When was the last time you used a body mist?

I know most girls reading this blog is almost within the same age range as I am (late 20's) and remember the days that Victoria Secret and Bath and Body colognes well all the rage! Everyone should have one! I know I went and braved Greenhills mad hours just to get my hands on Cherry Blossoms and Love Spell!

But times a changing and despite the fact that I love these two brands to in my youth, I do not go for fads anymore. I prefer to find my own style especially when it comes to my perfumes and EDT's. That same goes for my Body Mists.

Personally, I am the type of girl who uses body mists everyday... but I'm not willing to settle for less.

In comes Benetton's New Body Mists! High time I say since Benetton is known for believing individuality and that no matter what color your skin is, you matter. You got to admit that the reason you loved UCB is because they are the first brand to have Asian models on their ads and it made them relatable to us Filipinas.

And with a collection of Body Mists inspired by different parts of the world, I believe that this brand just came full circle.

My Picks...

Stem Cell has been around for nearly decade but given how small the practice of this treatment here in Philippines is along with the high price tag that accompanies it, only the rich and famous can afford to have this kind of treatment.

Quite recently, Stem Cell is finally made available for everyone. Thanks to the ingenious mind of Flawles CEO, Ruby Gan who is always on a look out for the best best thing and making it her mission to have it within ach by every Filipina. Come in simple 3-set skin care line. A facial foam, day cream and the night serum.

But what is Stem Cell anyway? If this is the first thing you're reading about this treatment, it's another anti-aging procedure. Stem cells are what they call undeffiriented cells that helps our preexisting cells rebuild and also create new ones. As you all know as we age, our cells deteriote and it along with the production of collagen. Hence, our skin looking dull and lifeless and we are more prone to fine lines and wrinkles.

And the mission of every beauty cosmeceuticals is to create that one product line that helps regenerate our cells. In comes Stem Cell research which is not only used for aesthetic purposes. Like many other scientific discoveries there is, Scientist stumble upon the regenerating properties of stem cell for a mwore altruistic purpose. But give that it can make us look younger, then they started developing it as an anti-aging treatment.

Can you believe that it comes from a very rare genus of apple? Yes, the wonder of Stem Cell treatment comes from a fruit that has the same properties as human stem cells. Works just as great and without sacrficing huma stem cells.

Endorsed by no other than the fierce and fabulous, Divine Lee. Despite having grown with a silver spoon, this diva knows that not everything should be expensive. Being independent has made her discerning before making a purchase. Her busy lifestyle has also made her prone to aging faster, all with her 24/7 schedule as host, model and blogger. That's why she isn't taking any chance and uses Flawless Stem Cell Line. A great move for her as her career needs her glowing and looking fab all the time.

When using an anti-aging skin care, you don't track it by your age. You track it through your lifestyle and better yet, check the state of your skin. And if you see that your skin is looking worst as the days go by, then it's probably hight time to look into as skin care line that targets your specific skin concerns. Go go glow and use the new Flawless Skin Care Line.

I personally like that it doesn't come in complicated steps. You can still use your toner and  eye cream when you start with this line. Although I am not yet that in a rush to start with a complete anti-aging line, I'm still taming down my acne and trying to renew my skin with pretty hardcore peeling stuff, I am glad to have this on hand.

Interested with the new Flawless Stem Cell Line? :)

Having been a victim of breakouts (thanks to my love of spicy food and egg-which I'm allergic to), I had to stop all my current skincare that's been doing their job well in exchange for some Dermatologist prescribed medication along with some treatments. My breakouts as you can see in the photos reminds you of the moon or a geeky girl ridden with pubescent acne. Not a nice sight. Believe me it was worst a few days ago.

The boyfriend and I decided to hit Manila's latest hot spot, IHOP (International House of Pancakes). Having been introduced to this place through some of the shows I watched and of course, people I know from the States who compares it to our own, Pancake House.

We visited IHOP at 7:30 a.m. and got seated right around 8 a.m. Not too bad of a wait since it was their second day of opening.

Review will start not with the food but with the service. Watching Top Chef, Hell's Kitchen and my current favorite Kitchen Nightmares, I've learned that the reception area is vital in making a restaurant a success. I believe that IHOP relies on the fact that they are currently a hype right now that they have allowed their frontliner to fall behind the service. I only speak from experience but I didn't like at all how agitated and frequently consulting each other the two girls were when we came in and asked to be seated.

It wasn't how I wished to start my day, especially having had no food in my system. I was irritated to put it mildly. And I wasn't alone. There were several patrons who I observed were disappointed with how the two receptionists handled the seating reservation.

But I didn't want that to ruin my day. Base on the photos and reviews of a lot renowned food bloggers, the food are must try.

But was it?

Another great artist that I admire is Laura Mercier, her application of art into makeup artistry is truly inspiring. Her color theory is amazing. How she comes up with every collection makes me feel that I still need to learn more about this form of art. And having perfected the flawless face has earned her rightful place in every women's vanity in the world.

If you've been saving all your money for the right time to buy the best camera for beauty blogging or to up your game in taking good photos of your makeup and skin care, then this is probably the right time. Summer is such a great time to buy a camera and start polishing your photography skills. The longers days allows you to practice taking photos under the sunlight, the best lighting source if you ask me.
Before buying DSLR camera, I started with a point and shoot Sony that my aunt gave me during Summer vacation. It was one of the most enlightening time for me. I learned how great shots were taken using natural sunlight.

Pixel Pro has great promos this Summer, aptly entitled Endless Summer, and they've got great promos for some of the most coveted and well-recommended point and shoot and demi-DSLR cameras in the market. From Canon S110 (Php24,000), Lumix LX7 (Php16,280) and in my wishlist, Canon Powershot GX1 (Php35,600).

Aside from that, they've got cameras on sale for as low as Php4,792 (Samsung ST77). Take a look at the photo posters here for your next camera.

My recommendation is get Samsung NX200 for only Php22,570 with Free 4GB!

Aside from that you get a free Monopod for every point and shoot camera priced at Php12,000 and up! Take your game a level higher and start vlogging!

Happy shopping!! :)

Got a chance to try some of Are You Red-dy? by Color Sentional Lasting Lip Color by Maybelline. Encased in a crimson bejeweled-like casing, I was impressed immediately. I love it when drugstore brands up the ante when it comes to packaging. If you're curious to find out how they fare, read on.

Hello there, ladies! It's another Manic Monday!

My skin can freak out at the most inconvenient times. The only time that I have clear skin is right after my period. Which, by the way, is the best time to get yourself photographed. I can't remember who, but a certain popular celebrity photographer back in the 90's only photographs women for an important shoot (like billboards, magazines etc.) a day or two after their menses.

Loving the BYS Colour Change Nail Enamel in Blue, Php339. I'm such a fan of aquamarine and this shade is definitely one. One, I think, that I'd love to rock for the summer. :)

If you're wondering if the Colour Change works, I wouldn't know since I haven't tested it yet. :) But I embeded here a video review from WinterRose84 on Youtube to show you that this nail polish works. :)

Are you liking this polish much as I do? When was the last time you tried something as bright and purrrty as this?

grabbed from Mega Magazine facebook page

I really don't consider myself as an influencer. After all when I started blogging, all I wanted was a venue where I can talk about makeup non-stop. Even now, even with several people telling me that I'm providing good resources and have made a name or voice in the beauty industry, I still get dumbstruck. I consider myself as a regular person and think of you as friends whom I can talk to when there's something really interesting is going on in the beauty world.

But given the fast pace of the digital world and almost everyone is now online, I guess I can finally admit that this blog has made a mark to some beauty addicts out there. To you, my dearest readers, most especially.

When Mega Magazine approached me for this interview, a lot of thoughts came to me. Do I finally acknowledge the fact that I am one of Manila's top beauty blogger? Perhaps... but not quite. I still go back to my roots. Remember the first day that I made a blog post. And I can safely say that no matter what medium you are using, passion is the key for your voice to heard. Never lose that. When you start with your heart set on it, it will fulfill you. Recognition, accolades... they, to me, are the sweet cherry on top.

Thank you, Maxinne and Mega magazine for seeing Shen's Addiction as one of the leading influencers in the beauty world. The girl in me 4 years ago sheds tears of joy for this humble recognition.

But of course, I'm not alone in this article. Fellow beauty mavens, Liz of Project Vanity and Martha of The Beauty Junkee, are also featured for this article. Read all about their stories in the February Issue of Mega Magazine.

If you're interested in reading the rest of the interview, I posted it here.

Valentine's Day is just not about couples. It's all kind of love and that includes love for one's self. If you find yourself alone on the Heart's day, here's a few suggestions that I think you'd enjoy. :) But first, Stay away from love songs, movie marathon of love themed movies and sweets!

Have Revlon outdone itself with the new ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick? Read more...

As a huge fun of almost all their lip colors, I have high hopes for this new collection.

Hmm.. have you noticed a bit of downgrade when it comes to the ColorStay packaging? Let me know if it's just me. But I am not liking the container for this one. Although the quality seems strudier than the ones from Wet n Wild and BYS, and that each container matches the shade of the lipstick, it isjust not at par with some of their previous lipstick collection. I must check out Revlon counters soon and see if this has been going on for awhile.

Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick glides on smoothly and color payoff is quite amazing. The pigmentation is buildable but you barely need an effort. It looks and feels like a lipstick..... but wait at least 3 or 4 minutes... like those thriller shows, the lipstick starts to change. It becomes tacky and when you smack your lips together they stick. It was very uncomfortable. Especially since I hate sticky lippies (that's why I love lip butters!).

And guess what? The color transfers from from upper to my lower lip. It reminds me of Max Factor's Lipfinity when you forgot to use the gloss. It's that scotch tape-like stickiness that irks the hell out of me. Worst is that it settles on my lines (I've got many of those on my lips) and it dries out my lips even. :( And it's not that long lasting either. :(

So sad because they have such amazing, truly unbelievable color selections. I mean, just look at these shades? Aren't they gorgeous? I love all of these colors. Especially Iconic, Couture and Muse.

Okay... I really hate giving bad reviews. But these lipsticks are kind of a dud for me. It's unlike any other lip colors I've tried and believe me, I'm very easy to please. And despite the fact that I did my best to like this collection, I didn't. I only kept on using them because of the lovely shades. :(

You can definitely still try them out but always keep them close at hand if you don't want to experience that kind of lip liner effect where all your lipstick are gone except at the edge and corners of it? Only a few people can pull-off the Chola look.

Sadly, I've got to give a thumbs down to the Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick. I'm sure they've got more collections that'll come soon that I'll love and gush to pieces.

If you want to check out some of the lip products I love from Revlon, click the links below:
  • Revlon Colorburst Lipstick - now this one has some luxe feel and totally great pigmentation.
  • Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks - oldie but goodie, definitely amazing shades and glides on splendidly!
  • Revlon Lip Butters - my favorite, they're like lip balm but doesn't compromise intensity!
  • Revlon Just Bitten - I use to hate lip stain... until these came along.

Have you tried the new Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick? What do you think of it?

It's already Valentine's day?

Weren't we just celebrating new year and making resolutions? How time flies! Can't believe that one and half month of 2013 is over! But enough about that. Today, it's all about L-O-V-E. Something I know most of you can relate to. Yiheee..

Valentine's Day do have a way of milking more sweetness and gushiness that we are only too eager to squeeze! I know, I am! As the proverbial beauty junkie and hopeless romantic, I take Valentine's Day seriously. There must be flowers, candles, fine dining and gifts. That will surely need a nice dress, heels and of course, the makeup look.. And if I can get away with it, a background music of "Kiss Me". (Yeah, I know, it's playing in your head already!)

And boy do guys don't mind the frivolities on Heart's Day. They kinda use this to make up for every missed monthsary, birthday or times they should have been sweet to you. Am I right? Or am I right? So get ready to be a princess, it is your day!

And to help you out, here's a simple FOTD that's great to take from Day to Night.

It's still simple, nothing smokey. We want to look great, not different. And since you might want to reward him with a kiss or two, a sweet lip color is great. You definitely don't want him wiping off red lipstick after kissing you. That's a bit of a downer when you're trying to build up a romantic Valentine's evening.

We also used a lighter foundation here. Nothing that would stain his pillow... In case you choose to stay over at his place (wink! wink!)

Being in love and having that perfect someone really adds that a certain spark to our eyes, a knowing smile to our lips and a little skip in our steps. Love, it becomes everything once you have it.

Valentine's Day for all it's worth is a celebration of LOVE. Enjoy this day but don't be a diva. If you're single or your guy is not one to celebrate, call your friends and go and paint the town red instead. :)

I just got to post this video from the latest collection of Majolica Majorca for Spring Summer 2013 and their 10th anniversary, Secret Blink. It looks like they are revamping their Lash Expander Frame Plus and introducing something else for the lashes. Curiouser and curiouser.

I don't know about you but I am in love with the video. It's reminds me of Tim Burton's Alice and Wonderland. I just love the imagination of MJ people. They are continuously surprising me with their ideas!

I've got to be honest, I'm not a lotion girl. If I can skip, I would. This has got to be the least thing I like to do when I do my morning my evening routine. But I have tried to be vigilant and consistent with taking care of my body. After all, I'm not getting any younger.

Back in high school and college, I would hoard on Nivea's Whitening Lotion. Especially so when they came out with an evening variant which is a tad more creamier. I am in love with both scents and that's the only reason why I would painstakingly rub it down my body even when I'm already ready to doze of.

But here comes something truly interesting from Nivea, no less. The very first body whitening and repair serum, Nivea Body UV Whitening Cell Repair and Protect Serum SPF 25. A unique product indeed.

So, I included lotion back to my routine and started using this. For the past weeks, I notice that my skin looks lighter and softer (as expected).

Given the potency of this product, containing real Vitamin C, nature extracts, UV filters and Hydra IQ, it's not surprising to see results even just after two weeks of using it. Not too significant but deifnitely something I noticed.

And unlike the Express Hydration lotion, this one gets absorbed easily to skin. Something that I really really need in a lotion since I hate the sticky-icy feel that some lotions have.

Here more about Nivea Body UV Whitening Cell Repair and Protect Serum SPF 25:
(which you'll also find at the back of the tube)
  1. Advanced UVA & UVB cell protection with SPF25 and PA++
  2. Nourishes sun damaged skin
  3. Enriched with Licorice for fairer skin tone
  4. Enhances and supports the skin renewal process
  5. Infused with Hydra IQ and Red Seaweed
  6. Enriched with natural Vitamin C from Camu Camu
  7. Enriched with 95% anti-oxidant pure Vitamin C derivative
  8. Light and non-sticky texture
  9. Gives more radiant and fairer skin tone all over the body
  10. Gives smooth and even skin tone all over the body
  11. Skin compatibility is dermatologically approved

The consistency is very watery, unlike other lotions I've tried. It's easy to spread. Although you might use more than your usually pump or squeeze, at least it's easily absorbed and lives only a faint fruity scent. And the price isn't so bad either for Php219.00 :)

As you all know, I'm a big fan of Nivea and have seen great results from the products. But as always, you've got to try it for yourself to see if this one works for you. So if you're the lotion-iffy girl like me, and wants something not too sticky, expensive and effective.. then go grab yourself a tube of Nivea Body UV Whitening Cell Repair and Protect Serum SPF 25. :)

Oh! And don't forget that this baby has SPF 25 PA ++, good enough protection for everyday use. Like today. I'm meeting up with my beauty blogger friends at Makati and I'm sure the sun will be insistent yet again. :)

SmartBro just launched something amazing! With a great TVC to boost featuring the Filipino musicians that molded the sountrack of my life, Ely Buendia, Raimund Marasigan, Rico Blanco and Barbie Almalbis.

Checking out the video, I totally can relate with how technology is continuously upgrading and changing how we interact. Looking back, I didn't realize that I would spend almost half a day online. Never did I imagine that a simple hobby could turn into something great... albeit a bit demanding. One that I never thought would require a good internet connection.

Funny how makeup and internet is now intertwined. Did you know that studies show that beauty conglomerates are first in trying out new digital marketing strategies and creating more apps to present their brands via online? Yup! We beauty lovers are lucky to have brands who are forward thinkers and realize that digital is the way to go... as for us beauty bloggers, we are in the right path.

That's why I'm super addicted to SmartBro Pocket Wifi, now more than ever.

Smart Communications just rolled an incredible news, their SmartBro now has 4x more fiber power! Fiber Optics as you all know is still the best possible way to acquire a good internet signal. It can provide at least 1 Tbps! TAnd with  Smart having 54,000 kilometers of fiber optics across the country, we are guaranteed speedier connection all the time.

Being on SmartBro with 4x Fiber Power just means that you're on wide makeup counter with lot of time to spend testing and swatching and playing with makeup without getting interrupted by rude sales associate. Now wouldn't that be that the sweetest thing?

Affordable, too, for only Php2,995. And the best above everything else is that this is mobile internet! That means a chance to blog practically anywhere and everywhere. To be able to download, stream HD makeup videos for inspirations, faster loading time and unlimited online capabilities and a chance to work and research on designs for possible layouts  for my blog.

I can't imagine not being able to blog, look at new products and research on the best of the best out there. I follow a lot of blogs and I hate having idle time. With all the things going in my life, I don't ever want to stop. Who would anyway? There are so many things online now and for girls like me who hates traffic (both offline and online), this is my best bet.

Instant connection couldn't get any better than this. And if it does, Smart is surely the one doing it. :)

Get to know more about SmartBro 4x More Fiber Power through their website, http://www1.smart.com.ph/pages/imaginemore. :)

And if you haven't had a chance to watch the new Smart Imagine More TVC, here's it is:

I get chills whenever I watch this commercial. But more so when I imagine all the bandwidth I have access to thanks to the SmartBro 4X Fiber Power. :)

You've been seeing BYS Cosmetic from this blog lately, that's because I was lucky enough to meet the general manager and I was struck by her passion and dedication for the brand. She's super hardworking and she loves what she doing. I can't help but be drawn to her and of course to BYS cosmetics .

It's what I would describe as a no nosense makeup. Housed in simple packaging, priced reasonably, easily accessible and provides a wide array of products. Albeit some of her their products are both hits and misses, it can be said that BYS is really for everyone.

One of its hits is the BYS Matte Foundation, recommended by Sam Gallardo, a talented Marketer and Makeup Artist, she said that it's a must-have for girls who have oily skin. "You will only need one pump." She advised.

"BYS Matte Foundation (Sand Beige). Matte Foundation has no shine or luminous quality and guess what? That is exactly what some of us look for in a Foundation."  - www.fashionaddict.com.au

That day, I took home BYS Matte Foundation in Sand Beige, a mid-tone shade with yellowish tint (see swatch below). I notice that matching shades using BYS ones are quite easy. There's a lot of yellow-based shades that you can choose from.
BYS Matte Foundation is very creamy mousse-y consistency that is great for skin that is really oily and have a lot of blemishes that needs covering. Typically, I wouldn't be thinking of buying a foundation worth less than Php1,000. There is comfort for me in buying expensive foundation from a well-known brand. It makes me feel I'm taking care of my skin more. Especially if that skin is very oily, prone to break outs and comedones.

Having tried this latest foundation, I noticed a few things,

  • How smooth it applies on to the skin, with our without primer.
  • Provides great coverage that eliminates the need to use concealer for my acne marks and spots.
  • A little goes a long way, like what Sam said.
  • Gives a incredible matte finish
  • Goes on like second skin and blends well
  • A bottle will last you a long time
  • Has great staying power
  • Keeps oilies at bay for at least an hour or two.

Sand Beige is almost like warm beige in Bobbi Brown. It's lighter on my skin but given its acidity, it melds well into my skin after a few minutes. It's great for everyday especially if your skin needs to a lot of coverage from pimples and acne marks, even redness.

The only problem I have with this foundation is the scent. I'm not a fan but good thing it's not bad that it's completely off-putting. I notice that BYS has a lot of scented products and I'm glad that I like most of them.

Take a look at my FOTD below. :)

How do like this look?

When I was young, these guys... they were my life. Since there was no internet or itunes. We listened to the radio and waited for their songs to play. We called in and voted for them to be on the top spot. We bought their albums, from tapes to CD's. Lined up for their concerts and took blurry pictures of them through our analog cams.

Their songs, they were the soundtrack of my life. I was a die hard Rivermaya and Eraseherheads fan. Firewoman by Barbie was my break up anthem. Oh yeah! I see a lot of you agreeing. :)

For a time, I thought that I wouldn't be able to hear them sing or create music again with all the technology eating up the music scene. But seeing them take advantage of it and ignite their creativity... now, that's what I call making music history.

And I'm glad that you kids can see the artists I looked up to when I was young... er. :)

Self-adhesive false lashes are heaven-sent, do you agree? Especially the 3S Lashes from Beauty and Minerals. It's ultimately my most favorite false lashes. It's the easiest to use but will totally change how you look in an instant. It took awhile for me to whip this out and use it since I've never really

Here's a comparison of my right eye with 3S Pre-glued lashes and my left eye without it. Big difference, right? :)
