Etude House Dear Darling Nail Polish in No. 36

Most of you know by now that I'm addicted to Gold and anything shimmery or glittery. And that is exactly what I found when I went to Etude House one day as I look through their nail polish collection.

I quickly grabbed this polish as it suits my personality and most accessories I wear. :)

Dear Darling no. 36 is a bit muted gold and not the 24K or Italian gold type.
Blends well with my yellow undertone skin and compliments a lot of clothes I own.
The glitters aren't all that intimidating and can be safely worn for work that allows an amount of freedom of expression. For school though, I think you should pass this off for fear of being called to the guidance office. :)

1. Easy to use. Brush sweeps off my nail smoothly.
2. Dries quickly.
3. Last long. I've had mine for a week and it hasn't chipped off even a little (despite nail growth and my obessessive hand washing).
4. Loads of colors to choose from.
5. Very pigmented.
6. Affordable at Php198 per bottle.

1. none whatsoever.

You can check out our Tish's site, Practical Vanity, for more etude nail polishes post. :)

Me (no makeup on) with Sarah of Etude House.
Thanks to Tish for this picture.
(my memory card with our pic is missing. sniff.)

Will I be getting this again? Definitely! This is a polish color than I can see myself sporting every day of year. :)

Playing with Mineral Eyeshadow and Ellana Light Roast

I miss doing eye makeup on myself but most especially on others but real life must take the wheel and my brushes and eyeshadows must take the backseat for a while. Thankfully though, I was able to play around with my eye makeup one day before I went to work.

This time, I used mineral makeup eyeshadow samples that I've collected for the past few years. Aren't you just happy that mineral makeup don't expire?

How to achieve the same look:
1. Apply Urban Decay Eyshadow Primer Potion in Sin to the whole lid.
2. Wet synthetic flat eye shader brush with water or mixing medium, dab it on to Marine eyeshadow (Pale, watery blue with lots of irridescent orange shimmer). Place shadow on the the entire lid up to just about the crease area. Let it dry.
3. With MAC 214 Blending Brush, apply Bubble and Burn (black with red flecks) on the outer V up to the half of the crease. Re-apply Marine eye shadow if needed.
4. Apply a periwinkle eyeshadow (medium purple with low sheen) on the mid lid with MAC 214 eyeshadow to add dimension
5. For highlight, use Cynical Fairy (beige) up to the brow bone.
6. With MAC 216, apply Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner to lashline. Extend liner application to creat cat eyes effect. Blend afterwards.
7. Appy MAC Fascination Eye Khol (matte white) to the lower water line.
8. Apply Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Stash (dark metallic green/gold) to lower lash line.
9. Apply false lashes (optional)
10. Apply mascara as usual.

Ellana Light Roast has become a favorite of late. It's jut the right shade of bronzer for me, much like my MAC Style Warrior Refined Golden. I just love it. It compliments Bare Naturals Bubblegum Blush from BN's first blush collection.

I don't know why this is the only time I've been getting addicted to bronzers,
it's the best thing to put to on to give me that prepped up look.

Accessories from Accessorize (Php380)

I'm loving all my Accessorize necklaces. I don't go out of the house without.
Maybe soon i'll show my humble collection from them. :)

YumYum: The White Hat Italian Frozen Yogurt

I told you before one of my ways how to lose weight, especially on the tummy part, is the yogurt diet. However, I found it hard to maintain such diet when I couldn't take the sour flavor of yogurt. I just can't take the flavor anymore and to eat that everyday has become an ordeal.

Good thing though I discovered The White Hat Italian Frozen Yogurt that offers frozen yogurt that is totally tasty even without the toppings. It has become one of my favorite snack for the past few weeks when I got to try it at the The Body Shop event I attended. They have loads of toppings to choose to make that froyo experience a lot more tastier.

Consider this girl addicted to The White Hat Italian Frozen Yogurt! It's 98% fat free! I love!

a must try. their Valentine's Day Combo!

One of the branch I love to visit is The White Hat at Robinson's Place Manila
loated near the new cinemas.

here are the two Clown Hat combos I ordered for me and hubby to try.

two clown hats makes two happy couple. yum!

And now that they have a promo wherein I can get to watch Valentine's Day Movie on its premiere just gave me more reason to get that yogurt fix everyday. I'm down to my last two!

Haul: Urban Decay Pre-order

After waiting for nearly 2 months, I finally got my hands on my Urban Decay pre-orders. I did the pre-order initially to buy the Urban Decay Book of Shadows Volume II. Unfortunately, it was out of stock. Good thing though that the other two I ordered, the Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin and Urban Decay Complexion Primer Potion Pore Perfecting Primer.

Here they are:

Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin - Champagne Shimmer
Urban Decay says:

This miracle eyeshadow primer is unmatched by any other in the beauty industry! The genie in this bottle fulfills three wishes: eyeshadow that lasts, more vibrant and lasting color, and absolutely NO creasing. Apply Primer Potion to lids before shadow application. It dries down almost instantly (and invisibly), creating smooth lids that are super powered eyeshadow magnets.

The formula is full of silicone, which you beauty mavens know makes for a smooth and silky application. Packaged in a pretty genie bottle, our Potion applies with a magic wand and flocked applicator.

Tips: A little goes a long way! Apply a thin coat and let dry, then apply Eyeshadow as you normally would. Then DARE it to crease. (Double-dog dare it, even!)

Fill Weight: 10ml e 0.34 US fl. oz.
I want to say that I didn't like it... because I don't think I'll ever get my hands on this again. But I do! I do! I sincerely do! I like this so much, I don't even use eyeshadow on it. I just use it alone and my eyes look bigger and more awake. I just love it a LOT!

Champagne Shimmer is a good description that Urban Decay gave this Sin in a bottle. The color is just simply delightful. It provides that wonderful shimmer on your eyelids that can make any matte eyeshadow pop. The lasting power didn't change as well.

If Sin is as good as this... I want to sin more! LOL!

side by side with the Nude Eyeshadow Primer Potion.

Sin is darker than the regular UDPP.

Here's a sample

used 28 palette from Space Pretty Store on ebay

If you use shimmery eyeshadow with Sin, it will enhance it. If you use it with matte eyeshadows, it will show more than just using the regular UDPP. With Sin, I don't feel the need to use additional base to make my eyeshadow pop. Either way, both variants are the best primers I've used so far. Sin just amped it up just a bit.

Unfortunately, this can only last for 6 months from opening. But what I love about Urban Decay, their products are safely made without testing on animals and it is free from animal-derived ingredients.

Urban Decay Complexion Primer Potion
Pore Perfecting

Urban Decay says:

Smooth on a little Pore Perfecting Complexion Primer Potion before foundation (or alone!) to totally minimize the look of pores and fine lines. The velvety, paraben-free formula flashes down to a soft-matte finish, without the greasy, heavy feel sometimes associated with foundation primers. The result? Flawless skin with an airbrushed look and feel. Foundation applies smoothly, evenly, and won’t fade away. Ideal for oilier skin, but dry complexions who want pore perfection will love it, too.

The convenient squeeze tube includes a twist-up dispenser (like school glue!) for easy portion control.

Two unique finishes of Complexion Primer Potions are available. For skin that feels brighter and tighter, try our Brightening formula.

Tips: A little goes a long way! A pea-sized drop of Complexion Primer Potion is all you need to perfect your whole face. Or, try just a touch in the areas where you need it most

Fill Weight: 30 ml e 1.0 US fl oz

The product of this miracle primer comes out from the tip. Hold cap and twist. At first I thought this opens like a medicine bottle where in you have to push down and hold cap to open. It was such a stupid mistake on my part not seeing that the tip is open already. LOL.

With just a squeeze, the product comes out. Just like Elmer's glue. Hihihi!

But unlike the glue, Complexion Primer Potion is as smooth as it could be in texture and application. This dries to a soft finish that will leave your skin looking better, pores smaller, lines reduced in appearance, oiliness less apparent and your skin ready for foundation.

I have tried a lot of primer but nothing dries faster than this one. If you enjoyed the Eyeshadow Primer Potion because of its ability to make your eyeshadow last longer, the Complexion Primer Potion is almost just the same.

Best of all this is a Marley Approved product. Meaning no animal-derived ingredients. Also, this lasts for more two years! :)

If only they could give UDPP same container to make it last longer. :)

Overall, I give both products two thumbs up. And hopefully, I find another way to get my hands on this faster than I did before.

much love,

Turn back time with The Body Shop Originals

Here I am always thinking of the future that I forgot how nice it was to reminisce about the past. Past love lifes, gimmicks, those days I can fit into my skinny jeans and wear bikini like a pin-up model.

But alas! Those days are in the past. Glad though I am that The Body Shop Philippines has brought back something from the past that many women adored... and misses.

From their Banana shampoos to Cucumber cleansing milk, the all-time favorites can onces again done your vanity and shower area.

I got to snag myself the Cucumber Freshening Water that is seriously good to replace those toners that are too harsh for the skin. This leaves my skin clean and soft. Remove remaining dirt after every shower.

I've been using this for more than two weeks and I notice lesser break outs and healthier looking skin.

As a thank you, I received this Pink Grapefruit Body Butter. I thought that the scent would be overwhelming. Given the fact I don't like grapefruit, this one is one of my favorite The Body Shop Body Butter.

Compared to a lot of body butter I've tried, this one glides smoothly. i glide my fingers across the tub and the cream just rolls of like a softened butter. Upon application, your senses will be invaded by its sweet scent and will leave your skin baby soft.

Coming soon, more The Body Shop products.

Product Review: Shu Uemura Cream Cover Stick Foundation

Shu Uemura Cream Cover Stick Foundation
A new stick version of shu uemura's cult favorite, Nobara Cream Foundation, formulated to give the instant high coverage of a concealer with the smooth glide of a foundation.-

I was first introduced to Shu Uemura Nobara Cream Cover Stick Foundation by John Pagaduan of Shu Uemura when he used it on me for my hosting gig at Quorum Anniversary party. Seeing how flawless the results were on me, I just had to get one... and I did.

  • Three types of oils, gliding, light and emollient, combine to enhance the foundation’s spreadibility, creaminess and comfort felt when applied to the skin.
  • Available in 13 shades, this new-generation foundation makes it easy to not only match virtually every skin tone, it also allows the ability to achieve precise highlight and lowlight effects by applying several different shades.
  • For best results, blend foundation with Synthetic Brush 14 for wide coverage and Synthetic Brush 12 for more precise areas. -

Shu Uemura Cream Cover Stick Foundation 754

I've been using the Nobara Cream Cover Stick Foundation since I got it early December. I even took it with me for an out of town wedding. Its compact container makes it so easy to tote around everywhere. The way they revamped the cult fave Nobara Cream Foundation definitely benefited a lot of beauty enthusiast like myself. No worries that your foundation will accumulate dirt and bacteria with this tube-like container. As an aspiring makeup artist, this is a major convenience because it's easier to clean up and won't take too much space on our kits. Pop the cap, twist and apply. So, that's a definite plus on the packaging!

Coverage-wise, I never regretted getting this off the shelf since. This cream foundation provides a coverage of a concealer. Its incredibly light and smooth formulation allows an easy application.

I apply this war-paint style. Two swipes on the forehead, one wipe over the tip of the nose and across the chin. I use either my MAC 109 brush, a regular latex sponge or my Beauty Blender pink sponge to blend all the swipes together. Never tried to use any regular synthetic foundation brush with this foundation. So far, so good, the results were amazing.

The best thing about this foundation with such coverage is that I can use it everyday. Since I've acquired a lot of dark spots from my dried up pimples, having a foundation to cover them up aside from my favorite mmu foundation is a dream. Especially on those need-to-hurry-woke-up-late days. It does not cause me to break out (actually, all Shu Uemura Cosmetic products don't make me breakout) nor does it clog my pores.

The foundation can provide a light to heavy coverage depending on how much product you apply. For me though, with a little help of concealers for my cystic pimples and dark undereye problems, one application is enough. Such application can last up to 5 to 10 hours depending on how oily my skin get.

How much product left after more than a month of use.
For Php1900.00, this foundation can last you probably 2 to 4 months, depending on how frequently or how much you use.

Suffice it to say, I'm impressed with this foundation hands down. No wonder why most reviews I've read on it could only say the same. The packaging, the coverage and the tons of shades available for almost all skin tones are just something many can't passed up. Most of all, anyone could certainly use this even those you are using makeup for the first time. It's just a no-brainer, you see.

Some photos of me using Shu Uemura Cream Cover Stick Foundation

Sigh.. Isn't it nice to have something that has everything? And the ironic thing is, I thought I'd never like cream foundation. Goes to show never say never! :)

Other products I've used with this foundation:
Shu Uemura UV Base Spf 10
Shu Uemura Face Powder Sheer Colorless
Lancome Maquicake
Ellana Mineral Makeup Foundation in Intensive Formula

addiction rating:
5 out of 5
totally addicted!

much love,
