Belo Intensive Whitening Bar
Not everyone has the money to buy all the expensive acne treatments or even have the money to visit a dermatologist. For someone who have spent a good amount of their life inside a dermatologist office and have tired gazillion of products, Kojic Acid soap has remained to one of the most effective soap that dries up all my cystic acne and whiten my dark spots.

This has been my best kept beauty secret that I have only revealed a time or two on social media but one I have been sharing to all my friends who suffer that same skin situation as I do.

Belo beauty has arrived for me when they created the Intensive Whitening Bar!

Let me introduce Pimpy. Pimpy is the bane of most Filipina's existence. Pimpy is the kind of thing that comes out when you least expect it. It seems to manage to come up at a time to look your best! Sometimes Pimpy doesn't come alone, it come with other Pimpies, too. Yes, it’s a Pimpy Takeover, a que horror moment that takes over your life almost every month (or daily if you’re like!)!

Pimpy or Pimpies are a pain. And for weeks after giving birth, I've been experiencing a Pimpy Takeover. I was hell-bent on going to back to work and being in PR, it is unacceptable to have Pimpies to take with me to work! So I decided to give Belo Essentials AcnePro a try. This new line promises to get rid of Pimpies in no time with a special ingredient that is very new! It contains Purified Bee Venom extracts that promise to treat mild to moderate acne and an effective anti-inflammatory treatment. And you know me, I like trying out new things!

I followed the 3-step Clear Skin Regimen, which really is quite easy. Take a look!

It's been a month since I first tried ISKIN New York that I got from Flawless. Two weeks in, I've seen great improvements with my skin. It feels a lot smoother, there were less breakouts and I couldn't be more relieved! When it comes to fulfilling the promise of giving my skin the best result, ISKIN did its job flawlessly.

Selfie is more fun with clear skin, right?

You know why I know this? In the past month that I was using ISKIN, I skipped using it for a couple of times and my skin broke out! I went out of town and forgot to pack the ISKIN (I didn't have time to transfer them to travel-size bottles). Day One, my skin was alright but come Day 2 bumps showed up proving that my skin needs intervention to stop acne from forming.

When I used this set again, in just matter of hours (applied products at night), the next morning, the acne already subsided! It didn't disappear but at least it wasn't as ginormous as the previous day. ISKIN is that good for pimple-ridden skin.

Going to the mall without makeup isn't a bad thing anymore. :)

ISKIN also improved wrinkles on my forehead that I don't feel that huge line whenever I raise my brows But what blew me away is how it lightened my stubborn post-acne marks. Getting a hormonal acne or two isn't so bad knowing that as it heals, ISKIN also helps lighten it.

I know that the set might be too much for many of you and it is after all pricey but coming from someone who used up most of her savings and earnings going to the doctor for treatments and prescriptions, I can say that this just might be what you need to try to finally see good results for your skin.

There will be times that drugstore won't do and your acne and other skin problems just might be more stubborn that it needs more than your regular pimple-fighting product. And quite honestly, compared to Obagi Nuderm, ISKIN New York is a few thousands cheaper.

Help your skin heal with proper nutrition and right amount of sleep, too. While using ISKIN, I also did my share of juicing, drank milk and ate more veggies which I think contributed to my now glowing skin. Iwas sleeping early, smoking less and I'm now currently 6 days smoke-free! Yey! I figured that I'm spending too much on the skincare that I might have to cut back on the junk food and cigs. Lol.

Caring for the skin is not an easy task for unfortunate ladies like myself who battles with cystic pimples, large pores and oily skin. There will be struggles, hits and misses and pain. But if you are patient, positive and maintain that level of belief in yourself (coupled with saving your extra moolah for better products), then you are halfway to getting that radiant glowing smooth skin.

I know I am!

ISKIN Transformation Kit (Php17,000) is exclusively available at Flawless.

Are you a soap person? If you are then you should try Mir & Ryvi Organic Bath Soaps. I've had these babies since last year and I didn't realize that I haven't blogged about them when I love them so much that I used up these products they sent last year in succesion.

There's nothing like using a bath soap that can double as a facial soap as well depending on your skin care concerns. And honestly, you can only get that from an organic or naturally made product. Case in point, Mir and Ryvi. A brand that wants to bring affordable products with the highest quality in skin care. The name alone was enough for me to get interested. Mir and Ryvi means peace and river which to me feels like they are one and goes with the flow of nature. Nice, right?

Going back to basics is something not many brands can easily pull off but Mir and Ryvi have done flawlessly by sourcing their products with care and dedication. Although I am not an all-organics girl, I appreciate the effort of a brand to bring us back to nature. Especially now that we're saturated with brands who brings scientific innovations at a daily basis.

What's great is that the people of Mir and Ryvi tries to give us options to target a specific skin care concern.

Mir and Ryvi Papaya Soap Skin Lightening Beauty Bar

Their Papaya Soap helps lighten the skin and reduces dullness with carefully chosen and sourced ingredients from here and abroad much like your typical whitening papaya soap from mass-produced brands. Sans the chemicals associated with it.

The're the Papaya enzyme, which you all know is a lightening agent but also an effective exfoliator. There is also Mulberry extract proven to help inhibit tyrosinase in our skin that cause melanin production. Combined with Vitamin B3, another lightening ingredient and the almost-always-present Vitamin E, this soap is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to skin lightening.

Personally, I like the feel and scent of the soap. Lightening might take a while with this compared to your regular papaya soap but it does the job in maintaining my fair skin as well as keeping it clean and soft.

Mir and Ryvi Tomato Soap Acne-Cleansing Bar

Tomato Soap is definitely a sensitive and acne-prone person's dream. Tomatoes are naturally good, it contains lycopene to help add glow to the skin and it's a also a natural anti-septic. It also an anti-oxidant to slow down skin aging. I down a glass of tomato juice when ever I can and my body can feel the change. So does the effects of this soap. My skin is very much problematic and I prefer to use this soap for my face. But on occasion I suffer from bacne, this is a must-use.

Mir and Ryvi's tomato soap contains ECOCERT anti-acne ingredients that helps improve the skin's texture as well as help heel acne. Like most natural products, patience is the key when seeing the results as our skin adjusts slowly from converting to a more simpler product. Add to that this also contains Vitamin B3, you are not only helping your skin heal from acne but also help slowly lighten the scars associated with pimples.

Mir and Ryvi Banana Soap Spot Lightening Beauty Bar

The Banana Soap is a must especially now that I'm nearing my 30's and I still deal with dark spots. The perfect blend of lightening and anti-aging, thanks to the banana (organic at that) that contains high levels of Vitamin A, B, C. I noticed that my dark spots, caused both by acne and sun exposure slowly lightened.

Coupled with Acerola, Cupuacu Butter along with more Vitamin A and E, this Banana Soap can help with reviving the skin's youthful feel. Personally, I'm not even after the anti-aging, the mere fact that this soap is extremely moisturizing, my face and body thanks me every time I use it given how soft and supple it feels after use. I even get to skip my lotion after bathing. Although it's not advisable for those with extremely dry skin.

This is an ideal gift for banana lovers as well as moms, aunts and anyone who is anti-aging enthusiast.

The bar in itself has one of the best integrity out of all the organic soaps I've tried. Honest enough to say that they use a minute amount of preservatives to help prevent molds and decay, Mir and Ryvi still manage to keep their bath soaps safe for use for anyone at any age.

It lathers well, too. Not the same as your regular soap, especially for their banana variant, but I do feel clean and moisturized after using it. Having managed to create 3 variants that tackles the most common skin issues, the brand has certainly made a mark in the community. Add to that Mir and Ryvi is proudly homegrown. And it's distributed by Beauty Bar, a store widely known for offering the best in cosmetics and skin care.

If you are in the organic path, Mir and Ryvi is definitely one of the brands that you should look up.

Spot treatment for acne is my life. I can't live without 'em. I'm nearing my big 3-0 and I still get pimples, thanks to my mom and dad's genes and poor health choices. Every time I'm about to get my period I am sure to get a zit or two. Even if I make a mistake of using a State-side toothpaste, I get zit on the chin! I live a hard life and that's why these baby comes in handy.

First, the cheapest.

It's Snoe's Shoo-Zit Don't Bother Me Spot On Spot Off Spot Treatment. I honestly was a bit skeptic at first after I saw that it doesn't contain the usual anti-acne ingredient salicylic acid. But biy did this one surprise me! It zapped my cystic acne in just 2 to 3 days. You'll see it ripen before your very eyes.

Also, it comes in a big bottle that I don't think anyone could ever use up! So you're really getting you're money's worth! And for Php395.00, who can complain?

Purefix-DC and Purewhite ingredients are derived from an exotic fern, like Salicylic Acid is derived from willow bark. It's still natural but processed in order for it to ski-grade (safe enough to use on our skin). Made popular by Koreans, I'm only too happy that a home-grown brand now carries this line. Great for women who have allergies from Salicylic and Benzoyl Peroxide.

And we move to the most expensive and luxurious of them all.

Pevonia Acne Spot Treatment Ligne Clarifyl! The most luxurious spot treatment I've tried. It contains top ingredients that are definitely familiar  like Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Aloe and Betaglucan.

I use this when my skin is acting up more than usual. This is great for people with dry skin but still gets acne and for those who doesn't mind shelling out big bucks for their skin. It doesn't sting at all.

Compared the other 3 featured in here, Ligne Clarifyl has a very liquid consistency so be careful dispensing it. My advise, get a cotton bud and use this to take product and then spot apply on your problem areas. Effectivity is definitely not compromised albeit takes longer for it to take effect. Allow 3 to 5 days for your cystic acne to subside. Cost is around Php4K.

Clinique Anti-Blemish Solution Spot Treatment Gel has never left my sight the moment I came home with it.

For about Php1k and nearing more than a year in my stash,  it has yet to hit the mid-part fo the bottle! That's how little you need to bust those pimples out and believe me when I said that this one has fought a lot of pimples! Won, too! This tiny baby has earned rave world wide. Even a few  of my relatives in the US are familiar with this as it is a staple for women there.

It has a gel-like consistency that comes out from this hygienic dropper-like tip. It's easy to dispense, doesn't dry out and best of all, it doesn't sting at all.

Another favorite is the VMV Hypoallergenics Red Better Spot Corrector.

For women battling against Roscacea but still get acne like crazy, grab this one immediately! Looking at the ingredients, I thought it will not even put a small dent on my acne. Boy was I surprised to see it subsiding overnight! You'll feel your pimple healing faster and if you catch a pimple before it bumps out, apply this and it wouldn't even come out

This is great for those with incredibly sensitive skin and those who loves their chemical peels. It's the mildest form of spot treatment out there. This is less than Php500. A bit expensive for such a small product, but a little goes a long way.

-o-

I've tested these for more than 3 months, some almost a year. I wouldn't list these here if they disappointed me. I know many of you may find a lot of these brands out for your pocket range. There are always cheaper brands that work, too but I haven't gotten to them just yet.

Spot treatments, however, is not something you can finish up in just a month. It's a sort of stand-by product that you reach in for when that insane zit surfaces out. So don't be afraid to get something really good for yourself.

Please note that Salicylic Acid and glycolic acid causes skin to peel. So please use SUNSCREEN when spot treating your pimples to avoid discoloration or hyperpigmentation. When using spot treatments, try doing it at nigh time only and skip your moisturizers on pimply parts of your face. Also, cleanse your it properly before applying.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions, feel free to comment them down below and I will get to them as soon as I can. You can always message me on facebook or twitter if you want! :)

Another great discovery last year was the brand, Yves Rocher. Their cosmetic line are amazing. But one that made the most impression is the the Pure System Pore Clearing Mask. It has a way of lessening my pimples like no other! It has salicylic acid coupled with aloe vera to soothe the skin.

I am in love with this mask. I do spot-treatment on my acne because it's that good. And best of all, it takes only 3 minutes and you can already wash them. Though I let it sit for about 10 to 15 minutes (which I know is bad since the mask is too strong and dries up the skin).

It's that quick solution whenever I get my period and along with it an army of pimples, cyctic ones. In just 3 to 4 days, those biatches are a goner! That's why this baby made it to the best of 2012! It works, it's cheap and it's amazing! :)

If you're looking for an effective mask to help with your acne, I can definitely vouch for this one. And it's affordable at under Php500. I think this is only Php475 and it lasts awhile!

How I use this:

  • Once a week or every two weeks, depending on how my skin is behaving.
  • Spot treatment in case there's a cystic acne that's abou to pop up.

You can get this at any Yves Rocher boutiques. :) Check out their Facebook page, they have all the branches there. :)

Consider yourself lucky to be living in a country wherein express facial is available and affordable. Just imagine that the Philippines really don't have a reason to look bad at all!  :)

My skin has been worst lately and I've been trying to maintain it with medication, spot treatments and such. But a lot of times, it needs more and that usually means a facial. But sometimes, I need it fast. No appointment needed and accepts client at the last minute.

This Holiday on a busy Friday evening, I went to Flawless to finally get that much-needed facial. It's a good thing that Flawless is celebrating their 11th year and they are making a 1 +1  Beauty Blow Out! And that's when you get 5 sessions, you 5 more for free!! :)

click this link and find out what procedures are included for the 1+1 Beauty Blowout.

I went ahead and availed the Acne Control Advanced Facial 1 + 1 Beauty Blowout for only Php4,400.00. That's Php440 per facial!

I've tried the Acne Control Advanced Facial several times already and it's a preferred facial for me the following reasons:

The mask is amazing! It dries up the pimples, lessens the redness after facial and has the cooling feel.

They have lavender scented oil to relax you before your facial begins.

Aesthetician have a good strategy on how to remove comedones without hurting you too much. They would start at forehead and slowly work their way down. They don't pinch the side of the nose too much if they haven't gotten to that part yet.

Facialist never rush the procedure.
They also pamper your hands by wrapping them with a hot compress.

Below is a photo of me 2 days after getting the facial.

It has a long way to go and I think I need to get their whitening range, but thank God it's just pigmentation and my skin is starting to clear up. I still get minor flare here and there but I'm I am getting it controlled.

And after that I get to be myself again, just like that!

Pimples doesn't have to put a hold on our life. This blog provides you with solutions for it and facials are definitely one of the most effective ways to prevent and contain them!

Before I forget, let's greet flawless a happy 10th birthday!!

Good morning, ladies!

It's the first Monday of December! How time flies! Only a few more weeks before Christmas and 2013! I'm here to start of the first week of the last month of the year 2012 with my first impressions about the Shoo-Zit Don't Bother Me anti-acne line from Snoe Beauty Inc.

Happy gorgeous Monday everyone!

For the start of the week, it'll be a skincare review. Since my last one was year kopong-kopong,  thought that it's high time I finally write something skin care-related. :)

It's been awhile since my last Snoe Beauty Product review. But that doens't mean I've stopped using their products. Quite the contrary, I've been using quite a lot of Snoe Beauty in my daily regimens. One of which, you will be seeing here today.

Enter the Awesome Poresome Retexturizing Polish. It's, to put it in it's simplest term, a facial scrub. What makes this unique though are its ingredients. Some of you might be familiar with already and some may not. Indulge me still to talk about the 3 main ingredients that garnered a spot in my skincare regimen.

Ingredient #1: Witch Hazel (reduces inflammation caused by acne)

As you all know Witch Hazel is a natural astringent extracted from the bark of a witch-hazel shrub. It has anti-inflammatory as well antibacterial properties that made this almost all apothecaries in the 1800's. It's widely used for treatment of boil, sores, bruises and other swelling maligns. It's also used for psoriasis, ezcema, to prevent sweating of the face, cracked skin, insect bites among others. Overall, it is great for the face especially when it's used as a cleansing agent like astringent or in this case, a facial polish.

Ingredient #2: Azeloglicina, a new ingredient and marriage between Azelaic Acid and Glycine.

Azeloglicina intrigued me since I don't think I've tried any product that contains the same. It's relatively a new innovation. Azelaic Acid is used for whitening, controlling oiliness and of treating  acne. It can be extremely drying. That's why it's a good thing that mixing it with glycine, a hydrating agent, makes this a tolerable and from the looks of the research much more effective.

Ingredient #3: Pineapple Extract

As we all know, Pineapple is rich in Vitamin A and C, and these two are known anti-oxidants that has great effect on our skin. You can actually mash up fresh pineapples and use it for a quick mask. :) Better yet, why not have a glass of pineapple juice everyday? :) But for those who dislike the sour taste of pineapples, happy to report that this one doesn't. Awesome Poresome Microdermabrasion Retexturizing Polish smells clean and minty (Thank goodness).

The Experience:

I don't usually use facial scrub, but I love that this one doesn't scratch the face. The beads are tolerable and it doesn't melt easily (I don't even think it does) so it's easier to work on the face compared to others I've tried. You know, no need to rub the face too much just to get the beads clean your pores.

It smells great which is always a plus for me. I'm very particular with all the scents of the products. I don't care if you're great, if I hate the scent, you're good to toss. I mean it. Seriously. This has a clean scent, not really sure what it is but it has the fresh out-of-shower fragrance.

Effects:

My skin's been so bad lately. As in terrible. I can't identify which yet but it could be hormonal as my OB suggested. I hope it isn't and it's just makeup or from stress or lack of sleep. Either way, my pimples are super cystic and whiteheads and blackheads been at it's worst. Out to get me really.

Including Awesome Poresome Retexturizing Polish in my skin regimen of twice to thrice a week has improved it so much better. Although i'm using an anti-acne regimen, I notice that every after I use this polish, my skin feels a lot smoother. The cooling sensation has also calmed my skin's redness.

Personally, the pores still look the same but it definitely improved because my whiteheads and blackheads have significantly lessened. Now, I've been using this for months before I actually posted this review. So don't expect too much difference.

Awesome Poresome Retexturizing Polish | P399

Exfoliation or scrubbing is not a new concept in beauty rituals. In the the olden times, women uses salt, sugar and grains to removes stubborn dirt from their bodies and their faces. They also used abrasive cloth for cleansing during their baths. But the skin can only take so much trauma, so it's not advisable to do this everyday. Especially for our faces.

Awesome Poresome Retexturizing Polish is what you would call a mechanical exfoliation. You can use this at the comfort of your home and no need for machines or chemicals. But like I mentioned, you won't be seeing any results as fast as you would when you get chemical peel or a diamond peel.

How to:

Make sure the face is a tad wet and slowly work the products on to your face. Slowly and don't press on your fingers to the face. With light pressure, let the bead work itself into removing and exfoliating your skin. Do a circular motion starting from the nose working your out.

If you want the whole experience, you may find the Awesome Poresome skin care line a good match with Awesome Poresome Retexturizing Polish.
I will be reviewing this soon!

`
For the price of Php399, Snoe Beauty's Awesome Poresome Microdermabrasion Retexturizing Polish makes a good facial scrub. You only use it twice or thrice a week and you'll see great results. So instead of going for a diamond or a chemical peel, try this instead first. Your pretty face might just benefit from a bit of rough love.

Do you also include facial scrub in your beauty rituals? :)

When living in a tropical country and the sun shines on us most of the time, seeing SPF 60 on a foundation descrip could be life changing. I exaggerate of course. But then again, wouldn't it be convenient? Island girls have skin that easily tans, have larger pores and tend to be on the oilier side. And since most oily skinned ladies tend to have pimples, blemishes is natural aftermath.

And if you are exactly what I just describe and you are as "conscious" as I am when it comes to their skin, you apply both sunblock and skincare all at the same time. Am I right or am I right?

Enter VMV Hypollergenics Skin Savvy 60 Foundation, a second version of their former one of the same name. The one that earned a spot on my Top Makeup Picks for 2010. This new one comes in a bottle and hygeniece pump and contains more products (albeit a bit more expensive).

Like it's predecessor  the new Skin Savvy 60 has become quite a favorite. It's got high SPF that allows me to skip sunblock. It's got a semi-matte finish that gives a medium to full coverage. Compared to the former one, the new Skin Savvy has better coverage, easy blendability and better staying power.

What I love that it retained its feature that doesn't aggravate pimples nor does it cause it. It's actually ideal for those who currently are battling with pimples and cystic acne who wants the benefit of both sunscreen and coverage in one. Since Skin Savvy is both, it's ideal for thosw hwo want to apply less products during your A.M. regimen.

On the shades though, I still think that VMV needs to work on providing more options for many skin tones. After all, they are a global brand. :)

Let me show you the effects of VMV Skin Savvy 60 Foundation. :)

I was surprised it held ground pretty well. Last Friday, I went for both work and play and found that my the foundation was still quite intact up until the evening. Given I've had glycolic facial at Flawless recently, I thought it was nonetheless performed well.

No irritation, truly hypoallergenic skin, this seems to be a perfect foundation for those with sensitive skin and those who enjoy laser and skin peeling procedures. :)

Is it worth your money? I think so. It works for me and I think my skin is like most women out there, maybe even worst. I suggest you try this out first. Go for a makeuove at a VMV counter, see if you like it. Skin Savvy is pretty steep and is on the high end. Some also doesn't like the high SF as it tends give a white cast on photos. I didn't really experience any of that.

I love it and it's a great foundation for those who are frequently exposed to the sun, have oily skin and are prone to breakouts. :) And you know I don't say these things lightly when it comes to foundations. :)

Have you tried Skin Savvy 60 Foundation? Let me know what you think and comment below. If you have more questions, ones that aren't addressed here, please feel free to send me an inquiry or by writing them at the comment section below. :)

Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Spot Gel
Treatment
Before anything else, please consult your doctor or dermatologist before trying out any skin care that is featured in this blog. :) Our skin may have similarities but there may be ingredients that work for me that may not necessarily work for you.

I love Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Spot Treatment Gel!

Have you ever experienced that moment when you realize that you have a zit coming on? Or waking up with a full-on zit right on top on your nose with matching white head to accompany it? Do I feel some of you raising your hands and feet? Hehehe!

But of course, a lot of Filipinas super from oily skin and with oily skin comes larger pores. And with large pores, we become more prone to comedones (whiteheads and blackheads), which usually turn into ugly red cystic pimples.

Unless you have healthy oil-free diet, exercise a lot, drink lots and lots of fluid, don't use makeup, you need a stronger reinforcement to eliminate those icky yucky pimples. If you've been using a good acne regimen, you'll notice it is not enough when you have inflamed acne.

Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Spot Treatment Gel

That's where spot treatment gel for acne comes into play. It's an immediate relief as it dries out pimples quickly, lessens the redness and bumps so you don't have to suffer too many days with it.

One of those that I really like is the Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Spot Treatment Gel. It is by far one of the best products that I've tried that gives quick results. Even if it comes with a high price tag, this one works like magic in drying up my pimples!

It only takes about 24 hours to dry up a small to moderate acne. And 2 to 3 days for large cystic acne to lessen the redness and bump. You might still want to consult a derma or have it injected for it to completely disappear

How I use it:

  • AM: Cleanse, tone, medicate, spot, sunblock.
  • PM: Cleanse, tone, medicate, spot, serum/moisturize, spot.

Another good thing that I like about the Clinique Anti-Blemish Spot Treatment Solution is the fact that it doesn't darken the skin even if there's a bit of stinging sensation when i apply it to a painful inflamed acne. Some treatment gels are fact-acting but it causes minor burning that results to dark spots. That's a bit difficult especially if you're the type to tan easily. So far, I have not experienced this with Clinique and it's been great for my skin.

I even think tht my skin have become smoother and softer because of it. It must be because of the Witch Hazel and the Salicylic Acid ingredients! :)

I can't tell you enough how this treatment have helped me. Especially during those times I can't visit my derma and those times that I've had to slept late and all stresed from work. It's not exactly a miracle product but the fact that it reduces a good amount of redness, bump and irritation!

This gets 5 stars in my book!

If you're the type to scrimp on your budget but really want this product, wait for Clinique Bonus Time. They hold this twice a year and you get tons of products for free on top of your purchase!
