Just before the rain started to make an appearance, I made a farewell look for spring with my favorite BYS Palette. It rivals my Urban Decay Book of Shadow in pigmentation and color selection. Can you believe that this 32 piece eye shadow palette costs less than Php700? Yup, it's that affordable.

The look is fairly easy to do. To recreate this look, you only need to do the following:

  1. Prime the eyes with a champagne eye shadow base (Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin) to avoid creasing enhance the color of the eye shadows.
  2. With a flat paddle eye shadow brush, slowly pat the a bright green eye shadow (BYS Colour Perfectionist Palette, Php675) onto the lids until the crease area.
  3. Define the crease and darken the outer V of the upper lid with a dark green shadow (BYS Colour Perfectionist Palette, Php675) with a blending brush. Wing the shade out to elongate the eyes.
  4. Brighten up the eyes with vibrant cobalt blue shadow (BYS Colour Perfectionist Palette, Php675)  and pat them on the outer upper lids. Bring it down to the lower lashline, apply sparingly.
  5. Give your look an extra kick and instead of black gel liner, use a bright blue gel liner (Laura Mercier Cobalt Gel Liner, Php895). Wing it a little for a whimsy feel.
  6. Line the waterline with an equaly bright blue liner (BYS Auto Eyeliner with Sumdger, Php195)
  7. Complete the look and go crazy with a mascara (K Palette 1 Day Lash Perm Volume and Curl Mascara, 1,200)

Pinks go so well with a bright eye makeup look. I went for NYX HD blush in Apricot and NARS Gloss in Angelika to pair with it. A good decision if I say so myself. :) If you're face is looking bloated, don't forget to contour.

Although I'm not a concert-going person, one thing I love about going to these parties are the fashion and makeup.

So instead of partaking in the merriment (or rather the inevitab;e icky sweat and all-night standing up), I just chose to be inspired by the looks I've seen the moment I got the Revlon Photoready Primer and Shadow in Bohemian. Inspired by the modernized hippie looks of laces, tans and greens, Bohemian seems to be the perfect palette to use. :)

Let me talk about the texture of the palettes first. I've had a chance to try 3 shades and like most Revlon palettes, it's at par with high-end brands. It's pigmented and has impressive modern shades. Not at all chalky and powdery. Unfortunately  I can't seem to get the primer part. I'm not sure if they mean it as a primer to help with the creasing or primer as awash or base to help bring out the colors. I think it's the latter.

Revlon suggests we wet the shadows to get more intensity. But given my experience with their former palette, it hasn't always pan out to be a good idea as the shadow hardens and makes it more difficult for me to use it.

So I used it as is, following the instructions they provided at the back of the palette. And I like the result. You can see the color pay-off well and for about Php895, it's not so bad. Bohemian make look a bit too shocking but if you're out to try something new you can definitely try this out. What I like is that even without the minty shadow, you can use this palette for every makeup look.

And they register well on cameras. Photoready indeed.

have you tried the new Revlon Photoready Primer and Shadow. What's your favorite?

I know many of you have been waiting for another makeup look and here it is! Just a few more hours before the year ends! Are you looking forward to 2013? So am I! I'm so excited for that it will bring. First, I finally decided to tie the knot. Yes, finally! 7 years in a relationship I think already assures me that I'm with the right person for me. Also excited for new ventures, plans and engagements for this blog. Excited, that's probably an understatement.

Obviously, I'm quite obsessed with the 2013 color, emerald. To think that I never liked the shade green when I was younger. Signs of aging? Maybe. My taste must be maturing. But yes, green is a fabulous color on us Pinays.

And for a New Year's Eve look, take emerald to your eyes and celebrate the last of 2012 in style!

To recreate this look, just follow my instructions (and then add you're own twist!):

  1. Prime your eyes. A party can last all night long, avoid your shadows from creasing by using a really good eye primer or cream shadow. It also makes the shades more vibrant. (Bobbi Brown Cream Eyeshadow in Shore, Php1,200)
  2. Make your eye shadow pop. Apply a cream-based product for a smokier effect. (Makeup Forever Colour Case Palette, Php4,100)
  3. Apply a glittery black eyeshadow on the outer V. Or a matte one, which ever you prefer for this look. Smokey eyes are suited for evening event, it gives edgy dramatic look and shows great on photos (She Space Minerals, Stolen Soul, $.50)
  4. Apply a striking gold eye shadow on the inner corner of your eyes. Dab it with the pad of your ring finger for better pigmentation. (Laura Mercier Illuminating Eye Colour in Gilded Platinum, price upon request)
  5. Trace a shimmery green eye shadow on your lower lids. (sample pigment in Enchanted, price not available)
  6. Add emerald eye shadow on your outer-crease to harmonize the whole look, use a blender brush to distribute. (sample pigment in Enchanted, price not available)
  7. Define your eyes with your favorite eyeliner. I used a liquid one since it stays on longer than pencil. (K Palette Real Lasting 24h Eyeliner, available at Beauty Bar)
  8. Accentuate your waterline with a lasting and waterproof eyeliner. (Estee Lauder Doublewear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil, available at Rustan's Department Store)
  9. Highlight your brow bones with shimmery beige eyeshadow, make sure it's warm toned to match the warmth of emerald green. (Sassy Minerals in Chantilly, price unavailable)
  10. Volumize and lengthen your lashes with your favorite mascara. (Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes, price available upon request)

Pair it with sweet cheeks and pink lips and you're good to go. Don't be afraid to do your brows and contour your cheeks if you want a complete this look.

Will show you what I used for my face after! :)

Happy New Year, dear and wonderful readers! Cheers and here's to another year of beauty and confidence-boosting posts!

Yet again, another bright makeup look from yours truly! Yes, I am a bit more adventurous now. You'll see a lot more of this in the future (i dare hope).

It's funny how we often think that we have a lot of time to do the things we want... then we just realize that we've already out of time. Well, I'm not about to let that happen. So even amidst chores and tasks, I went ahead and did this bright look using mainly greens and yellows, inspired by a dress I wore during my recent trip to Bohol. It's a very tropical look that reminds me of beach festivities and nature.

Imagine the surprise looks of the guy that delivers our drinking water and the one that picks up our laundry when they saw this look on me! Hahahaha!

I've also missed using green eyeshadows which I realize I have in abundance with the palettes that I own. I concentrated again in using matte eye shadows from my 42 and 120 eye shadow palettes. Although the texture is a bit powdery, I was happy about the pigmentation. Who wouldn't be and the with the price i paid for, barely Php2000! Seriously, it was a jackpot!

There will come a time that when you wake up one morning that you're bored as hell with your usual safe make up and will want something brighter. Much like my featured FOTD here. But the thing is, you're scared to do it. You don't feel you have the right skills, the proper tools and the products that can pull off a bright make-up look.

The Body Shop released their autumn collection here in the Philippines!

Turn up the heat! Take your make-up cues from the smouldering shades of nature. The season’s
‘Smoke and Fire’ look is inspired by the rich, natural, earthy colours of the changing season combined with the dramatic flash of light associated with breath-taking autumn skies.

Create the look or have it expertly applied by make-up artists in a The Body Shop® store. This fiercely hot colour collection for eyes, face and lips harnesses nature’s autumnal palette and balances it with modern smoky shades. Dusky blues and greens are lifted and refreshed with peach and pinks, flashes of oxidised metal add a touch of metallic sheen. Dare to play with the on-trend shades and innovative textures.

Light up! The Autumn Leaves Compact highlights cheeks with a natural looking, soft-lit glow, setting your complexion on fire. Create smoking, smouldering eyes by encircling them with the unique, highly pigmented Kajal Eyeliner in three rich hues. Enhance this high intensity eye-look with three vivid shades of Eye Colour eye shadow. Then frame eyes with long, dark, lush-looking lashes courtesy of Divide & Multiply Mascara. As a finishing touch, dress lips in earthy, nude shades of moisturising Colourglide™ Lip Colour. Finally, don’t let dark circles and fine lines ruin your style with the help of light-reflective Lightening Touch.

The Body Shop people gave us bloggers a chance to experience the Smoke and Fire Collection by way of tutorial and makeovers in hands of The Body Shop makeup artist and guest makeup artist who also happens to be a blogger, Dens Congco of Makeupden.com.

Even I who have been applying makeup for quite a long time picked up a few tricks during this event.

Denise Congco, Makeup Artist and Blogger as guest artist.
Did you that Dens and I were classmates in elementary? :)

Billie, Body Shop Philippines PR Manager provides us with her introduction.

Let's begin shall we. Roma, the general manager at The Body Shop Megamall, preps Billie's face for foundation by spritzing a moisturizer and applying a brightening primer. Billie has dry skin and brightening is the best for her to give her a dewy look.

Dens took over the eye makeup application. She makes sure to take inspiration at the pictures provided for this collection but at the same time she ensures that the look will fit Billie's eye shape and face. Dens used the Eye Colour no. 42 (midnight blue) and no. 41 (peach) to create a smokey look.

Favorite part was when Dens used the Special Edition Kajal Eyeliner Charcoal on her eyelids as base. The soft Kajal Liner is a much easier eyeliner to use in my opinion. No tugging and budging the eyes whenever you apply. Highly recommended for those who loves water lining.

Final result. Love the bronze look on Billie and the midnight blue smokey was a great contrast. Really fit for the fall season.

Hi, Kim!!
It's been a while since I saw my fellow Basement Academy classmate who gave birth to a healthy bundle of joy.

Although I was dying to play with the makeup on my own. I wouldn't let a chance pass for a free makeover. :) hehehe!

Roma and I decided that we should go for a grin... este... green look. lol!

Pics from my Canon g11 doesn't do justice to my FOTD! Emerald eyeshadow was so pigmented!!

Here's Kim and I all dolled up and ready for Fall! :)

Earth looked great in earthy tones of Smoke and Fire Collection

Tara's eyes popped with Smoke and Fire Collection. :)
A nice twist to all the smokey look of the collection

Fabulous, right? :) Dens really did an amazing job! :)

Dens and I took advantage of the vain shot of my cam. :)

Thanks to the Body Shop Team for having us in this event

And for being so nice and accomodating while we were there. :)

Ross and Billie with Ry, Lace, Kim and Azrael. :)

Roma and Den's beautiful creations. :)

If you're asking what my recommendations are in this collection. It's the Kajal Eyeliner. It's made from natural ingrdients and the Marula oil makes the product glides seamlessly at the water and upper lash line. Get all of them!! :) hehehe!

Also, to avoid the zombie look, the improved Lightening Touch will definitely erase those underey baggies away. :)

I'm excited for the fall and winter collections. I'm definitely that kind of season. More excuses to wear darker and edgier makeup. :)

much love,
Shen

Hello Everyone,

How's your week so far? Mine is getting lamer and lamer. I got a temperature right now. Everyone I know is getting sick but this is my second time during this freak weather we are having. I usually don't get sick but my doctor just advised me to get some bed rest. Like I don't have enough of that. I'm hoping my temperature lowers down today.

Here is my eye of the day last week. I love how this looks so fun for a night out but quirky enough for a daytime wear. Blame it on me, I love colorful eye of the days. I got inspired of this combo from a Sephora e-mail. But I knew I couldn't pull off just the two-toned eyeshadow because I barely have a crease. I knew a shadow crease would compliment the look. So I darkened my crease with the black eyeshadow from the 42 Shimmer Palette that really really reminded me of MAC Carbon. Just a dip is enough to get a good amount of eyeshadow!

Products Used:
Eye 10 Eyeshadow Primer
NYX Jumbo Pencil Milk
42 Shimmer Double Stack Palette
Maybelline Felt Tip Liner
Maybelline Magnum Mascara
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Pencil in Covet

As for the whole look, I'll tell you about it soon.

Earrings are from Accessorize.

Gotta rest now!

much love,
Shen

Howto achieve this look: Apply Absolem all over the eyelids, just before the crease. With a blending brush (MAC 224), apply Oracullum to the crease. Blend to make the eyeshadows even. Apply Chessur to give gradation between Absolem and Oracullum. Define outer crease with Mushroom with a crease blending brush (Charm blending brush). For highlight, lightly sweep off White Rabit on to the brow bone. Line lashline with a gel liner (Maybelline Gel Liner). Apply green eyeliner (Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Covet) on to your lower lashline, top it off with white eyeliner (Maybelline Vivid and Smooth Liner in White). Apply a volumizing mascara after curling lashes (Maybelline Magnum Mascara).

In love with a large brush wand

Using a mascara that gives a lot of volume ensures that my eye makeup looks are at its best. I love Maybelline Magnum Mascara because of how it effectively covers my lashes instantly, the large brush wand ensures that every lashes are coated from roots to tip. I love that I don't have to work so hard with this mascara. One or two swipes is enough for the coverage I want.

Shen on Green Eyeshadows

I don't think I'll ever get tired of wearing green eye shadows. But I make sure not to shock my workmates with vibrant greens. So I use neutral eyeshadows with this look to tone it down a notch. When I open my eyes, the green is hardly seen. When I blink, its a nice surprise to those who care to take a look.

Coral Lips on Green

It was a great time to break in my brand new Bobbi Brown Guava lipstick that I got from their Coral Cabbana Collection. It's the most complimenting Coral lipstick I own. Guava is great to use as an everyday liptick to give that much needed color to my dull lips. Another thing that I love is that this is great for many skin tones.

Let it Shine

Of course, the look wouldn't be complete without a great gloss to top off on my fab coral puckers. LOL. I love The Body Shop Hi Shine Lip Treatment in Pink Cream do just what it describes. Really gives a lot of shine and gloss to my lips without it being to shimmery, don't you agree?

That's it, friends! I hope you enjoyed this look!

More next time!

much love,
Shen

NYX Round Lipstick in Paris, that is...

Lips colored with nothing but NYX Round Lipstick in Paris from Digital Traincase.

FOTD to follow... and maybe... even a tutorial. Would you like that?

Have you noticed that I'm back to blogger comments? Its because Haloscan.com is will soon be closing down. Sniff...

I am hoping though that blogger provides us the same service especially those who buys their own domain name. :) It would be a nice Valentine's Day gift!

No, I didn't cut my hair. That's just how the front part looks like when I use a straightening iron on it. :) It won't look that neat if I literally have all my locks chopped off.

Back now to regular programming. I've had the In2it Light Reflecting Liquid Eyeliner in Carribean for sometime now. I find it a bit flamboyant to use all the time. But its just the best liner to use for green eotd's. I would definitely want to collect all the eyeliner from in2it. Honestly, I never thought i'd get used to using this type of liquid liner. I was just extremely intimated especially that I'm pasmado. Thank God, I didn't let my insecurities stop me from using it. :)

Loves:
1. Affordable
2. Impressive lasting power
3. Easy to remove but may leave some stain.
4. Easy to use once you've had enough practice.
5. Very pigmented.
6. Lovin' the changing color effects (like a monochromatic car)

Possible problems:
1. May cause some application problem to those who are not use to eyeliner.
2. Some may not like the patent/shiny finish of this eyeliner.

Tip:
1. slighty pull the temple, close eyes and follow the upper lashline.
2. To add wings, simply extend outward from the edge of upper lashline.
3. Keep makeup remover and q tips near.
4. Practice makes perfect.

Shoot me, please. I neglected to write down what I used but its basically those mineral makeup samples i have laying around my stash. You can definitely recreate this using green shimmery eyeshadows and defining it with a dark green eyeshadow on the outer V.

I just can't get over the lighting in our balcony. Major l-o-v-e.

Oh, and I dreamt about my new hair color. Instead of my hair going blondish brown, its going to be a brownish red. Similar to Private Practice Kate Walsh's red locks. No, I won't be getting it anytime soon, I'll be slowly returning first to my au naterelle black hair to give it a little rest from its previous coloring and rebonding. Besides, love your own! :)

much love,
Shen
