Spotted: Rexona Skin Light Press Launch. Lighten Up!

Early in May when I got an invite from Nikki to attend an event with her. I'm only too glad to accept since it was also Jheng's birthday, which will give me time to see her after since the location of the event is near her office.

Skin care events are very interesting since it introduces products that can benefit many of us.

Rexona introduces their new variant of anti-perspirant deo that aims to deal with underarm dsarkening. Skin Light with Sunflower Oil is an answer to a lot of Filipinas out there experiencing dark underarm. This dark secret is now resolved by Rexona's highly trained and skilled scientist. Lighten Up!

To introduce this new product, Angel Jacob, a fellow alumni of my college, hosted the event.

She's incredibly beautiful and her tan just made her glow throughout the evening.

Here Angel conversed with a popular Dermatologist about the bad effects of tweexing and shaving underarm hairs and how it cause irritations that lead to the darkening of underarm skin. We all know that of course, but who here can't help not to tweez or shave?

On a tele-conference, Dr. Marti explained the wonderful works of Rexona all over the world. And now with his studies, he brings to us a new product that focuses on a problem many Asian women deaks with.

I'm sure you've seen these products on magazines, TV commercials and other ad media.

Rexona Skin Light is available in the following forms.

I personally use this and found that my underarm skin is lighter and softer even after shaving. :)

Me at the Rexona event. ;)
You can see Ms. Isabel Roces conversing with the Style Manila's Sasha M.

Nikki of Askmewhats and me. :)

Til next event!

I wish for Urban Decay Cream Shadows

I'm lemming for these lately. As much as I can't get rid of Nikon D60 on my mind, I also can't remove these from my head.

If Power of Attraction works, then I will have the complete collection of these on or before my birthday (along with a brand spanking new Nikon D60 Kit) as a gift.

Urban Decay Cream Shadows
long lasting high-tech colors

"Cream Shadow channels the sex appeal of the 70’s and the science of today! Whipped to perfection, each shimmering shade dries to a weightless layer of color that will not crease, fade, or hide in fine lines. Unlike most cream shadows, our gel-based formula features silicone technology, allowing time to blend, correct and smudge. Once dry, shadow is light and as flexible as your own skin.

The tube is travel-friendly and mess-free. Use the attached flocked applicator to shade the entire lid. Or, get artistic and squeeze Cream right from the tube: you can also apply Cream with your fingertips or your own brushes!

Tips: • A little goes a long way! To build your color, apply a thin coat, let dry, and apply additional coats to get the color you desire. • Staying power is enhanced when used in conjunction with Eyeshadow Primer Potion! • If there’s a powder shadow and a Cream in your look for the day, apply your Cream shadow first for the best blending experience. • Try mixing pink or gold shades into foundation for a fresh, dewy look."

I doubt I could ever get a chance to try this since its not available here in Manila, Philippines nor can I spend $204 for the entire collection. I just can't get over how fab this product could be as a base or an alone color on the lids since its gel-based.

I'd be happy if I would own any or all the colors below:

Asphalt: black w/ lots of silver & iridescent glitter
Delinquent: deep metallic Purple
Suburbia: medium bronze w/ subtle gold microsparkle
Grass: metallic junebug green
Whipped: golden peach w/ subtle gold microsparkle

If any people from Urban Decay out there sees this and wishes to fulfill my wish, my email is gee(underscore)leeshen(at)yahoo(dot)com. lol! I'm crazy over this product, I actually typed that. LOL!

all photos and description are owned by I just borrowed it.

Urban Decay Cream Shadows are Available at Urban Decay Website, and Sephora branches.

Shen closes her eyes and wishes fervently that her fairy godmother grants this wish...

Eye-Spy/EOTD: Divine, Gold Fever (NEW Ellana Eyeshadow)

Eye-spy, a new eyeshadow!

Many of my good friends know that I love gold, from accessories to shoes and bags. It's probably my most favorite color in the whole wide world (at par with white and black). That's why I'm very excited to show you that Ellana Mineral Cosmetics now has, in my opinion, a true 24k gold eyeshadow, named Divine. I immediately got one as soon as I've learned of this from its owner. I didn't even take time to take a picture of the eyeshadow on the pot when i got my orders. I used it immediately!

is superbly pigmented! I can't even tell you how much but just look at the eye photos.

I'm just really in love with the color. I even wore it in the office just so i could try it out. Imagine using this as an eyeliner, color in the inner part of the lids or to line your lower lash lid?
The choices of how to use it are endless.

In daylight, inside the car. NOTE: This is NOT foiled!

Applied Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Liners in Honey (24k gold)

with flash, not foiled, packed on lightly once.
blended using MAC 222.
UDPP applied first.
Stila Ebony eyeshadow applied on the outer lid.
No eyeliner

Honestly, I'm just happy to know that a 24k kind of gold eyeshadow is now available to us. Ellana Mineral Cosmetics truly tries to provide everything mineral to us Pinays.

You've seen it here first! (I hope!)

5th lesson: Bronzed Look

Our lessons were very much enjoying. The bronzed look was something unexpected but I just learned that many makeup schools abroad have this in their curriculum and I just consider myself lucky that I can recreate it on my model. Teach, what we call our teacher, taught us the proper way and the easiest way to achieve the bronze look. Think MAC's Style Warrior and Naked Honey Collection.

Unfortunately, I didn't nail the bronzed look all that well. I didn't provide my model a more tanned look. For whatever reason, it lapsed my better judgment to apply more. I'm hoping that in time, I will be more observant when doing someone else's makeup. i'm sure with time and lots of practice, I will perfect this bronzed look. :)

How about you? What do you think?

I mainly used the darkest shade of foundation that I have. then I applied blush that will provide a healthy glow. So as not to give an impression of just a tanned look, i gave her big lashes to accentuate her eyes. I opted for gold pale lips to finish off this look.

She kinds reminds me of those MTV video looks that music artists sports.

Overall, I was in a way pleased that I was able to follow the steps our teacher gave us. But still, its a working progress. :) It's true that you can't learn everything in a day. Also must learn to be more resilient and open to positive and negative remarks.

If you want to recreate this look, just your darkest foundation available.
Define the eyes so it won't get eat up from the tan.
Use a darker contour powder to define the face as the face will show flat on the picture.
Don't forget to give the cheeks a nice glow for a healthy look.

I was humbled with the knowledge that I was getting from the class. Despite countless articles, tips, reviews etc. that I've read, I still have much to learn.

much love,

Shu Uemura Tokyo Lash Bar 2009

"A fashion statement for the eyes, exclusively from the atelier artists of shu uemura, Tokyo Lash Bars Lashes in Nature offers the most artistic collection of false eye lashes yet. The dynamic meeting of minds, personalities, geographic locations and aesthetic approaches of shu uemura makeup masters Gina Brooke, Kakuyasu Uchiide, Yuji Asano and Mina Matsumura resulted in nine wearable masterpieces. Infused with inspiration from flowers, forests, oceans and the sky, all lashes are a perfect balance of nature, science and art. With a lash for every eye, Lashes in Nature offers bold, charming, delicate, dramatic and cheeky options in the forms extravagant premium, decorative statement and everyday accent lashes."

gold glam leaf (PREMIUM EDITION)
Emotionally stirred by how the forest nurtures and provides shelter for its inhabitants, Kakuyasu Uchiide designed a pair of lashes that recreate the beauty and delicacy of leaves.
These glimmering lashes made from real skeleton leaves are drenched in glimmering gold. Transparent crystals sit atop this hand-crafted piece of art for a glistening, captivating look.

celestial horizon
Looking to the sky and the many ways light emanates from it, Mina Matsumura captured nature’s celestial miracles in three pairs of lashes.

Each lash is made from thin, milky white wires. Frosted pink teardrop crystals enhance the lower lash.

fleur ever (PREMIUM EDITION)

Inspired by a flowers ability to lift spirits and engender energy, Gina Brooke created three pairs of false eyelashes as a way to share her sensibilities with the world
This lashs design emulates the tail of a bird whose exotic purple plumage is accented with white flecking. Petal-like forms hide inside the lashes, bringing to mind a bouquet of sweet peonies. Perfect for any extravagant or fanciful look.

marine tide - premium edition

Spending much of his time at the beach, Yuji Asano looked to the sea for inspiration when creating his lashes. One of nature's most profound marvels, the ocean with its vastness and crashing waves can calm and rejuvenate the spirit. The unique curl design of this lash echoes the undulating roll of the ocean's tidal cycle. This striking lash also references Mr. Uemura's iconic "umbrella" eyelash. It is weaved with multiple shades of blue, from sea and sky blue to deep turquoise, accented with a sprinkling of white foam.

Now that I have much confidence in applying false eyelashes, I don't feel bad investing in these wonderful eyelashes for future works, once it hits our tropical shores. :)

Kiehl's Yerba Maté Tea Gel-Cream (moisturize and indulge!)

I'm sure you're not surprise to hear that I am not very much a fan of moisturizers since in my opinion, it aggravates my oily skin more. My thought was that if my skin is oily, why use moistuirzers when its aim is to hydrate skin. More so, I always thought that dry skin are more in need if moisturizers. You couldn't hardly blame me since moisturizers are advertised for dry skin.

I thought wrong. Oily skin still needs hydration. and from what I learned in my years of going to and fro dermatologists, moisturizers helps calm oiliness. After washing, when the facial skin is at it driest it sends signals to produce oil to compensate for the lacking moisture. Hence, oily face in minutes after bathing. Applying moisturizers after wash or toning prevents your skin from producing oil, sending a signal that it isn't needed anymore. Cool, right?

So, lately, I've been induling my face with Kiehl's newest skin care line, Yerba-Mate Tea Gel Cream, an oil-free moisturizer to improve skin texture and radiance. And I must say that it has been improving indeed. :)

Kiehl’s Since 1851, the venerable New York-based purveyor of fine quality skin and hair care is proud to introduce the latest extension to the extraordinary Yerba Maté collection, the Yerba Maté Gel Cream. The entire collection of formulations are infused with a unique extract derived from Yerba Maté – an extraordinary, nutrient-packed botanical native to South America that contains nearly all of the vitamins necessary to sustain life.

Yerba Maté Tea Gel-Cream can be a seasonal substitute for the Yerba Maté lotion or another moisturizing option for customers who seek a richer texture year round.

This facial moisturizer is formulated with an extract derived from Yerba Maté, an extraordinary South American herb, to help combat dullness and maintain its healthful and youthful vivacity. Our lightweight gel-cream helps improve skin texture, clarity and radiance without clogging pores.

Key Formula Attributes:

• Rich moisturizing gel-cream texture
• Yerba Maté: key natural ingredient native to South America that contains 24 vitamins and minerals; 15 amino acids; 11 powerful antioxidants

YERBA MATÉ Skin Care Line

A nutrient-packed botanical native to South America, contains practically all of the vitamins necessary to sustain life. Yerba Maté provides a unique anti-glycation* action on skin (higher than green tea), helping to reverse the breakdown of collagen to maintain a youthful appearance. Yerba Mate is also know to induce mental clarity, sustain energy levels, reduce fatigue, boost immune system defenses, provide anti-oxidant protection, help relieve allergies and aid in weight control.

Helps create a radiant complexion by reducing glycation and skin roughness. Also called “long-life” fungus – “Elixir de longue vie” – it is rich in oligosaccharides, glucuronic acid (detoxification), tannins, gallates derivatives (antioxidant) and various Vitamins (type B).

High in natural fruit acids and have the highest percentage of Vitamin C of all the fruits. Its extracts from the fruit and essential oil (expressed from the peel) have astringent and antiseptic quality that freshens, stimulates and rejuvenates sluggish skin and adds lustrous shine to the hair. In aromatherapy, lemons inspire a cooling, refreshing and uplifting feeling.

The nectar produced in flowers and then collected and stored by bees. It is composed of a variety of sugars, wax, and other substances, including citric, malic, formic, and lactic acids; beta carotene; enzymes; amino acids and vitamins. It is used as an emollient in skin care and creates a watertight film, allowing skin to rehydrate itself. Moisturizing, softening, sweet and fragrant.

• The yerba maté is a small tree native to the subtropical Atlantic forests of modern day Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina.
• The area’s indigenous peoples, the Guarani, have revered the tree for centuries, deriving from its leaves a tea referred to as “the drink of the gods.” It has traditionally been consumed to enhance health, vitality and longevity and to boost immune defenses.
• Today, millions of South Americans imbibe maté as a healthful alternative to coffee and a prime source of daily nutrition.

In 1964, an investigation by the Pasteur Institute concluded, “it is difficult to find a plant in any area of the world equal to mate in nutritional value” and that contains “practically all of the vitamins necessary to sustain life.” Properties of the Yerba Maté herb:

• Contains 24 vitamins and minerals, 15 amino acids, and 11 antioxidants
• Traditionally known for its revitalizing properties
• Provides anti-oxidant protection
• Sustains energy levels and reduces fatigue
• Induces mental clarity and boosts immune defense

It's all not surprising that our favorite drinks are now popular skin care products such as milk, tea and coffee, given. Yerba-Mate Tea is also popular as a drink or to some, an elixir ,in South America, boasted as a drink to provide focus and alertness. Now, imagine your skin having a drink of Yerba-Mate Tea, boosting your skin with all these nutrients. It can only be said that it will lead to a clearer, more supple skin.

And it's oil-free! (yey for me!)

Much love,

Yerba Maté Tea Gel-Cream 1.7oz/50mL is selling for P1,800.

42 Color Double Stack with Blush Palette (Matte and Shimmer)

It was a happy day for me the day after I graduated from makeup school when I received these two palettes. Like gifts for job well done. So, I immediately unwrapped them when I came home from work and tested them out.

I've always been intrigued with a lot of those cheaper palettes available in the market. Now that I am pursuing my dreams of becoming a makeup artist I am all for testing products that'll help me with in the said profession. Because if there is one thing I learn in makeup school, it is unwise to invest in products you rarely use or don't know how to use. :D

Kat has been my fave seller for quite sometime now for reasons that I've met her in person. She's got a great disposition and very patient especially when meeting with her clients. Of course, I soon got lazy and tried her shipping method to purchase makeups from her. :)

Now, let's see what's inside...

On to the shimmers...

I'm glad I have these palettes. Not to mention that its a steal at P1250.00 each at SpacePretty Store.

  • No matter how pigmented or long-lasting your eyeshadows may promise, i still recommend using an eyeshadow primer, like Urban Decay Primer Potion or Too Faced Shadow Insurance. This makes your eyeshadows last longer. Believe me, you don't want to end up with a rainbow eyes all messed up at the end of the day.
  • I highly suggest using a base when using panned eyeshadows, like MAC Shadestick Beige-ing, Paintpots, NYX Jumbo Pencils, Careline Colorsticks or any cream base to make blending easier. Also, the eyeshadows will have something to stick itself too.
  • Using your thinnest eyeshadow brush. Dip the tip of your brush on to your desired color and line your upper lashline with the color you picked as you would an eyeliner. Then blend upwards to ensure all your inner lids are covered. Use more or your desired intensity.
  • The 10pc blush set in the palettes above looks a lot like my old 10pc Blush Palette. Talk about shooting two birds with one stone buying this palette.
  • So darn handy! can see myself bringing this when i travel. :)

  • For those who are considering makeup school, these sets are very helpful for your classes.
  • For those who loves makeups but has little budget for different colors of eyeshadows and/or shades for blushes but still want quality makeups (its not UP there but will do nicely) then this is for you.
  • If you're like me who loves colors and love palettes like crazy. :)

It's never too late to do something you love. Believe me, its worth it. :)

much love,

Palettes featured are available at SpacePretty-Store for only P1250.00 each.

3rd lesson: Smokey Look (one-toned)

Smokey Look must be one of my favorite makeup application. I completely adore Georgina's eye looks on Gossip Girl that it has been my wish to properly learn this very famous eye makeup application. For years, celebrity has strutted sported this look. And every makeup artist must have their own version of attaining this eye-defining look.

Ms. Cheryl taught us the basic way to achieve the one-tone smokey eyes, using only a black eyeshadow and black eyeliner. Simple right? With practice, yes. Although I must admit that I had a difficult time blending the black eyeshadow without making it look dirty or giving my model a halloween look. LOL!

(thanks to kim for the the tip in merging photos.)

I only used one eyeshadow flat brush to create this look!
I'm not scared to waterline eyes anymore no matter how difficult it is to do on others.

1. There is no reason to buy new makeups to achieve this look. I only had to look at my stash to see that I have all that I need. So I suggest that before you invest on expensive makeups, see if you already have the necessary things in your makeup kit before splurging.

Tools that helped me achieve this look:

I relied on the black eyeshadow of my 28 pc. Neutral Palette to create the smokey eyes seen above. While I used the 10 pc. Blush Pallette to give glow to my model's cheeks. As for the eyeliner, I used my MAC Ebony eyeliner I got from the Fafi Collection. The false eyelashes are bought inexpensively from Landmark Department Store.

Where to get such pallette? Visit Space Pretty's Ebay Store to see which palette that will suit you. :)

It's a very liberating experience when all your doubts are set aside. That's how I feel everyday I attended this class.

much love,

Its truly a fun class! :)

1st Lesson: No Makeup Look

Of course, it is only natural if not the most basic that we are taught to create the No Makeup Look. It's probably what I would consider quite a challenge since you know how "colorful" i can be with my makeup. :)

The model, Elise, is only 15 years old but still looks younger than her age. This makeup look is very much appropriate for her. I hope I was able to do my best with this look.

this is not a before and after looks, just two different lighting effect from my cam. :)

I used a light foundation for her fair skin and little to no concealer because her skin is very clear. I also avoided shaving her brows because of her age, I only touched it up with a brow powder. Contoured her face lightly as per teacher's order. Gave her a soft blush just enough to pop her cheeks. Glossed over some MAC Cremesheen in Melt in your Mouth.

The eyes is just a wash of beige eyeshadow all over the lids and soft definition of plum eyeshadow on the outer crease of her eyes. Since she had gorgeous eyelashes, I curled it the best I could (i'm scared of curling someone else's eyelashes). Lastly, I applied mascara to coat her curly lashes.

I love how it turned out. She looked so fresh. I planned to do the same for my goddaughter's birthday party on August but with a little dazzling of rhinestones on the side of her face for her themed birthday party.

Thanks to Nikki and Kim for sharing their makeups with me for this look. :)

Much love,

FOTD: Blue and Gold Eyes (Ellana Eyeshadows) + Thoughts on Makeup School

As you all know, I've enrolled in a Makeup Artistry Course that is quite very intensive and very much time-consuming. But nevertheless, the best few days in my life. And to share is with Nikki and Kim, fellow beauty bloggers, made it all the more enjoyable.

I thought I came to the class full of knowledge about how to do makeup.. Boy, was I so wrong. Apparently, I know very little. I learned so much in just a few days in class. Though makeup is an art, it requires a lot thinking process as well. You have to be at your best to make someone feel good about themselves thru their makeup. Our teacher is so open in sharing the knowledge she have. The class is very much interactive and comfortable. I've received comments that it was one of the most alive class ever. There is still so much more to learn and I can't wait! I'm dying to learn how to do bridal makeup. Its one of my most anticipated lesson! And that's tomorrow!

Oh well, here's my look on the first day of class. :)

Ellana MPM in Fantasy (foiled)
Ellana MPM in Thrilled
MAC Femme Fi (highlight)
CS Gel Liner in Black (c/o Makeup Masala)
Maybelline Cat Eyes Mascara
UD 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in Electric (lower lashline)

Ellana Lipgloss pen in Smooch

Wish me luck in class coz i truly truly need it!!

Haul: Givenchy Phenomen'eyes and Maybelline Cat Eyes Mascara

Nearly a year ago, I've posted Givenchy's greatest innovation when it comes to mascara, Phenomen'eyes Mascara. As you all know, Givenchy is not available here in our beautiful country, Philippines.

Guess what? I now have one!

My dear beauty blogger Phoebe, the Swiper, bought two of these babies and considered selling the other one to me since she found black bit too much for her in terms of color intensity. Of course, I grabbed the chance and met up with her one day to purchase it. You can't imagine my elation when I saw this for the first time!

Let's take a closer look as i know you're as curious as I am when it comes to new products, especially those not available here, :)

How did it fair with my lashes? See for yourself. As for me, I was very very very satisfied!

after: one coat

after: two coats

Thoughts on the product: WOW!!! And surprisingly, for a first-time user I didn't find it too difficult to use this product. I just have to be wary not to touch my lids with the spherical mascara brush.

More thoughts on the product: Don't get too excited and call your relatives right now to have them buy Givenchy Phenomen'eyes for you.

Although I am very much in love with this product, I don't think i would recommend this to all of you especially since its very expensive, unavailable here in Manila and may need getting use to. Yes, it is also very impractical if you don't plan to use it at every opportunity and/or can find something else that provides the same results.

If you wish to achieve the same effect, I suggest you try Maybelline Volum' Express Cat Eyes Mascara. In my opinion, it also achieves the the lengthening effect Phenomen'eyes does. I've used Cat Eyes several times and found no significant difference. Doesn't clump so much as well and can reach even your inner lashes and easier to use.

Available at all leading beauty/drugstore for only about P475.00. I got mine at Landmark Department Store, just a day after it was released. LOL!

You may read Sutil's review on it on her blog.

If you really set your mind on it... You'll achieve it. I'm a live testament to it!
Thanks again, Phoebe, for giving me an opportunity to own Givenchy's Phenomen'eyes.

Much love,
