Now that I have given my daughter access to Netflix on her gadget, I was happy to know that there are more than one way to check her activities and access to our Netflix account. The worst thing that could happen is for her to sneak a peek on my listings! DId you know that you can add a passcode to your account to keep them from watching mature content?

Go to your ACCOUNT > PROFILE & PARENTAL CONTROLS >
CHOOSE THE ACCOUNT YOU WANT TO PUT A PROFILE LOCK ON >
CLICK CHANGE ON PROFILE LOCK >
CONFIRM YOUR PASSWORD AND CLICK CONTINUE >
INPUT 4-DIGIT PIN

Now, no one can get into your account even if they want to.

Another thing that Netflix rolled out it their bi-weekly kids recap emails so I have ideas on the content they like to watch. Since I freely let them watch using their Netflix Kid's account that doesn't mean I don't have to monitor what they consume. I also get to know their preferences, what they are like and and updates on their favorite shows. These are the basic features of bi-weekly recap emails!

  • Recommendations based on your child’s favorite shows and movies;

  • Printable coloring sheets and activities inspired by your kid’s favorite characters;

  • Top themes or topics charts that show the types of programs your child enjoys most (i.e. science, friendship); and

  • Tips for how to use our Kids features on Netflix.

It's not only us who enjoy the TOP 10 ROWS! This has been extra helpful for me on my own account but I like that Kids like this, too! TOP 10 contains usually the latest and most popular movies, series, and shows so my kids don't have to spend all day scanning looking for something to watch.

Netflix also have custome ratings, profiles locks, and play something on Kids Profile. There's just so much I can do with my Netflix account. Another thing that I like is how I can control the maturity ratings and how I can also type in titles I want to limit my daughter from seeing.

Now that our kids are typically smarter than us when it comes to techonology (Gosh! I can't believe I'm saying this!), I have to amp up my game and be a lot smarter and learn ways I can control what she consumes. Thankfully, Netflix has made it easier for us!

I'm a very happy momma because of Netflix and I'm glad I can be a mindful mom as well because of the continous improvements they make. Now I can binge-watch in peace!

Christmas may be over but the gift-giving from PayMaya never stops! PayMaya has been my go-to app this year. Even amidst the pandemic, it has proven to be a partner to guide us through the New Normal.

Personally, using this app has made my life a lot easier - especially since contactless payments is a lot safer and more convenient these days. I use it to pay for my gas at Petron, my groceries at Landers, and even random purchases at the SM Store. I usually pay via QR because I enjoy the cashbacks and exclusive promos that make paying more exciting. For me, there are so much more benefits from going cashless via PayMaya than paying with express cards or flat-out cash.

And this holiday season, on top of the countless exclusive deals PayMaya is offering its customers, they’re also giving us the ultimate aguinaldo for the holiday season. This is their PayMayaguinaldo raffle promo!

In this raffle, PayMaya is giving away P1,000,000 to a lucky user, plus a share of P285,000 worth of prizes on a weekly basis. All you have to do is pay via PayMaya – which most of us are already doing long before December!

If this peaked your interest, here’s a quick guide on how to earn raffle entries to get a chance to take home P1,000,000!

REMEMBER: You get one raffle entry for every P100 purchase, the more you spend the more raffle entries you will earn!

I can’t share enough how good it feels to use PayMaya. Everywhere we go now is determined whether they have a #ScanToPay option. And when I’m looking for food deliveries, I opt for PayMaya payment. I just feel safer using it.

Craving for that sumptuous Crispy Beef Strips and delicious Xiao Long Bao? PayMaya came to the rescue because Din Tai Tung has an option for me to pay via my PayMaya-registered Mobile.

KUYA J’s algorithm has perfectly targeted me because it was twice when they had Crispy Pata promos that we have ordered from them.

Going to SM has been one of the things I look forward to now because it so rarely happens because of the quarantine. When school opened and we had to purchase some supplies, we opted for SM department store. Everything we needed was there and we didn’t have to spend all day walking around the huge malls.

From getting Claud new shirts for her online classes, snacks from the snack section, and school supplies at the Stationery area - they’ve got it all there! They now also have all the gadgets needed for online schooling. And best of all, I paid for my purchases using PayMaya QR. So convenient.

And this Christmas, we did the same thing and shopped for some essentials at the SM Store. While we bought some of the toys for the kids this Christmas at Toys R Us Holiday Sale.

Transferring funds from BPI to PayMaya right now is quick and doesn’t require a transaction fee. I’m impressed with how quick the transfers are as well. This is my preferred way to add money to my PayMaya account.

We’ve used #ScanToPay a lot! I barely have any cash on me right now. Even sending loads to my kasambahay, I use PayMaya.

And how we are amazed that with every transaction we get alerts with the number of entries for a chance to win more from PayMaya!

And the best thing about it is that PayMaya has been so integrated in our lives right now that using it has become like a second nature to us.

So join me in this new lifestyle and enjoy the perks of being a PayMaya User.

I know how most moms can relate how crazy the past three weeks have been cooped up at home with active children and husband adjusting to work-from-home condition. And if you live in a condo like I do, then the smaller space has probably given you a cabin fever already. We are taking every precaution to care for ourselves physically but we can’t discount the fact that this quarantine can wreak havoc on our mental health.

It’s so important right now that you take a minute and give yourself some much needed TLC. Take a step back from the piled up laundry, leave the kitchen for a bit, and CARE FOR YOURSELF.

Impossible? NOPE! It isn’t. I listed down some things that would allow you some time to relax and not get caught up with the daily chores and caring for the kids!

ORDER IN

If you’ve been slaving away in the kitchen and thinking of another dish to cook would surely drive you crazy? Well, give in to the cravings and order in from a restaurant or fast food.

I’ve been craving for cookies for weeks now. Good thing, APERITIF AND BEN’S COOKIES are accepting orders through their websites! If you have a PayMaya account, you can easily pay for your purchase online using your PayMaya virtual or physical card.

Salud Restaurant in Marikina is also open for deliveries. If you’re looking to help feed some frontliners or your guards, they have pre-packed meals that you can pay for as well. Their mode of payment is via bank transfers, which you can easily do with your PayMaya app. I recommend getting their Pinagulong Pancit for a longer life!

KEEP THE KIDS BUSY

If you’re running out of activities to do with the kids and keeping them away from their gadgets is getting harder by the day, then order in Kid’s Activity sets from Joan Miro and Oli’s Boxship. They have several products that will surely entice your kids to get creative. No need to prepare anything, the kits will contain everything you need.

GET YOUR GROCERIES DELIVERED TO YOU

During this quarantine period, online payment options like PayMaya are more convenient than ever. With this on-hand, you can easily pay for groceries online and have your essentials delivered to your doorstep. You can also do this for your parents and grandparents who may be living away from you, as they are the ones who need to stay at home.

GET YOURSELF SOME GAME

By that I mean, some mobile games. I’ve rekindled my love for mobile gaming and boy am I hooked! I’ve recently discovered that I can purchase gaming pins in my PayMaya app. Just go to the Load function of your app, tap load packages and choose the Steam package you want to get. You can also give some to your children BUT ONLY if they’ve been good and helped you with the chores.
Consider it a rewards system to make tasks fun for them!

LEARN A NEW SKILL

I love watching Youtube tutorials on water coloring and design but I need to level up so I’m signing up on SKILLSHARE.COM. They currently have a free trial and you only have to pay after it. I’ve done this before and I used my PayMaya account to pay for one month subscription since I enjoyed learning calligraphy on the platform. I also love the free online classes from CommonRoom on Instagram!

For your kids, there’s Promil I-Shine that offers free classes like piano and dancing lessons. There are also tons of Facebook groups that you can join for tutorials. If you’re thinking of home-schooling, Homeschoolers of the Philippines group you can join.

KEEP IN TOUCH

We might be physically distancing ourselves but we can still socialize digitally. Thanks to Facetime, Facebook Messenger Video Call, and Zoom, we can talk to our friends and family anytime! An hour of conversation and seeing a loved one can do wonders for your mental health!
I make sure to talk to a friend every other day to check up on them either through chat or call. I think it’s also important to emotionally distance yourself from the members of your household even just for a short amount of time. Talking to friend is a great way to do that.

SELF-CARE

As a mom and a beauty blogger at heart, the most effective way for me to get back on the grind is to care for myself. A little face mask here, longer shower time, or as simple as applying a lip tint perks me up! If you don’t have these on hand, there are still some online shops that deliver! Don’t feel guilty for taking care of yourselves during this time. We all have our own ways in coping with our current situation.

I recommended ellanacosmetics.com and humanheartnature.com.

Now, weren't these suggestions convenient enough to do in the confines of your homes? With PayMaya as our payment buddy to help us through it, we can enjoy staying at home and not get caught up with the stress this physical distancing is causing our mental health.

How to sign up? Visit PayMaya.com or download the app via App Store or Google Play or visit https://www.paymaya.com/quick-guide to know more on how you can maximize your PayMaya account!

And if you are up to it and interested in helping out, join PayMaya’s #OneAgainstCOVID19 and donate to the many organizations that have partnered with them. If you’re already a PayMaya user, just go to the Pay Bills section of your PayMaya app and look for the organizations with #OneAgainstCOVID19 in their name. If you’re not yet a PayMaya user, simply go to donate.paymaya.com.

PayMaya is the best and most secure way to pay for your needs during this quarantine time. So what are you waiting for, make life a little bit more bearable and download PayMaya now!

With summer getting kickstarted you’ll surely be thinking about how to best get ready for the warmer weather and sunnier days. If you already have the perfect summer outfit in mind, then I’m here to help you make it even better with some tips and ideas for accessorising this summertime.

Earrings

Earrings are a classic staple of accessorising for a reason, they can make or break an outfit and raise an ensemble from being just okay to standout. The current trend in big chunky earrings is set to continue into the summer, but you can help make your outfit really pop by choosing some striking designs in vibrant colours. Adding complex shapes and primary colours will help add some longevity to your winter outfit as well, extending its life well into those, sometimes still chilly, summer days.

Bags

If you’re anything like me you already have a varied selection of handbags to go with every outfit or occasion, but I’m sure you don’t have a bag in this emerging style. Throwback fashion has dug a little deeper into the recesses of the past and brought back something that you never thought would be stylish or good looking, the rattan bags! These tiny bags will make you nostalgic, but you’d be surprised at how great they can make your summer outfit look. Despite any reservations you might have, these little native bags are well worth the plunge and once you’ve added one to your summer repertoire you won’t regret it.

Belts

Belts are a big deal at the moment and they are a great opportunity to add a huge statement to your spring outfit. Big, bold chunky belts can make an otherwise muted outfit really stand out and small vibrant belts can add a bit of colour without distracting from the overall look. Belts are also a great way to add a little definition to your waist, especially if you’re wearing something billowy or thick on the colder days.

Sunglasses

Since the sun has finally popped out for a visit you might occasionally be in the need of some sunglasses, and another occasion to add a bit of variety or style to your outfit. Small delicate sunglasses have returned to vogue and are a great subdued way to complement your outfit and look. If you’d like to make a bigger statement with your shades, you could try something larger in vibrant colours like cobalt blue.

Hats

Spring can be an awkward time when it comes to headwear, especially since it’s generally too warm for heavy knitted hats but sometimes too cold to go bareheaded. Berets and bucket hats are a great way to keep in a little heat, while also looking great in the process. Try and find a colour that complements your overcoat to really tie your whole look together.

There we have it, a few ideas to help you accessorise and create a fiercely stylish outfit for this Summer. You can find lots of great options for accessorising online, if you have a little dig around you’ll be sure to find something to finish out your outfit. You could also check out Groupon's special New Look codes for some great savings.

Let me know what other styles you want to rock this Summer! You know you are always my inspiration!

The Most Important Tips and Tricks on How to Format Your Admission Essay in a Great Way

The hardest things about essays are the idea creation and the writing itself. Then you have editing and formatting which do not have less importance. If you have your paper written, but you do not format it accurately, your writing process can be assumed to be completely spoilt. The first thing that comes to the reader’s sight is the format of the paper so do spend some time to make your essay seem perfectly edited and formatted.

When it comes to admission essays, it is hardly possible to find a general formula for admission essay formatting, but it is attainable, nevertheless. Students always exaggerate and want to act due to the requirements strictly. And when there are no strong requirements, they start to panic worrying that they can do something wrong and will not be accepted then.

Applying to a college or university, you should remember that you make the first impression on the selection committee with your admission essay. You may be worrying about the essay’s length, the font, the margins, the file format and so on. For now, stop worrying and take our ideas into consideration instead.
The Top Ten Tips for You to Follow

Formatting does not require any additional tools but some knowledge that will be helpful. The tips and tricks we propose to you to do a great job are the following:

  • Learn the basics. You can find some relevant information either in books or on the Internet. There is a variety of websites offering general requirements. This tip is used mainly when there are no specific requirements for your paper.
  • If you have your admission essay in a definite style, the formatting way may change and vary.
  • Check the college’s or university’s application instructions. This will allow you to forget about your fear to do something wrong and will show the clear picture of what the selection committee expects from you.
  • Look for samples, if there are any. Convince yourself that your essay stands out but NOT when it comes to formatting.
  • Check the spelling, words order, etc. Forgetting about it or thinking this is useless are the most common mistakes students make.
  • Choose a standard font (required in most of the cases) - Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1-inch margins.
  • You had better avoid bold formatting and italics. The readers (the selection committee) have its own views on what to emphasize.
  • Let your paragraphs, each carrying different message or arguments, be delineated properly.
  • Do not trust the Web when checking your essay for mistakes. The machines cannot understand the context and your message completely so they may give you wrong pieces of advice.
  • Last but not least, do NOT use templates as the admission essay requires your originality and authenticity, rather than copying a common essay’s structure.
What Are the Other Requirements of the Admission Type of Essay You May Have Forgotten about?

Let us remind you about some general and vital things when writing your admission essay. The requirements vary from college to college, from university to university. But some things remain common. For an admission essay, it is normal to write approximately 500-600 words, not more. The language should exclude slang, clipping, abbreviation, etc. The subject should be personal and demonstrate your skills or life circumstances. Therefore, try to describe them well to become a more desirable candidate.

The style of your writing is not to help you show your extra creativity. You should not write a novel full of metaphors because the style of an admission essay is very formal and strict. But your creativity nevertheless should not be limited as it is a precious thing the admission board will appreciate. Use it when creating the content, not when formatting an essay. Remember that not every person is able to tell a great story in 500 words. But every person does have some story to tell, and an admission essay is your chance to do it beautifully.
Let Your Essay Be Special

Do not start your essay with the trivial things. Your essay must sum up the most important things you have done or learnt in your life. So, never describe your family relations, your childhood stories and so on when they cannot show how you developed your personality. Have you ever played any musical instrument? Well, it is great, but almost everybody did the same.

Make the selection committee remember your personality by telling about some of your special characteristics. Do not forget to engage the reader with a hook the same way you do it in simple essays. But starting with a question will not be the best way for an admission essay.

Telling a little about something special and personal does not make matters worse. You may also describe your interests and passions going back to your childhood. This way the admission officers tend to trust you more, and they see what kind of a person you are now, under which circumstances you have formed yourself as a person. Maybe, there is something from the childhood influencing you these days? Feel free to describe that.

And do not try to seem an absolutely ideal person, there is no such person on the Earth. And the admission essay is not about that. It has more to do with reflecting on your life and your experiences. It is the best way to conclude who you are now and what your plans for developing yourself in the future are.

I am a mom now so yes, I will be talking about things like this! So if you're transitioning like me, becoming more independent and looking for ways to make life easier for you, read on!

This is a weird confession but I like cleaning the bathroom. At least the one I use. I learned how to clean my bathroom at the age of 7 when I was living at my lola's house in Quezon City. The rules there were as long as you are using it, you clean it. But instead of it being a chore, it became an enjoyable activity for me. Praying hard my child acquire this trait, too! lol!

This thought has been weighing on my mind for some time now so apologies if this is going to be a little preachy. :)

Power of Makeup? Really?

How about Power of You instead? The power of your skills, of your talent to create a perfect liner? How come we are quick to say the reason we transformed into a beautiful person is because of makeup?

Makeup is a medium. Much like watercolors, pencil, pens, markers, paints, clay... I could go on forever.

When an artist uses a watercolor and creates a beautiful watercolor painting, we don't go around saying.. "Wow! The Power of Watercolor!" Or if we see a nice sculpture, do we say, "Oooh! The power of chisel!"? We don't! Rather we compliment the artist, we ask them for more of their creations.

Nobody looked up at the Sistine Chapel and pointed what brands Michelangelo used to paint it. Or even said that it didn't feel authentic because he covered the ceiling. Nobody judged a painter for soiling such a pristine white canvass. No writers were told to stop writing because they ruined a smooth and perfectly bound notebook. Rather, people pointed out their undeniable artistic talents. We revered it, put these talented artists in museums, learned from their techniques and even created full courses just to be like them!

Not that I think that anyone who can use an eyeliner is exactly an artist (although that is highly debatable if I'm honest about it!), but I don't think the credit is only because of makeup and the brands we use. I don't think for a second that I am only beautiful because of makeup. I am beautiful because of what I can do with it.

Worst is when people think that the only reason why we look the way we do is because of makeup. That's stupid. Really stupid. They think that makeup is the sole reason we can transform ourselves that without it we are nothing but a bunched of pale, uneven skin toned, pock-marked girls. Goddamn it, people! We are freaking good at what we do! It just so happens there is a world that caters to our whims and wants so it's easier for us to do what we are good at! It's that plain and it's really that simple.

Give the credit where the credit is due and most of it are because of YOU! (yes, I rhymed!)

Girl, you are fine! YOU are talented! Your makeup skills is off the charts!

You may have toyed and experimented with different makeup brands to perfect your wing tips and strobing techniques BUT everything you were able to do with your makeup, please don't forget, is all because of YOU! Your honed talents! Your countless nights learning techniques, learning from your own mistakes. You studied your face, where the light and shadows should be, you spent countless watching Youtube tutorials on how to blend eye shadows and some of you even joined classes and enrolled in courses.

Makeup is an art, a medium! It is even a profession! It's been for ages! Nobody can contest that! An eyeliner is just a tube with an ink in it if you didn't use that you give your eyes some depth. Your eye shadows are merely pressed pigments if you didn't use it to smoke out your eyes for a sultry effect. A liquid foundation is just liquid pigment if you didn't use it to even out your skin tone. All of these things are merely that, things... if not for your courage to use it and give it life using your hands and your skills. It doesn't even matter if you use the most expensive brands or the cheapest ones out there. Let's be honest, we can make it work because we make it work.

So the next time you think it's the Power of Makeup that makes you beautiful, please remember that it's really you who has the power. And if people have a problem with your before and after photos, just tell them it's because you're good at what you do! And that's the truth!
