Product Feature/Review: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

To say I like the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams is an understatement. I'm actually addicted to it. Ever since I bought them at Sol's physical store at Beauty and Geeks, I was hooked. I would normally wait a while to use a product for the need to take pictures of them first, but not with these ones. I was already testing them out as soon as I got home.

Main reason I was suddenly induced to try matte lipies, like I mentioned in my NYX San Paulo FOTD post, was because of the movie Captain America: The First Avenger. After seeing Peggy (Hayley Atwell in IRL) wear matte red lipstick falwlessly, it made me crave for the same shade and texture. I was supposed only going to get Monte Carlo and Amsterdam. Of course, being the addict that I am couldn't resist not getting the San Paulo, Stockholm and the ever popular Addis Ababa. Sol actually was quite shocked Addis Ababa was my last pick due to my penchant for pink lippies. Told her I had too much pink lippies already... then, I thought, "what the heck!" Might as well get me one and live to regret it or not get one and live to regret it!

Fall in love with the velvety softness of these matte lip creams in colors that can only compliment your skintone.

There honestly wasn't a dud in any of there shades I picked. Every one of them looked nice against my medium fair skintone.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream really changed my mind about matte finishes on lipsticks. This product is incredibly soft when applied, almost velvety, that it just glides on to the lips. It's not messy either which is a plus nor does streak on the outside lines of your lips. Major plus points.

Impressive pigmentation may be the very first thing you'll notice when you've swiped the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams against the lips. A few minutes from application, the soft cream consistency will dry into matte finish. You can opt to apply a clear gloss to make shine. This I skip altogether to keep true to the Peggy Carter look I want to achieve. I use a two good swipes to ensure the colors are evenly distributed. Sometimes, what you have on the sponge tip is enough to cover your lips.

Staying power will last until your next meal and/or drink. I was left with what resembles like a lip liner application. Remember those Chola FOTD with eyewinged tips and strong lip liners? That's exactly how it would look. Although there is a nice stain on the lips, its by no means like your regular 24/7 stay-on lipstick. It's not the same as the ELF I've been asked to compare to. NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams aren't for longevity use. But this poses no problem for me, since it's easy to apply even when you're at the dinner table. Like I said, no messy streaks.

Consistensy is not drying but if you have dry lips, please apply a lip balm or any kind of lip moisturizer.

Most lippies can really be drying like face makeup can irritate skin. So care for your lips the way you do for your face. My lip regimen, Exfoliate and Moisturize.

1. Exfoliate using a old toothbrush of better yet, a soft baby toothbrush. Use a Ellana Lip Scrub to help stimulate exfoliation.
2. Moisturize with your favorite non-allergenic lip balm. I use EOS.

You'll want this if you've been on a look out for a matte lip product that is easy to use and has all the shades you'd want for a matte finish.

The prixe isn't so bad either at Ph330 each tube.

Monte Carlo | Amsterdam | Addis Ababa | San Paulo | Stockholm

Monte Carlo is a blue based red lip color that reminds me of MAC Ruby Woo.
Amsterdam is somewhat a brighter version of MAC Russian Red that is just amazingly eye-catching.
Addis Ababa is the brighest pink in the collection with a purple-base. This is truly a must-have.
San Paulo is a more relaxed lighter shade of pink with jsut a tinge of peach in the mix. This is a color I can wear everyday, with anything.
Stockholm is reminiscent of the coveted MAC Peachstock and gives that sweet nude effect for any look, but most especially for smokey ones.

Stockholm and Amsterdam on me

San Paulo on me

Now that I've had the taste of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, I can only hope they don't discontinue this but rather create more shares that we can choose from. As much as I love my NYX Round Lipsticks, MAC's and so forth, I am almost sure I'd use up the Soft Mattes first. :)

Have you tried NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams? Yes or no, what shades are your favorite?

I got my NYX Soft Mattes from Digital Traincase via their store Beauty and Geeks at Eton Life Building 1, Ortigas.
