If you're eager to change something but you don't want it to be a drastic sort of change then read on, this is something that will surely interests you.

I would only call it fate when I scored a schedule with Dra. Kaycee of the much-raved clinic, Luminisce in Fort Bonifacio. She's a well-known dermatologist to some of the popular influencers and celebrities in the country.

THE PROBLEM

February 2017 - At age 33, I was alarmed to see that my skin is starting to get fine lines and wrinkles on the furrow area (skin between the brows and nose bridge). It wasn't the cute kind either... it's the ones that made you look masungit like  I saw it on my mom's and I could see it in mine. The 11's that shows everytime I frown  was depressing the hell out of me. I know I have internal issues that I have to deal with but I didn't want my face to show it and I'm not in the world of beauty to not know what I gotta do about it. Consider this a band-aid fix, avery beautiful one and one I would use again if the world demands me to look my best.

For weeks, my confidence was at its lowest. My skin was so bad that I found no joy at all in beauty blogging. Though my skin care products were a great help, the breakouts were non-stop. Every week, I would find myself mauling on a new ripened cystic acne! Add to that the dark spots I have to deal wth after, sullenness of skin and fine line, wrinkles and gigantic pores that looked like sink holes. sad to say that no makeup could cover the state of my skin...

I really felt hopeless and finally gave up. I was ready to get myself checked up by a dermatologist.

One of the things I didn't expect at all when R and I had a child was how hands-on he was. He wanted to be involved in every aspect of caring for Claud. I truly felt blessed having him for a husband and a father to my child. That is why Father's Day became an important event in our family.  Even if Father's day is still week away, I already wanted to celebrate it and give daddy R the best Fathers Day treat this year.

What better way than to plan a relaxing day at the spa, his most favorite place! Ever since I've known him, daddy R is never a the type to indulge himself. But he would never ever say no to getting a massage. He would never plan it and always wait for me to ask him to go get one so knew this is exactly what would make him happy!

Toccare Spa has a special Father's Day Package aptly named Father's Day Delight. This package includes their famous Hilot Massage and Express Gentleman's Facial using Pevonia products that lasts 90 minutes and cost only Php1900! Naturally, I booked this for R and I and a day of movie and dinner afterwards.

Toccare Spa was nice enough to give us a tour of the place when we got there. The ambiance definitely felt calming and tranquil. Their rooms are named with gem stones and their rooms are designed to meet every kind of spa demands. There's a room for barkadas, for couples and even an adjoining rooms. Their facilities are also well kept, clean and complete. There's a dry and wet sauna, a jacuzzi, shower rooms and toilets.

It's his day so he should have a mandatory photo with the spa signage. Hehehe!

Consider yourself lucky to be living in a country wherein express facial is available and affordable. Just imagine that the Philippines really don't have a reason to look bad at all!  :)

My skin has been worst lately and I've been trying to maintain it with medication, spot treatments and such. But a lot of times, it needs more and that usually means a facial. But sometimes, I need it fast. No appointment needed and accepts client at the last minute.

This Holiday on a busy Friday evening, I went to Flawless to finally get that much-needed facial. It's a good thing that Flawless is celebrating their 11th year and they are making a 1 +1  Beauty Blow Out! And that's when you get 5 sessions, you 5 more for free!! :)

click this link and find out what procedures are included for the 1+1 Beauty Blowout.

I went ahead and availed the Acne Control Advanced Facial 1 + 1 Beauty Blowout for only Php4,400.00. That's Php440 per facial!

I've tried the Acne Control Advanced Facial several times already and it's a preferred facial for me the following reasons:

The mask is amazing! It dries up the pimples, lessens the redness after facial and has the cooling feel.

They have lavender scented oil to relax you before your facial begins.

Aesthetician have a good strategy on how to remove comedones without hurting you too much. They would start at forehead and slowly work their way down. They don't pinch the side of the nose too much if they haven't gotten to that part yet.

Facialist never rush the procedure.
They also pamper your hands by wrapping them with a hot compress.

Below is a photo of me 2 days after getting the facial.

It has a long way to go and I think I need to get their whitening range, but thank God it's just pigmentation and my skin is starting to clear up. I still get minor flare here and there but I'm I am getting it controlled.

And after that I get to be myself again, just like that!

Pimples doesn't have to put a hold on our life. This blog provides you with solutions for it and facials are definitely one of the most effective ways to prevent and contain them!

for more information about this facial, visit flawless.com.ph!

Before I forget, let's greet flawless a happy 10th birthday!!

Aren't you happy its Saturday? I am! I happy it's weekend, period! Most of my friends love to visit the spa come weekends. But me, it takes a lot of effort to drag me out of the house. I'd rather swim in bed all day, smell my pillow while I watch my favorite TV series. That's usually watching reruns of The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother. Nothing like a good comedy show to take away the stress of the previous week.

Some weekends however, I make it worthwhile. I do facials, footspa and hair deep conditioning. All at the comfort of my own home. You got that right... Who needs to go out in this rainy weather when yu can bring the spa to you.

And I don't mean chop and grind the ingredients for all the things you'll need. That's hard work and you'll probably need a real spa after doing all those things. What I mean is gathering all those spa products you've been hoarding and just use them.

In my case, it's Mario Badescu Skin Care for my DIY facial spa. :)

Here's the 5 steps I do when I'm too lazy to get out of the house and go to my facialist.

Enzyme Cleansing Gel (for all types of skin)

Our gentle non – foaming cleansing gel uses natural alpha hydroxy acid to remove oil, make – up and pore – clogging debris that causes breakouts. Php 745

Nothing like a good cleansing wash to get rid of all the grime, makeup and oil from your face. Enzyme Cleansing Gel has alpha hydroxy acid, great for de-clogging pores and keeping g the skin smooth and wrinkle free. :)

Papaya and Grapefruit extract also helps in exfoliating skin and getting rid of deep-seated dirt.

Super Collagen mask (for combination, dry and sensitive skin)

Keep skin firm, toned and healthy with our replenishing collagen mask. Php 1,145

When my skin is doing well, I prefer to use this mask to plump up my skin. It can get dull sometimes and a little battered from all my acne medication so a mask light this really helps. You can also use sheet mask if your concern is more brightening and hydration. But the Collagen mask also doesn't dry out the skin.

Kaolin clay and Oatmeal help absorb excess oil from the skin.
Collagen is a good anti-aging ingredients, helps blood circulation and plumps the skin.
Almond & Honey Non – Abrasive Face Scrub (for all types of skin)
Almond and honey extracts provide skin with necessary nutrients while gently buffing away dry, flaky skin and dulling build up. Php 945

This scrub smells heavenly. Reminds me of my grandmother's expensive creams. :) It's a bit rougher than my usual scrub but so creamy you won't even notice it. Definitely one of the best scrub to own. :)

Almond makes skin soft and smooth, a fabulous anti-aging ingredient.
Honey is a natural anti-oxidant and anti-bacterial so great for those with aging concerns and needs blemish control.

This is my first time to try Mario Badescu skincare products and I am loving them! :) No wonder a lot of celebrities (including our favorite Sarah Jessica Parker) use this line. I'm still waiting to finish some of my products for pimples, but my next purchase is going to the Mario Badescu Drying lotion. I am so excited to try! :)

Have you tried Mario Badescu? What's your favorite?
If not, what's the product you want to try from this famous skincare line?

It's Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day everyone!!

I usually am sullen during this day. I don't like spending Mother's Day since it makes me nostalgic with the memories of spending it with my mom. I still hurt, I don't think it will ever go away, but I try hard to not put a damper to this special occasion as I consider myself a doting mother to all my pups and is quite eager to celebrate it, too.

And like VMV, I do think we do deserve to glow on this special day... These gift ideas would definitely make her feel oh-so special.

Makes me wish that mom is here to enjoy shopping and some R and R  for Mother's Day...

Don't miss out on opportunities to spend time with your mom. Because there's nothing like having a fab day with the one who unconditionally loves you.

If mom was here, I'm sure it's going to be an early morning to hear mass. Followed by breakfast at Deli France waiting for the mall to open. Mom loves to check out Bayo or Kamiseta to shop and then go and get an anti-aging facial. I'd probably be at Natonial Bookstore or Watsons checking out cosmetics. The day would end with me giving her my gift and a late lunch. She'd be a bit eager to go home to not miss her Sunday gossip TV show. Then, she'd prepare a wonderful TV dinner for both of us and just relax for the rest of the night....

I miss you, mommy. I still miss you so much... Happy Mother's Day and I hope that where ever you are, you still get to watch The Buzz. I love you!

P.S. I still need you...

I was pretty much easy to please when it comes to my body soap. But I got to admit that most of the time, my body is left feeling dry and scaly after bathing. I know many women prefer Dove as their facial soap as it provides a clean feel while giving the much needed moisture. As for me, I use Dove as an all around beauty bar. You see, despite the fact that I have a very oily face, my body skin function oppositely. It can get really dry especially during colder season like now.

When Dove Philippines asked us to share our experience with Dove Beauty Bar and how moisturizing is an integral part of caring for our body, I really didn't know how to go about it. Every beauty magazine, show and even all beauty commercials have ingrained that moisturizing is important. Do my voice count if I say that as well?

Happy Sunday Everybodylicious!! :)

Oh! The End of July is here. And I would just like to share that it is also Harry Potter's birthday as well. It's also my guy best friend's birthday. Happy Birthday to all of you who celebrate their birthday on the last day of July!

I would have had another post for you this Sunday, but I came home so late from a night of bonding with fellow beauty blogger friends - Sophie, Jheng, Nikki, Tara, Jaimie and Phoebe. We spent the whole evening talking about guess what? Not anything that is beauty related! Hard to imagine but that's the truth. We did comment on each other's lippie, flawless makeup application, had the battle of who has the oiliest face via oil blotting sheet (Winner here!) and also commented and complimented on each other's clothes and accessories. But beauty took a step back and we were like Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda for a night. Guess who I am between the four. :)

So, here I am taking this time (it's 4:06 AM now), doing this weekend rewind instead. Besides, you might have missed a post from yours truly.

Before my Bohol trip, I decided to finally try out Belo Medical Clinic and schedule a facial. As always, procedures with top clinics like Belo is best done with an appointment, so I went ahead a few days to schedule my visit.

I went to the Belo Medical Clinic at their branch in The Atrium of Megamall. It's the most convenient branch for me as its nearer my place. When I get a facial, I would like to go straight home immediately and not deal with too much traffic.

I consulted with their uber good looking dermatologist, my friend was right, everyone in Belo are good-looking! No kidding! My guy dermatologist had flawless skin and he's fairer than I am. I felt inferior, I tell you. But on  to business and I told him that my oiliness is back and I hate it with a vengeance. I want something that can get rid of it. Stat.

When he recommended Belo Botanicals Cleansing Facial, I was a bit apprehensive since I am not into all natural when it comes to my facials. Nope! Like I said in various previous posts, I love the science of aesthetics and cosmetics. If you're just going to slap some herbs and what ever natural ingredients you got there, I might as well do it as the comfort of my own home. I can easily get those home remedies online. When i go to a facial clinic, I go for science and chemicals that will make be look brand-spanking new! Enough said. My good-looking dermatologist informed me that it is a natural type of facials but it also has AHA to revive my skin and other things that will target  the needs of my oily face.

Botanical Cleansing Facial is best for those like me who have combination skin, oily on the T-zone, while calm and dry on other parts of the face. But to address more on the oiliness, he also added an Ice Mask which reduces the oil production. Ice mask I heard was a popular choice for many Belo clients.

Also, he recommended that I acquire a regimen that combats the oiliness and the re-surfacing of acne. Will show you that in another post.

My facial was pretty much no-nonsense, which is a good thing. I was ushered into a room that looked very much like a treatment area but a little bit more posh. There, I was asked to lie down and the facial started. Eveything that was used on me smelled really nice.

The Botanical Cleansing Facial consisted of cleansing the face, aromatheraphy, scrubbing with the Botanical facial scrub and extraction of whiteheads and blackheads. There was the usual steam, vacuum and laser. Like I said, pretty straight to the point and it was done in less than an hour. I particularly like the facial crub and massage. My attendant was very skilled and she knew when it hurts when she was extracting my icky whiteheads and blackheads. Needless to say, I loved every bit of it. Yes, even with the extracting part.

And I'm just very happy that all those icky whiteheads and blackheads are now a thing of the past!

The Ice Mask was a nice ending and comforted my skin after extraction. And it did feel like my face was against a nice cool ice. I'm all positive vibes at this point because I really need my face to behave! it's oily as hell! Ice Mask was the best ending to my Botanicals Cleansing Facials.

The mask getting me all teary-eyed. My advise? Keep your eyes closed at this point. Lol!

This is me after facial. It looks as if, nothing happened. :) My face isn't too red and it feels good.

A day later in Bohol :)

I'd definitely recommend this facial as maintenance when you've already treated your acne and hardly experiencing any. It's a very simple facial and I don't think this is one for you if you're skin is at its worst moment. For me, it was just right. The oiliness tamed down a bit but not during really hot humid times. But over all, my faced looked  cleansed and clear after my Botanical Cleansing Facial.

I would consider getting the Botanical Cleansing Facial again in between getting treatments for when I have acne. Being inside Belo Clinic makes me feel like a million dollars. They are very adept at taking care of their clients and provide them the best in service. The clinic at Megamall was designed where in the waiting area is located at the middle of the clinic, away from prying and gawking from passerby. They ask if you like refreshment and everyone is just so courteous.

My attendant/facialist is especially attentive and she was able to answer all the questions I had for her about other treatments. She seem to be aware as well those treatments that I would be interested it. Most of all, I felt very comfortable during the whole procedure and I almost didn't feel any pain - except in the nose part, that is. I love how speedy the facial is and yet I know my face was thoroughly cleansed.

When getting a facial I suggest you do the following:

1. Facials are treatments, ensure that your hands are clean before you begin since your face are raw and open after your facial, just in case you need to touch your face.
2. Put your phone in silent mode to avoid disturbances while your getting you facial. After all, this is a nice time to rest.
3. Try not to touch your face after the treatment and don't apply makeup (unless this is allowed).
4. Avoid populated and polluted areas after facial to avoid contaminating your face.
5. NEVER wash your face after facials. Wait at least 4 to 6 hours before doing so.
6. Always follow advise of your facialist if she has after your facial.
7. Never rush your facialist.
8. Always express when experiencing pain, burning or whatever that bothers you at the course of your treatment.
9. Inform the clinic of all your allergies and previous treatments that caused any undue reactions on your face, as well as diseases and such.
10. Enjoy, relax and welcome a much cleanse face!

If you're interested getting this facial, you may visit www.belomed.com or call 819.BELO and set an appointment with the nearest clinic near you.

It was a proud moment for the Philippine beauty blogging sphere last December 16, 2010 when Phoebe Ann Ramos of Phoebeann.me, Jane Kingsu-Cheng of mystylekit.com, Earth Rullan of Earlinggorgeous.com and Hannah Villasis of Flaircandy.com walked alongside Philippine's popular beauty Icons Patty Laurel, Isabel Roces, Georgia Schulze-del Rosario and Solenn Heusaff as Neutrogena's Fine Fairness Ambassadresses. All these eight women were glowing as they walked the catwalk of Beauty by SM at SM Makati! The power of Neutrogena's Fine Fairness at its best!

I've been wanting to try House of Obagi since I first heard of it opening in Greenbelt 5. But when I was given a gift card and a chance to visit House of Obagi, I didn't deny myself anymore.

My skin was sort of breaking out at that time for no apparent reason but to piss me off. I've got this huge zit on my chin that it was a hell to look at. The doctor recommended Acne Cure Therapy, a treatment that I want to try since I think that many Filipinas share the same condition as I do. I also got the Glycolic Peel that is a good partner for Acne Cure Therapy. I also had my pimples injected with steroids to help it flatten much faster.

House of Obagi only has two rooms so appointments are a must. I had mine booked days in advance. You'll be asked to lie down as usual and you'll be fitted with your head band and towels. You'll do nothing from then on. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the treatment.. Of course, I want to enjoy the treatment! I was in House of Obagi!! :)

The treatment lasts a lot longer compared to those I've tried in other clinics. Cleansing methods was really strict and all the products used are Obagi! Your face is in skin care product Heaven! What I notice is how cool the products was whenever it was applied on me. I asked if if it's because of temperature but it isn't, my faciaist told me. Some are really cool but some just adapted the room's temp.

The Cleansing

My face was scrubbed first with a good-smelling scrub. Next was gentle massage with a cleanser and then another massage. This happened for about 20 minutes. Then my face was steamed for preparation of pricking. The pricking was very tolerable. My facialist's hand was really soft and light that I hardly felt any pain at all. I have low pain threshold so this part is really tough on me. But I was glad that I didn't suffer all that much. Also, sicne I've had years of experience of getting facials, I know when my face was not thoroughly cleansed (in pricking) and even with the facialist's light hands, I felt that she got a good amount of whiteheads and blackheads.

No Ouchie... much

Pricking is an important part of facial for me. I use a lot of makeup and often cleansing is not enough to remove them, no matter how hard I try. Since I have large pores, this is doubly hard for me. So, I really make sure that whenever I get a facial, there's pricking involve. To remove the excess dirt and to prevent my pimples from coming out. I know many are apprehensive and more so scared to try it, I'm not really going to force you... But for me, facial with pricking is the best facial to prevent my pimples. :)

Ewww...

House of Obagi really didn't disappoint on that regard. It's one of the best facials I've tried in a really long time. From the products used to prep my face, to how it was steamed and then, pricked.

Finishing up

Two of my most favorite part of the Acne Cure Therapy is the laser and mask. Call me weird, but I love of the scent that the laser gives off! LOL! It's one of the most anticipated part of the therapy foe me. The Glytone mask aids in speeding up the healing process and to aid skin renewal. If there's just one reason for me to get this facial again, I'd say its the mask! It's like a treatment in itself! I felt my skin reacting from it and it's reacting in a good way. It only last 5 to 10 minutes, too!

Hands down, this is by far the best treatment for Acne that I've tried. You really are paying for the quality of the treatment.

-o-

The Glycolic Peel

Since I know it'll be awhile the next time I go back for a facial, I decided to get the Glycolic Peel for the face. Peeling is such an addiction for me and I'm not to let a chance pass for me to try House of Obagi's Peeling treatments.

A doctor will facilitate this procedure (as it should be!), she first prepped my face, then applied the glycolic solution and asked me to give notice if the solution is intolerable. A neutralizer will be applied after letting the glycolic solution sit for a minute or two. After that, you're done!

Glycolic Peel is really recommended for those who wants to reduce the dark spots from their skin post-acne treatments. Peeling in Glycolic is not too visible to the naked eye. You'll hardly even feel your skin peeling as days past. The only downside is that the solution feels a bit sting-y on the face. Like ants moving around your face. It could get uncomfortable but not too much that you can't tolerate it.

Glycolic is one of my most favorite peeling procedures because you'll really feel the effects after two to three days. Even now, weeks after my procedure, my skin is still very smooth. :)

Post-procedure: Obagi ZO Oclipse

After getting my KI for my pimples, my facialist applied Obagi ZO Skin Health Oclipse Sunscreen and Primer SPF 30. It's a tinted mineral sunscreen that just made me look decent for walking out of the clinic. My eyes did look sleepy but the redness from the injection and pricking was hardly noticeable. (see above pictures)

With previous facials, my face would be uber red that I'd have to go home immediately after treatment for fear that I'd scare many people with my red bleeding face. I even had dinner and coffee with friends after my facial. :) Oclipse acted as a makeup but with healing and protection benefits. No wonder Phoebe and Sophie liked it so much!

The Result

I'm a happy lady walking out of House of Obagi. But best of all, my face felt fabulous for weeks that I wasn't even wearing face makeup when I go out. I was able to just go out with a cheek stain, mascara and gloss. :) Evidence?

Me sans Makeup! :)

Now, I'm incorporating the Clenziderm set in my Anti-aging skin care products to prevent pimples from breaking out. I'll post review that soon. :)

A visit in House of Obagi may be a bit more expensive than our usual facials but if you really want the best for your skin and something that will really work, then I'm telling you now that you will get your money's worth in House of Obagi. And quite honestly, you'd save a lot more in the long run because your skin will definitely improve. :)

House of Obagi is located at Greenbelt 5, beside Beabi.
