Isn't every girl's dream to be a bride someday?

But we didn't realize what work was needed in order to look fabulous on your wedding day. Seeing my cousin get ready for hers, the planning she did and the countless details she had to deal with, I became a proud ate. She looked gloriously gorgeous on her wedding day and she made me realize that happily ever after do exist.

But not all of us can afford a morning of pampering, a makeup artist nor a grand wedding. Rather we make do with what  we have and make sure that our big day is the day that you'll always remember. And for those who want to squish a penny or two, do your own makeup instead. Afraid to take chances? Why? Kate Middleton did it! If a future queen can do it, then so can you!

So I created this quick and easy bridal makeup look for that aspiring penny-saving bride. The steps are shorter and will guarantee you a flawless look. And you'll still look like you, only that you've become a radiant bride! And this look won't take forever to do! :)

Notice that I didn't use a mascara or eyeliner but opted for false lashes instead. That's cause one trick to make your eyes pop are with more lashes. What's also great is that it saves you from mascara and eyeliner streaks in case you can hold your tears. False lashes application will take a few practice but it's definitely worth it. Personally, I don't plan on using mascara on my own wedding day. :)

If you're unsure with what color your eye makeup should be, stop second guessing yourself and go for purples. It has a way of brightening the eyes and eliminating the dullness of the skin. The color is flattering for most skin colors and not that hard to work with. My choice is definitely the Bobbi Brown Luxe Eye Palette. But you can go for browns and beige, too.

The reality is that the splurge isn't what the day special for a bride... it's the fact that at the end of the aisle, you will finally become a wife to man who will promise to love and care for you forever.

Bobbi Brown Luxe Eye Palette is now available at the counters. :)

PRESS RELEASE:

“On your wedding day you should look like yourself at your most beautiful.” – Bobbi Brown

Looking dewy and fresh is every bride's dream. But most of all, we all want to look like ourselves. Young, vibrant, in love.

Unfortunately, our skin isn't always forgiving nor do the circumstances. A wedding can be taxing and our skin can take its toll. If there's any brand I trust in giving me a look of a well-rested skin, it's gotta be Bobbi Brown. She understands the needs of women. I love that she is just like us and experiences the same problems we do, helping her in creating products that solves them.

Bobbi's new Luxe Collection is every bride's dream. It includes a Luxe Eyeshadow Palette (Php3,200) that has all the perfect shade brighten up the  eyes as well as define it. Glow in love even with all the details running in your head during your wedding with the Luxe Sparkle Powder (Php3,200). Make sure to never have streaky eye makeup with the No Smudge Mascara, a fool-proof mascara that holds curl as well as volume. Never be afraid of showing emotions (tears included) just because of your makeup. To create a blushing bride look, get the limited Luxe Brush Set, (Php6,500) that has every brush you'll need to look like the radiant brush that you are inside. Lastly, keep all your Bobbi essentials in the Luxe Palette, Php1,400.

Look your most beautiful, indeed! Can't wait to use this for my pre-nuptial shoot. The BF and I are planning it already and we thought that Tagaytay is great place to do it. What do you think?

I love creating bridal looks lately. Must be because I've been bitten by the wedding bug since my cousin got married. But seriously, it's just creating a natural look that will enhance the bride's beauty in all levels. Bridal makeup is all about making the bride beautiful, not different. A bride glows naturally on the day of her wedding that her makeup should only enhance what she already have and temper down some of her flaws. If she's got full lips, enhance with a natural-looking lipstick. Accentuate the light in her eyes with colors that pairs well with its color.

If you've noticed, brides usually have lilac, peach and warm nudes eye makeup. Nothing too flashy except for concept weddings. It's because these shades are complimentary to the shadows of the eyes and face and goes well with any bridal gown.

Mattes are always a safe choice for eye shadows but I like adding a bit of shimmer to the middle of the lids and just right outside the corners to add sparkle to her eyes. No need to thoroughly define the crease except when it is an evening event and the lights are dimmer. Mascara and liner is not optional. :) You must apply this no matter what  It opens up and define the eyes and doesn't make your face look too washed out on photos. :)

This look earned a lot of compliments that day. They thought I'm attending a special event that day and thought I had my makeup done by someone else. I'm quite proud of that especially when I didn't use complex products nor was it too expensive.

I'm in love with the Sleek I-Divine Oh So Special palette. It's versatile for creating different looks, from everyday makeup to special events like weddings to dark makeup look fit for clubbing. :)

If you're a newbie and wants something complete and affordable, get yourself the Sleek Palettes. :)

Watch out for my next Sleek I-Divine tutorial! :) It's gonna be great for those who loves dancing and fierce makeup looks. :)

You can get this palette through Updated Trends via Multiply, http://updatedtrends.multiply.com. :)

When going to an event, especially a formal one, you don't want to change your look entirely. You just need to be the best version of you... You but a little bit polished. This look I created is great for any event, actually. For attending debuts, weddings and other formal occasion.

I wore this look when I went to the Tupperware Brands Chain of Confidence event. It was the time when they launched the Search for 10 Women of Confidence and showed the viral video in super of the campaign. And I was in that video. Despite being confident about who I am and loving my curves as well as my pore-ful face, it was an occasion that needed be to look presentable. :)

So as you can see, there is no cateyes, thick lashes and bold lip color. I just covered my pimples and blemishes, defined my cheekbones and gave myself some brows. For the eyes, I did something Oprah-ish. Notice how she favors purple eye makeup look? I thought it was very distinguished. And well, who else could be a better inspiration but the most powerful woman in the world, right?

But I didn't exactly do it the way she does but rather played with how purple can work with my own eyes naturally. And I do have some history with purples. :) I love that I can still play with colors and manage to look polished. :)

Do you think I was successful? When a friend saw this, she thought it also makes a great bridal look. :) Got kilig she said that. :)

Products I used to achieve this look:

Face Makeup:
Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish Foundation
The Body Shop All in One Face Base
Nar Blush in Orgasm (for color)
The Body Shop Matte Bronzer (for definition/contour)
K-Palette Real Lasting Brow Liquid Pen (to define my brows)
The Body Shop Brow and Liner Kit (to color and make it thicker)
K Palette Okuma Concealer in 02

Eye Makeup:
Benefit Cosmetics Stay Don't Stray Primer
Beauty Pro Cosmetics Sweet and Smokey Palette
VMV Ohh-La-Lash Mascara
L'oreal Super Liner Lasting Silky Crayon

Lips:
Majolica Majorca Rouge Majex BE205

Necklace from Accessorize
Earrings from bazaar
Dress from Forever21

I'm loving the products I used for this look. They did amazingly well to give me that natural "improved" look. :) Confidence do not come easy for a girl like me. Sometimes, when I don't feel like my best, I go to cosmetics for a boost... Nothing like a nice lipgloss that gives you that natural pout or a blush that mimics your natural one.

What's your boost of confidence?

It's finally here! The Beauty Pro Cosmetics is now out and ready to make your makeup dreams come true!

I've been playing with these shadows for days already, maximizing its use and ensuring that it is really up par, if not surpassing, other makeup palettes out there. And it has! It being carefully handpicked by Brigitte, who we know is a true blue makeup addict, I was quite confident that I have everything I need in her palettes.

The Sweet and Smokey Palette is one of the most unique eye shadows palettes I've seen. Just cause it's more than a neutral or bridal palettes that I'm used to. It's just amazing, no words at all. I just love this palette!

Beauty Pro Cosmetics | Sweet and Smokey Palette

Beauty Pro Cosmetics | Sweet and Smokey Palette

Face:
GoodSkin Labs Z Pore
Kate Mineral Liquid Foundation
Clinique Super Balanced Powder Makeup in Deep
NYX HD Studio Grinding Blush in Apricot
The Body Shop Matte Bronzer

Eyes:
Clinique Lid Smoothie in Born Freesia
Beauty Pro Cosmetics Sweet & Smokey Palette
Maybelline Impact Express Smooth Felt Liner
Lancome Oscillation Mascara
The Body Shop Brow and Liner Kit

Lips:
MAC Lustre Lipstick in Giddy

And because a pretty girl requested a few more wacky photos.. Wish granted! :)

I love this look... I think when I get married, I would want a look similar to this one. It looks so fresh and pristine.

The Sweet and Smokey palette is actually Beauty Pro Cosmetics' neutral/bridal palette. But it's amazing how it differs from other palettes I've seen. I love how it has unexpected shades like purples and soft golds and coppers and not just beige and browns.

I'm so happy to have this palette in my stash! :) Really really amazingly happy! :)

If you want a Sweet and Smokey palette of your own, you can get them at the Mommy Mundo Bazaar on Novemeber 19-20, 2011 at the Rockwell Tent!

It's also available at Digital Traincase Multiply Shop! :) Free Shipping, too!

Kate, now Duchess of Cambridge, did her own makeup! Hard to imagine but yes! And she did it beautifully! Anybody who would follow in her footstep will need to up the ante. :)

She went for a soft natural bronzed look, accentuating her eyes and brows. She complimented her smooth tanned face with a bronzer and highlighted the highest planes of her cheeks perfectly. Her blush seem oh so natural just like her lips.

My thoughts were she probably knew the best what makeup look that would suit her and what Prince William would like. She probably didn't want to look too different on her wedding day...

Overall, I truly admire her bravado for doing her own makeup. Proving everyone that she's indeed a future Princess of the People.

Word has it she was mentored by London's top makeup artist.

How about you? Would you do your own makeup on your wedding?

I wonder if she used airbrush or traditional makeup application for her foundation... Hmmm.. :)

PAUL&JOE Cosmetics' Autumn Collection is truly a dream. Inspired by felines and the effervescent moon, Sophie created a lip color that any girl would want. You wouldn't even want to use these lip colors to preserve the sculpted cat on the tip of the lipstick. It is by far the most beautiful lipstick I own. The color is very much suitable for everyday use given that Paul and Joe are made from natural and organic ingredients.
"Cats are temperamental -- just like the moon.

Sophie Albou’s most favorite animal, a cat is now sculptured on the lipstick itself. Package is printed in the latest fabric print of PAUL&JOE fashion collection for 2010 Autumn and Winter.
The color itself combines clear, beautiful colouring with a delectably creamy texture. Contains our “SECRET D’OR,” a blend of several varieties of champagne gold frost, each possessing a different overtone and a sparkle that varies subtly depending on what angle you view it from. Together, they give skin a sheer, highly translucent sparkle"
Clare De Lune -

A graceful and soft pink that reminds users of the romantic, classic sounds of Debussy.

Over the moon

This orange is graceful, never boring. It makes users feel like they are walking on air.

Moon Shadow

An exotic red with a hint of pearl.

-o-
Paul and Joe Pecil Eyeliner
Stay looking gorgeous all day with PAUL & JOE Waterproof Pencil Eyeliner.
It’s smooth application is smudge-proof and maintenance-free and stays in place as long as you want.
Angel

This collection is one of the best gift you can give to yourself this holiday. Have something unique and truly dainty in your stash... Or you can email this post to your BF and parents and give them an idea what to get you for the holidays. :)

Lipstick cost Php1200
Pencil Eyeliner cost Php895

Enjoy this wonderful collection now! Get them at the PAUL&JOE counter at Rustan's Makati.
I'm eyeing Moon Shadow and the Angel Pencil Eyeliner.

much love,
Shen

This post is timely for this month... June is Bride month. And what bride doesn't want her makeup done fabulously?

I know I do!

There two kinds of bridal makeup, Daytime and Evening. Daytime is more of a natural look but the with more details, enhancing the best features of the bride and limiting those that are not so flattering. A Daytime bride for me has that sun kissed glow, bright eyes and luscious lips. The makeup must look like she had no makeup on at all but would still endure the tropical weather we have and the tears that she might shed during her vows.

Evening Makeup is a little more accentuating on the eyes that may tend to be droopy on bright lights, add a little smoke on the outer V and double coat on the mascara or add false eyelashes.. Add more color to the cheeks since it may get washed out by the flash of the camera. She must still have that natural glow and a touch of color. Lips should be enhance, like the cheek, this may get washed out during picture taking.

My model was quite young, 14, to be a bride. I tried the best I could to make her look mature but I ended up making her look like the bridesmaid. Haaiii...

the blushing bride.... in french

This may not be the best of my works during school but I believe I have able to provide my model with the Bride-Look had her hair been pulled up in coiffure. :)

I hope to improve my makeup application, most especially on bridal looks. So if any of you out there wants to be my guinea pig, feel free to email me! :)

much love,
Shen

Believe it or not, it's only for the last few years that I really contemplated on getting married. I mean the real deal. Not the whimsical, I want this and that. Maybe because I find myself in a relationship that truly speaks of what marriage should be. But enough about that... Let's go to our main focus.

For me, to be wed is one of the major highlights of being a woman. Especially now a days when women are equipped to be independent, to be married is to give up that short-lived independence that we have. Lucky are you to find a guy who will respect your individuality but nevertheless, it is innate in us to give all ourselves to our family. Maybe that is the reason why the BRIDE is the main focus on weddings.

The Bride is the one with all the trimmings, the best gown, the best look, major entourage anthe last to be presented with all the guest looking at her. Back in the day, i use to think of it like brides are the sacrificial lamb. However, my point of view changed when I reliazed that women are just being honored on her wedding because being a wife and mother is no walk in the park. She is walking through the next phase of her life that may very well define her more as a woman.

Of course, as a Bride we all want to look our best. I, myself, wouldn't settle for less. especially when it comes to the bridal makeup. I may settle for a mediocre gown, venue, food and others but never will i scrimp on what will go and how it goes on my face on the day of my wedding. Blessed are those brides with good skin because I doubt they'd feel the way I do. But for me with bad genes that have an oily face with severe acne scars, I will make sure that I look none of that when I walk down the aisle. Well, at the least, I hope don't. :)

Here are just a few things I've compiled (initially for myself) to aid me in looking my best on the day of my wedding.

1. REST! REST! REST! - I think I will be the worst bridezilla during my wedding preparation especially now that my mom is not there to help me out. So, I'm sure break outs will surface out and my skin will disappoint me in million ways. That's why rest and sleep is so important with all the unexpected mishaps that may occur during our wedding and even on the day itself.

2. HYDRATION - not only through moisturizers and skin care but as well as Water. Don't get tired of this but "drink lots of water/H20!"

3. If you must (like I do), visit your dermatologist or your aesthetician/facialist 1 week to 4 days before your wedding date. Give your skin time to heal and for the treatment you'll be having to take effect.

4. Peeling treatments should be done 6 to 3 months before the date of your wedding. You don't want to flake out, do you?

5. Break in your shoes - believe me when I say that trace of stress will show on your face when you start to feel discomfort on your feet. And you'll be standing for hours taking pictures and dancing... I'm sure may brides out there can relate to this.

6. Surround yourself with your closest friends and family, there's nothing that can give you a glow than a dose of heady laughter with your friends.

On the makeup:

1. Research on your makeup artist - Think of it as a detective work, don't ask the person but ask people they've worked on.

2. Trial Makeup is a must - I have a lot of makeup artist friends whom I have listed in my head as my potential MUA for the big day, and even if they know what makeup works for me I will still have a trial makeup with them to avoid unnecessary trouble both on our parts.

3. If you're doing your own makeup (so darn proud of you!), I recommend the following products that will help your makeup last through the day.

  • Makeup Former HD Primer (Green and all their other variants) - I haven't tried this on a wedding look but it has proven to reduce the redness on my face (the green variant) and made my makeup last a long time.
  • Smashbox Photo Finish Primer with Dermaxyl - best primer for me to reduce my crow's feet and other wrinkly problems.
  • Makeup Forever HD Foundation mixed with MAC Studio Fix Fluid - believe it or not these two brands unite to give me a long-lasting look. Both are oil-based so on those tear jearking moment, your makeup will not run.
  • MAC Studio Fix Concealer - my HG Concealer in terms of traditional makeup
  • Makeup Forever Corrector Palette - apply this first before your skintone concealer for redness and dark spots, this baby is heaven!
  • Ellana Foundation in Intensive Formula - if you want the matte heavy coverage look
  • Ellana Foundation in Pure Blend 2-in-1 Foundation - for a hint of dewy look but no oily effect and with concealing properties.
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion - to prime your eyes and make it long lasting.
  • Neutral Palette from Space Pretty for the eyes - This bridal palette is not popular only for the everyday look it could give you, the color payoff in this palette are impressive. You can even use one of the lightest eyeshadows as higlighter on the upper part of your cheekbones.
  • Revlon Colorstay Liner - In any day and weather this baby doesn't budge on me
  • False eyelashes - for me its a must. It opens the eyes more (IMHO).
  • Covergirl LashBlast Mascara - I don't know why but this doesn't bring down my curls and tuly mesh well with my falsies
  • NARS Orgasm Blush - the name speaks for itself. A true glow from within type of blush.
  • French Kiss and Romance Blush by BareNaturals - for a matte blush that compliments lighter and the latter blush for darker skintone.
  • Beach Tan Bronzer by Mineraux - to contour your cheeks and to give a nice sheen to the cheeks.
  • Your favorite Lipstick - the important thing is that it should partner your cheeks. Opt for a more bluish base like pinks and mauves since it makes teeth appear more white. Apply with lip brush, smack on tissues, and apply again. Add lipgloss if you want.
  • Ellana Sheer Velvet Mineral Finishing Powder - it sets your makeup to give you that HD effect. I'm in love with this.
4. Think Positive and always believe that you're beautiful, because YOU ARE!!

Here ends my wedding post, a tribute to all Brides this year. And cheers to my blog friend Di who will be getting married in less than 2 months!! yey!

Why this post? Well, check out this blog and you'll know why I got inspired. :) Jason Magbanua makes the best wedding videos and I do hope that I save up enough money so he can be my wedding videographer or that I become soooo famous that he'll offer his service for free! LOL!

much love,
Shen

P.S. I'm not getting married, okay? Well, at least not in the next two years. :)
