“When I open my mouth, my Mother comes out.”

This phrase describes exactly who I am as mother. I can’t believe how much I’ve made is so hard for her and here I am ending up being like her to my children. Sweet irony, I guess.

Now more than ever though do I appreciate everything she has taught me. Becoming a mom gave a whole new meaning to who she was to me. Now I understand the selflessness, the constant hovering and the endless eskimo kisses. My mother unconditionally loves me that I know now for sure. Because it is exactly how I feel for my children.

It’s hard for me to imagine her ever feeling clueless about caring and parenting me. She seemed so strong, so full of will. But now I know she went all through these because it is exactly how I feel right now even with my second born. I remember giving Steffi her first bath and forgetting half of the things I needed to prepare... and how her tiniest sound would instantly wake me up just because i’m worried with what’s happening with her. And with Claud, I feel lost at times on how to discipline her.

If you are not married and still have no children, make Mother’s Day extra special for the person who loves you with all her heart. Honor her and let her know that despite the cat fights, the misunderstandings, you are nothing without her. Let her know she has molded you to be the person that’s discerning, committed and passionate. That no matter where in the world you, there’s no one who can make “marinated porkchops” or spaghetti as good as hers. That you will miss her “lectures”? Her knowing what you need even before you ask it of her and how there are so many advances in science and medicine and yet only her rubbing vaporub on your chest and back takes away your fever and chills.

There is clearly no one like our momma.

Tomorrow is Mother's Day! Do you already have plans on how to make it extra special for your Momma?

Uber partnered with Smart Communications for their very first on-demand campaign here in Manila this Mother's Day! Active Smart Postpaid subscribers shall be entitled to specially discounted price for this service. :) A special code will be sent to all Smart Postpaid subscribers tomorrow, May 11, that they can make use of to avail this on-demand service for only half the price (Php1400 to only Php200). This shall be charged on the credit card used to register to Uber.

So if you have yet to download the Uber app, better do it now! Just got to Apps Store of Google Play to get this app for FREE! A vehicle option named “UberMOM” will be seen in the app, and users would have to move the green pin on the map to the location where they want the gift basket delivered to. SMART Postpaid subscribers only need to enter the promo code along with their orders to get the discounted price for the gift basket.

Users only need to download the free Uber app for smartphones and sign up for an account to enjoy the promotion. A vehicle option named “UberMOM” will be seen in the app, and users would have to move the green pin on the map to the location where they want the gift basket delivered to. SMART Postpaid subscribers only need to enter the promo code along with their orders to get the discounted price for the gift basket.

Due to existing high demand and limited availability of stock, the Mother’s Day on-demand service will only be available between 9am and 8pm on May 11, and only one hundred (100) gift baskets will be available for delivery. The campaign is available for everyone that has signed up for Uber and consumers can make a request for the gift basket through the Uber application.

Postpaid subscribers can avail of the 7-day and 30-day Flexibundles for P299 and P999, respectively, to get access to the Uber app and other mobile Internet applications on their phones.

The mommas I know are selfless.. They hardly get anything for themselves, especially with the things they want. They would always put us, their children, first. That's why some of them look different now than they did in their #throwback photos. Some of them were once fashionistas, donning cool 70's and 80's outfits. Some are beauty junkies like us who wear uber red lipsticks and winged liner. Now, they'd rather slave themselves to work, stay inside the kitchen to prepare your favorite meal than think of themselves.

And though we try to make her feel special everyday, it's on Mother's Day that we really get into the details of making her feel special... and remind her how beautiful she in our eyes. During Mother's Day, I use to get my mom gifts that I know she wants rather than what I think she needs. Gifts that are otherwise, she wouldn't get for herself. Small things that she would linger on inside a mall, or on a magazine.. even an AVON catalog.

This year, Avon has compiled some really awesome gift suggestions that I know my mom would love if she were here with us. I'd probably get her a gift bag containing some of the things I know she would enjoy.

I'd get her a new bottle of perfume. Far Away seems like an interesting scent, the sweet sultry vanilla scents seems right for my mom. Then, I'd get her a pair of lipstick from the Ultra Color Absolute Lipstick, one for day and another for night. I'm thinking Warm Berry and Smooth Plum. She loved anything whitening for the skin, so I'm sure to get the Anew 360 degree White Intensive Serum. My mom was not into eye makeup, she considered herself too old to learn, but that wouldn't have stopped me from getting her Avon's SuperShock Mascara, just so she'd have her own.

Lastly, I'd get her the Body Illussion High Waist Control Brief. She was very conscious of her tummy back then, but I doubt she'd get this for herself so I'm definitely grabbing one for her so she wouldn't feel so bad about her bulges.. And for something sparkly there's the Dear Mom Necklace for her to remember this day. I'd give her this gift bag after an intimate Mother's Day dinner at her favorite restaurant.

But that can't happen now. So for you out there who still have their moms with them to celebrate Mother's Day, get her something that she wants, something she'd been hinting on. Don't waste this special moment to make her feel loved and to make her feel beautiful.

Mother’s day is here and it’s sure is fun to just spend more time with mom and treat her like the queen she really is. I may not have a mom to treat to every Mother’s day but that doesn't mean that our tradition will end.

I would usually give my mom something like a book…. Which I now realize was not the best thing to give a workaholic woman. My mother didn’t have an inch of a bookworm in her body and yet I always gave her one.

I should’ve given her a bag full of makeup inspired by spring makeup trends. I could have picked a nice pink lipstick, a rosy blush, highlighter and face powder to keep her face shine-free all day.

Right now, I definitely am recommending you to getting a mommy makeup set. After all I’m sure that most moms out there barely have time to buy makeup with all the things that keeps them busy.

You can also get her a range of skin care or just an eye cream. I can’t remember a time that I didn’t see my mom use a toner on her face or applied some cream on her face. Even when she would sleep in my room, she’d be bringing her night cream with her. But now, I think I would give her an eye cream since she neglected that part.

A bottle of perfume would also make a great gift. My mom was a very good cook but she hated smelling like food. She lavished on scents like Bulgari, Dior and Ralph Lauren. If you’re mom is as addicted to fragrances, you can get her a nice bottle of perfume she can bring with her anywhere.

Other than that, a salon day would be a great treat for her. Treat her for some color or hair care treatment to give her a new look. A mani/pedi would be nice, too.

So yeah, I’m telling you know. If you think that you’re mom needs a gift that she would use everyday. Don’t get her a book. Get her something that will show that you really are paying attention to what she does and that you appreciate everything she do for you.

Actually, don’t wait for another Mother’s Day to show her that any day could be a special day just because you love her so much.

I would give anything to spend another day with my mom. So don’t miss your chance to spend time with yours.

Happy Mother's Day to everyone!!!

As you all know, I don't have my mom with me anymore. She died two years ago from Aneurysm. I still have a hard time not having her with me. I still miss her everyday. I think of her more then ever. You see, I always thought that my mom would be there for me forever. That she would be that permanent pillar in my life to hold me up when everything is falling apart. I can't say how many times she has rescued from my troubles. How often she got mad at me for my failures and bad decisions. But she was always there, guiding and providing for me. I never really appreciated those things until she left...

My mom and I could never be more different. We fought a lot. From waking up early to sleeping too late, mom always found fault in everything I did and I never thought she was proud of me. Even when I was struggling in law school, I never knew if she understood what I was going through... There was even a time that I left the house just so I could get away from her. I feel so much as a disappointed but being with her hurt and made me feel so bad. Countless have I rebelled against her...

But even with all those things that I did, she was there. She may not have understood everything I went through but she held me... She was there.

Ma, I know I have not been the best daughter that you deserved but I'm making something of myself now and I hope that you're happy from where you now. I also know its futile to wish that you were still here but it doesn't make me wish any less than to be with you now. I'm so sorry for being so selfish and unkind. For having said the hurtful things to you every time we fought. For not having understood the feelings you had ... for not being supportive of you and what you did. I'm so sorry... Maybe you can't hear me or maybe you could... But I really am sorry for all those things, Mommy."

Today is your day, Ma... I usually made sure I'm specially good and caring to you on this day. I even sing for you sappy mother songs, remember?I usually get you a book that you never read. We have breakfast in Delifrance Libis after mass and then we go to Podium when its open to look at Bayo or Kamiseta. You would get mad if If I get more than two clothings but you would pay for it anyway. You even threaten to get my baon as payment. Then I would ask if we could go to National because even if I'm older, I still love going there to buy books. You even said that National was my Toy Kingdom even when I was young. It still is, Ma. Before four o'clock you would want to go home because you will be watching The Buzz. We would watch it together while I go online. Then you cook dinner for us and we will spend the night watching corny Tagalog Movies like Doremi, Nang Iniwan Mo Ako or Bituing Walang Ningning. I still watch them now, Momma.

Now, I don't have anything but flowers and candles for you. I still hurt, Momma. Days like this, its hurts more... I wish the day would just go by as I sleep. But I know I have to honor your memory with this day as well.

Happy Mother's Day to you, Momma. You've got the best seat in the House Up there with Mama Mary, celebrating Mother's Day I'm sure. Have fun and remember that I always think of you.

I'm really looking forward to Mother's Day because this day is very important to me. Being so close to my mom, this event was one highlight of the year for her.
