Lipstick Wednesday | New Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited {BG 955}

I noticed that don't have a lot of "natural-looking colored lipstick. Hmm....

I either have something, really pink, really red or really pale. Probably because I think of lipsticks has a way of taking me out of the box when it comes to makeup.

Except when I tried the new Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited BG 955. It was love at first swipe. This lightweight lipstick and uber sleek tube has gone beyond expectation.

Rouge Unlimited has been around since 2006, it's became such a phenomenon due its variety of edgy shades and now it has transformed, thanks to the double hybrid pigment technology.

First Impression

What I noticed intantly is of course the variety of shades, there's more colors to choose from. Another is the sleek tube space-like lipstick. It's stil clear cap but now the lipstick bullet is encased in a steel tube. Still sleek of and chic and there seem to be more product.

The First Swipe.. then the second, third fourth and so on... Experience

With so many colors to choose from, it took awhile for me to try all the shades that sparked my interest... What I didn't realize was how many I got to try!

I usually hate testing testing out lipstick since it sort of tires my lips. You know that feeling your lips are sore and red already from the swiping and wiping when you are at the counter? That didn't happen to me at all with Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited.

I was really surprised that my lips liked the weightless feel of the lipstick. Also they weren't drying on the lips.

Rouge Unlimited has the following major ingredients for total lip moisturization: Jojoba Seed oil, Shea Butter, Ceramide, Proxylane and Licorice Root.

The Verdict

I've tried most shades and I'm quite happy that almost everything suits me but it BR 955, a sexy nude shade, that grabbed my attention because it looks pink on my lips!

It's been an everyday lipstick for me.

Swatches

Below you'll find swatches of BR 955 on my lips and arm.

I brought out the pink hues of the BG 955 with a purple eye makeup and pink blush which I think pulled the look together. :)

What I like about Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited?

Variety of shades that fits all skin tones.
Lightweight consistensy.
Moisturizes the lips incredibly
Eases dryness and chappiness of the lips
Super pigmented shades (less swipes needed)
Sleek packaging
Available now at all Shu Umura

"It is a blast of true colors, supreme moisture and unlimited beauty" - rouge unlimited

What I don't..

Since the product have tons of moisturizing properties, it tends to melt a little.
Thank God for the tube packaging that it doesn't cause the stick to move!
May be a little expensive for people who are just trying out makeup.

"Color are like personalities, they are infinite" - Mr. Shu Uemura

I particularly like what Yuji Asano, Shu Uemura's International Makeup Artist, said about lipsticks:

"Unlimited Beauty begins with a lipstick. Lipstick inspires you to imagine your whole make-up expression>"

I didn't realize it now but lately, my lipstick have indeed mandated the looks I do. Well, unless I have new shadows to play with.

No More Sunburn | Beach Hut'ing All Year Round

The sun is playing hide and seek but it doesn't mean it's not going to damage your skin. Apply your sunblock before heading out! :)

What You Know About Sunblock:Fact or Fiction?
1. 12 + 8 = 20, so when you put on moisturizer with SPF 12 and foundation with SPF 8, common sense tells you that you have SPF 20 on, right?

WRONG.

Sunblock Mathematics is even simpler than that. When mixing several products that have sun protection, the product with the highest SPF is as high as you can get. In other words, 12 + 8 = 12. Kinda cool, actually.
2. It's called SUNblock. So you only need it when it's a SUNny day. When it's cloudy, the sun isn't there anyway, right?

SORRY.

Unfortunately, UV rays are more powerful than that. They can penetrate clouds and bounce off pavements even on a rainy day. So when is it safe not to wear sunblock? Only when the sun stops shining. Or...only when you're staying indoors the whole day, with the blinds shut and all.
3. Sunblock and sunscreen are two words with the same exact meaning, right?

NOT REALLY.

Think of them as Batman and Superman. They both do a great job of protecting us, but their ways of doing so are different. Sunscreen absorbs the UV rays and quickly deactivates the harmful ones so they can't hurt the skin. Sunblock, on the other hand, creates an invisible shield around the skin, scaring away the UV rays before they even touch the skin surface. Awesome.
4. If you're planning to wear a long-sleeved top and jeans, skip the sunblock. I mean, we only need sunblock for the exposed parts of our body, right?

NOPE.

The average cotton shirt has an SPF of only about 5. That amount of SPF is too low. And unfortunately, the darker your clothes, the faster they absorb UV rays. So especially for prolonged sun exposure, you must cover your entire body with sunblock every day before getting dressed.
5. Sunblocks are all the same, anyway. So you can buy any sunblock at all and expect it to do the work for you, right?

NO WAY.

Assuming that all sunblocks are the same is as silly as saying everything that flies in the sky is Superman. But you know who the Superman of all sunblocks is? Beach Hut! Here's why—Beach Hut makes sure that it saves you from whatever your biggest problem with sunblock is:

Afraid no sunblock will ever be enough to protect you from the harsh summer sun?
Say hello to Beach Hut Max 100! It's the sunblock with the highest SPF protection available!

Scared of being able to protect your skin but not your hair?
Beach Hut Hair and Scalp with SPF 20 will never let that happen.

Terrified your child's skin is too sensitive for sunblock?

Beach Hut Kids with SPF 65 has vitamins C and E which have antioxidant properties that help protect and soothe kids' sensitive skin from the harmful rays of the sun. Plus, it's hypoallergenic.

My favorite because it's not greasy or sticky!
Beach Hut Max 75++ Clear Spray Sunblock Extreme with UVA and UVB Protection. It's so easy to apply and best of all, re-applying is no fuss.

I can never get enough of sunblock. Ever since learning how bad it really is for the skin and how badly my skin will look like when I grow older, I can't help but cringe and quickly reach out for sunblock even with how sticky sometimes sunblock can be.

Good thing Beach Hut takes away the stickiness and the greasiness of applying sunscreen. It;s always a brand that is purely innovated by Filipinos. They, too, must hate how icky sunblock lotions can be. :)

BeachHut is available at all Watsons stores!

Tech Tuesday | Boostcase Hybrid - Extended Power for your iPhone 4/4s

Sad fact: I love my iPhone to bits but it can't keep up with me.

The Dilemma: I always ran out of battery.

It's a sad state that I rely so much on being connected online all the time. Not an hour goes by that I don't check my phone for tweets, posts, @mentions, etc. I also can't help not to check-in at Four Square for c chance of becoming  mayor or keeping my mayoral posts even if I'm in a convenience store.

And who is not an iPhone user who isn't hooked on Instagram? Not to mention that I can now blog on this nifty device. And do you how many games I maintain on this wonder gadget? Countless...

But its battery life just doesn't cut it. I know, what's you're going to say... why not get the new iPhone?

Not as easy as you think...

Solution: External batteries, baby!

I have 2 more at home but today, we will focus our attention on the fashionable Boostcase Hybrid, which I have to say is a really a good one for three (3) reasons:

1. My iPhone is always protected - Boostcase external batteries always comes with a detachable iPhone case that keeps my phone safe from scratches and easy to take out once it's fully charged. You can also mix and match your case from your other Boostcase chargers.

2. Keeps my iPhone powered - at least once a day when I've eaten up my initial charge. One fully charged Boostcase can give up nearly  full-charged battery. It charges at least 80 to 85% on a 10% amount of battery life on my iPhone. So that's a good 75% charge to last me the rest of the day.

3. It's chic-looking - this almost 2-in-1 detachable case (one lightweight plastic case and the external battery itself) has a variety of colors to choose from. I prefer this white and pink combo though coz it's so girly and yet I surprise the boys that this is one impressive gadget.

Aside from makeup, I dole out a lot when it comes to my gadgets. So I don't mind shelling Php3550 for the Boostcase Hybrid.

Now, there really is no reason not to be connected! :)

Oh! You know when you'll love an external battery pack? When you're at the middle of the road travelling and you don't have any way of charging your phone! Or when you're on an overnight trip with the gals and all of them have taken over all the outlets!

Yup! Both things have happened to me already!

Boostcase Hybrid definitely gets a thumbs up! :)

How to: Remedy Flat Pasty White Skin | L'oreal True Match Blush in True Rose

The Dilemma: Oh-so-flat-and-pale face.

Yes, we all have had those days when we applied just all too much foundation and have that flat white mask of a face. And we just can't remedy it. Or just that we are

But wait... there's a way! (hahaha! I sound like an infomercial)

The Answer: Blush... a natural-looking one should do the trick of eliminating that pasty white skin. Choose a natural looking blush, just the same as the shade that your cheeks shows after a good run or when you saw your crush. :) This will give your skin a healthy glow. Just rememeber to apply sparingly.

But if your want to choose a blush really apt for your skin tone, here's a few tips:

{img src}
Asian Fair Skin looks good in the following tones:

Pink peach

  • Nars Orgasm
  • Benefit Bella Bamba
  • L'oreal Paris True Match Blush in True Rose.

Pink tones

  • Revlon Matte in Blushing Berry
  • NYX HD grinding blush in Apricot
  • Ellana Mineral Blush in Flirtation.

Peach blush

  • Tony Moly  Partylover Shine Blusher in 03
  • Venus and Mars Peach Spark
  • Bare Naturals Au Natural.

Asian skin with darker skintone tones will look good on the following shades:

Burgundy or wine tones

Barry M Blusher in 143, Mineraux Mineral Blush in Plum Blush, The Body Shop Blush Cream in Grape or Benefit Box 'o Powder in Dallas.

Add-ons: Some bronzers and highlighters wouldn't hurt, too.

The trick is to giving your face dimension. You don't want a flat looking face, not in real face.. especially not in picture where people can easily post it on the internet..

So for those times that you ran of time to fix your makeup, adding just a tad bit of color can clear things up for you!

My new favorite blush is L'oreal Paris True Match Blush in True Rose.

It has just the right amount of peach and pink that I don't have to worry about my lip color. I've worn this blush with the darkest and palest lipstick I own and it pairs well with both.

It's lightweight, handy and it even comes with a brush and mirror for quick touch-ups when your matte powder just have that tendency to make you look pale and flat. The slight gold shimmer gives a subtle glow that my face has been needing and it really compliments all Pinay skin tone.

Whenever you think that makeup is too much, remember that makeup is just color... and color just make life a little bit wonderful!

Have a great Monday, ladies!!

See you soon!

Must Try: Snoe Hair Heroes Intense PM Repair

Look what I just found. It's something new from Snoe Beauty! It's another addition to their Hair Heroes collection, 'Intense' PM Repair Argan Oil (Moroccan Liquid Gold).

It sure look good with my 5-in-1 Intense Argan Oil Moroccan Liquid Gold Cleansing Conditioner and Honey Olive Clemetine Sulfate Free Shampoo. The moment I saw and smelled it, I knew that it was coming home with me. It smells exactly like it's big sister, 5-in-1 Intense Argan Oil Cleansing Conditioner. I honestly went for that reason to buy it rather than actually looking intensely on how it can benefit my hair. Yes, I am a sucker for good-smelling products.

But do you notice how dry and dull your hair is end of the day? My hair is exactly like that especially since I love washing it. So at night, just before going to bed, I spray a few pumps of the Hair Heroes Intense PM Repair to condition my hair and give back some of the nutrients loss from the harsh sun and stress.

And yes, my hair looks different and it smells good too!

It's major ingredients, Argan and Jojoba oils, we all know is are both great moisturizer to the skin and hair. Argan is becoming really popular lately. I wonder if they will come out with Argan oil body wash. Hehehe!

The only prob I came across with is that this 50ml bottle seems to little for my thick, bleached and dry hair. I may have to hoard on this product!

Who else have tried Snoe Hair Heroes Intense PM Repair?

Snoe Hair Heroes Intense PM Repair (50ml) is Php249.00.

Tech: Mohzy Loop USB Cable | Charging just becaume chic

Mohzy Loop USB Cable | Daisy

Yes, it did! So happy that I finally got the Mohzy loop usb cable! And no it isn't your ordinary cable. First off, it comes in chic designs!

What I have is Daisy. I’m digging the floral art design and the colors scream me. J You got to love oink and teal combination.

Mohzy Loop USB Cable | Daisy

Mohzy Loop USB Cable | Daisy

But that’s not the only reason why I got this baby! I got this for my two sleek helpers, iPhone and Blackberry. Both have been hard at work to keep me in touch to the world. Thanks to my favorite telecom Globe, I never miss a call, text, tweet, Fb message, BBM or email (although I wish I don’t sometimes. Hehehe!).

But bringing both chargers are just a pain! I forgot my Blackberry charger ons at Jheng’s family house in Bataan and it was such a hassle. It was too expensve to buy a new charger and I didn’t want to rush Jheng’s mom to send the charger (nakakahiya naman). But having Mohzy, all I needed was an adapter with USB connector and I could charge my Blackberry again. It was such a relief.

As a gadeteer (what I fondly call myself, the girl who can’t seem to live with her gadgets), power (aside connection is the next important thing). Getting to charge both my phones, mp3 via laptop or outlet where ever I am.

Another plus is that it makes such a cool accessory! It’s a baller ID, baby! :) Although I don't advise doing this if you're ADHD like me who keeps on losing stuff. I keep this in a sort of gadget pouch in my bag.

Oh! This also makes a nice magnet for your boards at work. And you'll love the tangle-free cord. Yup. No more wrestling with

So what do you think? It's a cool gadget, right? And it's only Php795.00!!

AVON Ultra Moisture Rich Rose Lipstick | Review, Pictures, Swatches

Avon Ultra Moisture Rich Rose Lipstick | Rosabella Rose

Despite it being released a few months back, Avon still sent me their February 2012 offering, the Ultra Moisture Rich Rose Lipsticks, endorsed by Miss Universe-Philippines Shamsey Supsup.

Almost twice or thrice a year, Avon comes out with a new version of Ultra Moisture Rich Lipsticks to suit more Filipina lipstick needs. This time, Rose Collection provides intense moisture thanks to "Rose extract and Almond oil that's been known  to soften, smoothen and hydrate the lips." - Avon brochure.

UMR Rose Lipsticks came in 10 chic and ultra feminine shades, inspired I'm sure of the many different shades of roses. There's none of your regular ran-of-the-mill brown undertones. The Rose collection is very updated for the season with all the pink, purple and peach hues. If you want the pale pink, peach nude or deep plum, you'll definitely find in this collection.

Most shades are also wearable for everyday and yet it is still quite different from usual shades. I think Avon UMR did a great job in selecting shades for the rose collection. I just love every shade in it!

Packaging wise, compared to the usual black and silver lipstick case, Rose comes in black and metallic one.

Avon Ultra Moisture Rich Rose Lipstick

Avon Ultra Moisture Rich Rose Lipstick | Rosabella Rose
Rosabella is rich in red and peach tones, creating a sort of pastel red shade. It's a close to NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Bonfire and

Avon Ultra Moisture Rich Rose Lipstick | Passionate Kiss Rose
One of my favorite, Passionate Kiss is one of the most used lipstick in my stash. It's a great My-Lips-But-Better lipstick.

Avon Ultra Moisture Rich Rose Lipstick | Amelia Rose
Amelia Rose, hailed as a best-selling, I've proven to be a good fit. It's perfect for those who want that pink lipstick with a hint of purple tone.

Avon Ultra Moisture Rich Rose Lipstick | Amour Rose
Amour Rose is a pale pink with a tinge of peach undertone. It's very pale for my complexion but I do love the shade so much that I'm going to keep it for future clients.

Avon Ultra Moisture Rich Rose Lipstick | French Lace Rose
French Lace Rose is peachy nude lipstick. If you're looking for a neutral/nude lipstick perfect for that everyday use and for that smokey eyes, then this is exactly for you.

Avon Ultra Moisture Rich Rose Lipstick | Rosabella Rose
Apricot Nectar Rose looks a lot like MAC's LE lipstick in Cut-a-Caper but a tad brighter and more pink.

Avon Ultra Moisture Rich Rose Lipstick | Blushing Rose
Searching for the pale peach pink that doesn't wash you out, Blushing Bride could be it. It's one of the most flattering light shed of pink lipstick I own to date. It suits mostly fair skin but all skin tone can use this with a smokey eye makeup look.

Avon Ultra Moisture Rich Rose Lipstick | Carmen Rose
Carmen Rose is not your ordinary lipstick, it's a soft almost demure red.

Avon Ultra Moisture Rich Rose Lipstick | Royal Celebration Rose
Go for a bit of statement with Royal Celebration. It's one of the darkest shades among the collection that can suit all skin tones especially the morena ones.

Avon Ultra Moisture Rich Rose Lipstick | Jubilee Rose
Plum lipstick isn't for the kontrabida amymore. Imitate the looks on the runway with this Jubilee Rose, it suits neautral makeup look. If you're up for looking for a bold and daring dare-to-be-different lipstick, this is for you.

What to love about Avon Ultra Rich Rose Lipstick:

It glides on smoothly on the lips
It's extremely lightweight
Soft on the lips
Doesn't cause the lips to chap, very moisturizing
Incredibly pigmented
Darker shades last long on the lips
Love the satin sheen finish on the lips
Comes in flattering tones of pinks, plums and reds

What not to love about Avon Ultra Rich Rose Lipstick:

So far, I can't think of any.
