eyes.

I don't know if you noticed that I lined my eyes thinly this time. Unfortunately, I didn't take this chance to Lana Del Ray my eyes. I just wanted to define and wing it to draw away people from seeing how droopy my eyes really are.

This look is meant to enhance the eyes.

I wish I have smaller nose. I really do. God knows I'd jump on a chance to get a rhinoplasty... and its at its worst when haters point out how big and ugly it is. But I try to cope. As I'm sure you do, too, whenever people pull you down and say bad things about your appearance.

We just really have to survive and realize that we can't please everybody. And though we may love everything about ourselves, there's always a silver lining. Mine are my lips. Many have complimented me on how full my lips are and though it took awhile for me to find the confidence to accept it... I finally did and it  became more comfortable to saying "Thank you" and acknowledge it.

Now I play with my lips and makes it often as a highlight of my makeup looks.

Shen's  Makeup Tip:
If you don't have a matte lipstick (we know those can be a bit expensive), opt for lip liners! They are drying, true... But with a well conditioned lips, this can pass for a matte lipstick. I got NYX Lip Liner in Fuchsia from Digital Traincase for only Php150 (during a bazaar). Viola! Instant matte lippie!

People may not always understand us and we may be a bit confuse as to who we really are. But instead of sulking and feeling sorry for yourself, take this time to explore your other facets and experiment. Blogging helped me a lot to put a lot of things in perspective. And if you're reading this post and feeling gloomy, I advise for you to create your own blog (if you still haven't) and simply start writing/typing. It doesn't have to be complicated, just something that is straight from the heart. :)

You'll never know where it might lead you... for me, it led to me experimenting with a more feminine looks and playing with bold lip colors. Which in turn, made me into the blogger that I am now. :)

Have you ever been mocked or judged? Did you ever feel you don't have any beauty in you? Share your thought with me and let's talk about it!

I know I'm late in the NYX Xtreme Lip Cream bandwagon but I don't care. I'm so glad I spotted them at Digital Traincase booth at the Cosmetologie Event last Wednesday!

They are amazing! Very pigmented, easy to apply and totally worth the Php290 I paid for each of them! Best of all, they last quite long on the lips!
NYX Xtreme Lip Creme from Digital Traincase | Php290

Another great find from NYX through Digital Traincase. I love DT, they have a physical store, joins numerous bazaars and a facebook and multiply account! Getting that NYX fix is so easy with them!

I was tempted to get all all shades but I can't. I just couldn't justify it given that I have so many lippies at home! Hmm.. maybe next pay day I can get the two red shades I'm lemming for!

But for the meantime, here's my haul!

Welcome to Part Two of the Year End Favorites, Makeup Edition!

It's last day of the year!! But just before 2011 takes a bow and welcome 2012, here's the conclusion of my year-end favorites... the makeup part at least. :)

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams
Never regretted getting the the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. Wear shocking shades that are just amazing on the skin. There's color for every skintone and it really compliments tons of looks. I used on my banner and still continue to use for many looks I create. Although the lasting power is not at par with a lipstick, at least it's not as drying. Get this on sale now at Digital Traincase.

NYX Matte Lipsticks
I was skeptical in getting this but this has proven it's worth! Compared to the Soft Matte, Matte Lipsticks are more bold and striking in shade. It is after all lipstick. What's great is that compared to other matte lipstick from other brands, it's not as drying on the lips.

NYX Lip Liner Pencil in Fuchsia
Any lip liner can turn into a matte lip color, simply fill in your lips. Just remember to moisturize and prep your lips as it can dry your puckers like hell. But this is a happy discover, I found out. The brightness of this shade passed off as lipstick to many and it lasted longer than I though. I admit that I would choose this shade of matte pink over any other lipstick I own if I want staying power for the day.

NYX Girl Nail Polishes
Jheng recommended I get the NYX GIrl Polish when we visited Digital Traincase. SHe said that it lasts longer compared to other brands she's tried. And boy was she right. I hardly visited my manicurist this December since these polishes barely chipped! It's incredible. Really worth your money! And it's just Php100 a pop. I wish Sol would bring in more NYX Girl in the future.

Majolica Majorca lash Expander Frame Plus Mascara
This has got be my most favorite mascara this year. If you want length, this baby is the one for you. The unique comb-wand is designed specifically to distribute the fibers of the mascara to give that extra boost you need. Also, this is one of the most water-proof mascara ever! This is the mascara if you want on your lashes if your in full day's event.

Majolica Enamel Glamour Volume On Mascara
Compared to the previous mascara, you'll love the volumizing effect of this one. Again, this comes with a unique comb that coats the lashes for that full effect. The wand is designed to avoid clumps when layering the mascara on for a more voluminous effect.

Majolica Majorca Rouge Magic Lip Gloss
Hate sticky glosses but love the shine? This is exactly what you want. It's amazing on  the lips. One thing that I love is the fancy packaging. It's something that you can take out in public without feeling too awkward. This shade particularly is great for amping a nude lipstick.

Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Frame Plus in Blue Black
Same reason but this color is just amazing for coo-toned makeup looks.

Majolica Majorca Puff De Cheek Blush
I didn't liked this at first because I used a brush and it wasn't as pigmented as I'd like to be upon application... but when I started using the velour puff it came with the uber cute blush... viola! A pretty shade of pink sits atop my cheeks and I couldn't help but just love it!

Shu Uemura Color Atelier
Having this palette means more to than usual... When I was young I really wanted a Shu Uemura but Mom thought it a little too fancy for a young girl. This palette is special because we got to pick out the colors ourselves... it's not just another palette. It's mine and that speaks volume on why it is on my top faves this year!

Shu Uemura Face Architect Sheer Refining Mousse Foundation
I am in love with this foundation! If you don't believe me, here's a proof! If matte is what you want, this instantly gives it! And that's without drying your skin. Best buy, worth the money and I just love that it's mousse!

Shu Uemura x Wong Kar Wai Eye and Cheek Palette in Burning in Water
Yet another palette, this made the tops because of its bright vivid colors and exclusivity. Looking at this palette, it's as if they have created a palette devoted for me.

Benefit Cosmetics is the new player in town... at least in my country. When Benefit opened its doors this December, many went crazy and I was one of them. I've inly tried a few products from the brand prior to its launch here. That's why I was so ecstatic to try their cult faves.

Benfeit BeneTint
The product that started it all. Now I know what the raves were all about and why many women swears by Benetint. I have not come across a cheek-tint that is so easy to blend, no streaks and absorbs into the skin well that it mimics your natural blush. This is by far the best cheek-tints out there. And it lasts a loooong time.

Benefit They're Real Mascara
Have you watched this? That's the only convincing I need to get to try this msacara for myself. And I wasn't disappointed. Following the instructions on how to apply this mascara, I did achieve that false lash effect that only made my lashes longer, darker and thicker! And it's easy to remove!

to know more about these two product, click here and here.

MAC will always be a staple in my kit. No matter how expensive they get, we can never really doubt its quality and never question that whatever that MAC releases do make waves. This year, I got more into reds and nudes for the lipsticks. I finally gave in and tried MAC Ruby Woo (Thanks to my bestie for getting me this!)! And it's amazing! Best red lipstick yet! Next is Lady Danger, thanks to Jigs' recommendation, this orange-base red lipstick will come in handy for spring/summer. Another cult fave is the MAC Half 'n Half, that quite stole the spotlight from MAC Peachstock as it also gives that nice not-so-corpsey nude effect.

The Glitter and Ice Collection was a memorable collection for me because I got to witness the launch of it in Cebu! And my faves in the collection is the How Beautiful Beauty Powder that gives my skin a nice sheen that is just unbelievable! Don't miss out on it. I was never really a Dazzleglass girl, but Love Alert! was just too cute to refuse. I love that Dazzleglasses aren't sticky and have that brush applicator for precision. And Love Alert just complimented my Ruby Woo ever so nicely.

Covergirl Lip Perfection Bullet Lipsticks
A lipstick that doesn't does dryness but rather locks in moisture? Seriously, I thought it was just a marketing ploy. But this lip perfection really got to me that I bought several of it in different shades. Yes, it was that good. My favorite is Heavenly (a warm pink shade) and Hot Passion (a uber red lip color). I also love Dazzle (shimmery purple pink hue) and Sultry (brown pink).

What they don't tell you is that these lipsticks' staying power is just utterly amazing! It's last for more than 8 hours. It survives rinking, eating and... well, smoking. This is the red lipstick you want if you don't have time for retouch.

Wet n Wild Glassy Gloss in Clear
Nice clear gloss are hard to come by and these topped for me. It's easy to spread, great for quick touch-ups; and affordable, too!

Wet n Wild ColorIcon Bronzer in Princess
This is one of my favorite contouring powder. That's why even if it's shattered (huhuhu!) I still kept it. It's intensely pigmented and great for warm-toned girls like me! If you want an affordable contouring powder with a bit of glits, this is one for you to try.

Fanny Serrano Long-Last Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner
A new arrival makes it way into the top just because it's really great and that's that!

Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipstick
Save the best for last! This lipstick exceeds a lot of my faves because of the fanciness of it! Never be afraid to touch up in public when you whip out something as elegant and classy as the Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipstick. When time calls for appearance-is-everything, this is the lipstick you need to have with you! It's as classic as Chanel Bag, a Versace shades and a pair of Louboutin pumps. And though I don't have any of those three, I'm a happy-camper with my Wild Pink Pure Color lippies.

That's it!! That's my fave for year 2011. Although there are mainstays:

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation, Shu Uemura Nobara Cream Foundation, Maybelline Gel Liner, Nars Orgasm Blush, MAC Brow Gel in Girl Boy, Urban Decay Primer Potion, Maybelline Clear Smooth Mineral Blush, MAC Studio Fix Concealer, Blinc Mascara, Majolica Majorca Cream Liner, Revlon Age-Defying Concealer, MAC Eye Khol in Fascinating, PureGlow Blush in Rosiest Rush, Smashbox Photo Finish Primer and NYX Jumpo Pencil in Milk.

Makeup now is such a big part of my life given that I write about it everyday of my life...

When I watched the September Issue, a documentary of Vogue and Vogue USA Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, there's a part when she was asked what her family thought of her life... It was obvious by her facial expression that her family doesn't really take her job seriously..

I often get that vibe from other people with this blogging. We may not tackle economics, the latest news, world hunger and lack of peace but we provide something special that many appreciates. And with that, I'm content.

For year 2012, I only wish for more time to write, review and share all the things I can about the latest products that may be the answer to your ultimate beauty dilemmas. I sort of live for that now... and quite happy to be doing so... :)

Happy New Year!
Welcome 2012!

Vacationing was fun but one thing I missed was using makeup. This time around I left my usual paraphernalia's and kept it minimal with a cheek tint, liquid bronzer and face powder. Barely there makeup. It made me miss a lot of my colorful ones at home!

Many have asked what lipstick I used in this review post and I figured it's high time I share it with you!

NYX Matte Lipstick in Angel

Surprise, it's NYX Matte Lisptick in Angel!

I know, it's yet another NYX lipstick. But can you blame me? NYX do have nice selections when it comes to their colored lippies. I was prepared to write off NYX Matte Lipsticks after having my fill with their Soft Matte Lip Creams. Boy I didn't know know I was in for some treat with these.

Compared to the Black Label and their Round Lipsticks, the NYX Matte Lipstick is more pigmented. The shade glides on smoothly. Best of all, it is matte but not too entirely drying on the lips. It was a good thing I didn't close any doors. Had I not been more adventurous with my makeup choices, I would have missed out a lot on this.

But I also noticed is that I don't have an exact shade like this one among my liptstick army. But NYX RL in Spellbound and Colour Collection in Angel Berry came to a close second and third.

NYX Matte Lipstick in Angel
NYX Matte Lipstick in Angel appears pink on the photos but it has a bit more reddish tint on it and depending on the lighting can appear quite coral.

I notice two things though, that the Matte Lipstick (3.3oz) looks shorter compared to my other bullet lisptick and that it's not as long wearing s claims to be. It takes my next meal or drink for the color to fade a bit. But not the kind of fading that prompts me to retouch asap. Still, I think they can do away with this claim.

NYX Matte Lipstick in Angel

NYX Matte Lipstick in Angel

Tips:

Although most matte lipsticks I encounter are drying, NYX Matte ones isn't as torturous to the lips compared. Better prep your puckers with your favorite lip balm prior to using. Better yet, prep them already a night before (or do this ritual nightly) to prevent further drying and chapping of the lips.

Make your matte lippies last longer by applying a layer of lipliner similar and closest to the shade of matte lisptick you are using, filling in the lines of your lips.

Take step further in ensuring a matte lips all day long by doing the following. Apply your lipstick 3x but in between, blot excess. This seals in the shades more into your lips.

I also used the Beauty Pro Cosmetics Sweet and Smokey Palette for this classic neutral makeup look. :)

Oh! Catch Beauty Pro Cosmetics at the St. James Bazaar this weekend! :)

Friday again!! Yey!

I seriously don't think that I need to review this HD blush line from NYX because of the countless reviews on the internet. I honestly am not an HD girl. Never really got into the hype in a way that I would clamour to try the newest HD line out there. I learned a long time a go that if you know what you're doing, you're likely to get the result you want, no matter what product you're using.

Just so happen that we are in world where in HD is newest thing and almost everyone is using HD Technology. Heck, even my mobile has one. You see, HD is more crisp and clear, giving a better viewing experience.

But I digress. Buying the NYX HD Studio Photogenic Grinding Blush wasn't for it's HD appeal... Rather, I bought it because I was in serious hunt for a nice pink blush. I visited Sol's bazaar in Megamall a few

I recently got a hold of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. I tried my best to stop the urges but it's quite difficult. I've been in and out of Brigitte's blog about the NYX Matte Lip Creams and I finally gave in and visited Sol at her physical Store called Beauty and Geeks, at Eton Life Building (across Rob Galleria). I asked her to reserve me Monte Carlo, Amsterdam, San Paolo, Addis Ababa and Stockholm. It did not disappoint.

Ever since I watched Captain America: The First Avenger, I've developed this desire to own a red matte lipstick and NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams immediately was the first thing I thought of. I knew that their reds are amazingly pigmented, worthy of the 1950's glamour. I've always been fascinated with women in those era to a point that I think I one of them in my past life. How does a woman dressed up when Nazi were trying to take over the whole world?

But enough of that and let's get back to the beauty deal. Suffice it to say that I'm very happy with all my NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams that I've been wearing it almost everyday!

I paired the bold pink shade of San Paulo with a neutral makeup made up of neutral pigments from Ellana. Of course I use my new favorite blush from Shu Uemura called Medium Red as its very pigmented to partner with San Paulo Lip Cream.

See? See how it gives that flawless matte effect? What I love about the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams is that it doesn't stain the lips nor does it dry it out like most mattes. It's easy to remove which a good thing. But not so when you're eating since you would definitely need to retouch right after or risk looking like you applied a lip pencil on the edge of your lips.

It's easy to apply as well using the sponge tip applicator and I didn't feel the need to use my lip brush. Though I'm sure it'll look more flawless should I use one.

I just love the "malinis" effect of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. Wearing bold colors when its matte is less "out there" compared to its frost or satin counterparts. I still managed to look decent.

If you ask me, NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are a must-have for those who want the matte effect. It's one of the best that I've tried. And true to its name, it's very matte and soft against the lips.

What do you think? It this something you think you would try as well? Have you tried NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams? Share them with me please!

I got mine at www.facebook.com/DigitalTraincase via their store at Building 1, Eton Life, Ortigas.

I can't seem to shake the addiction that I have for NYX Round lipsticks. Ever since I saw them on YouTube and American beauty bloggers ome three years back, I was hooked. I remember waiting for weeks to get a hold of these babies ordering them over at Cherry Culture for only $.99 each. And still manage to order more of them now they are available here in the Philippines even if it's price hiked up.

The choices are endless, you see! They just have so many shades to choose from. I thought I've hoarded enough pink lipstick shades from NYX Round Lipsticks but still I see more that I like. Puts some of my MAC Lipstick to shame sometimes.

I am really a pink lipstick addict! LOL! Happy to have two of the NYX Round Lipstick Summer Collection 2011 in my stash. :)

More photos and swatches after the jump!
