2013 Review of Life Experiences | A Q & A

The past few days was a whirlwind. Every month is different for preggy ol' me. :) Prepping for Christmas, cleaning up the house and what nots. Today, the first day of the year, I'm looking back to all that has happened the past year 2013. :)

So taking my cue from my dear friend, Tara. Here I am taking on her annual tradition of answering her intriguing yearender questionnaire. :) Hop you'll enjoy reading them! :) Some of them

1. What did you do in 2013 that you'd never done before? I had a lot of first this year! :)

One of which is getting pregnant!

But one conscious decision I decided to do for the first time is visit another country alone. It was one of the most liberating experience ever. Walking along the streets of Hong Kong, not minding anyone and just taking in the sight and enjoying myself. It was the best gift and I think capped of my independent living.

I've always been independent but having to be alone in foreign country has that humbling effect. Here in our country, being independent is a luxury. And you never really feel alone when your loved ones are a call or short drive away. But when you're somewhere you're not familiar with, you really learn to rely on yourself. To know your limits and put up with it until you can summon the courage to go on. To enjoy the little and big things happening with yourself. It's enjoying your own company and being at peace with it. It allowed me to think that being alone isn't so bad after all. :)

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I never make any new year's resolutions as I'm always afraid to take a stand to not break them. I know I'll be too weak to resist. This year, however, I plan to make a shortlist of things that must change now that I am taking a new role of a mom and as a wife. To let go of the things that I must to accommodate new responsibilities.

3. Did anyone close to you die?

I am grateful that this year, God has spared all my loved ones. Thank you so much, Lord!

4. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Yes, and during that time.. I felt that I was becoming ready to become a mom myself. :) Who would have thought I closed 2013 as a pregnant woman! :)

5. What would you like to have in 2014 that you lacked in 2013?

Conviction. I need to stick up for a lot of things the past year but I chose to bend instead of taking a chance to stand up to it. With this new role of becoming a mother, I need to be stronger...

6.What date from 2013 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

Three dates:

February 14, 2013 - Perfection is relative and people can make mistakes. I have learned the art of forgiveness and reliquishing anger to God.

September 15, 2013 - Learned the art of humility.

October 1, 2013 - I witnessed a miracle... I became pregnant.

7. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

This year was more of a lot of blessings happening in my life. I hope to reach my goals next year. :)

8. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Breathing has become a problem lately. Hopefully with

9. What was the best thing you bought?

Experiences. Summoning the courage to travel abroad is the best thing I did this year. :)

10. Whose behavior merited celebration?

My future husband. He's become the doting hubby I only read in those sappy romance novel. :) I consider myself lucky in that regard.

My father, he has spoiled me like when I was a child this year.

Friends who have shared so much of their lives with me.

11. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

As a social media manager for the past year and a half, I have witnessed that people can show off rudeness online, even when we have the time to check what we type online.

A friend who chose to lie to me and our friends instead of providing me with the truth. It's painful to know that someone you've known for so long, shared so much with, can treat you like a stranger.

12. Where did most of your money go?

My home and bills.. and spending time with people I love. :) I always think I have no money not realizing that this home I live in is in my name and is a life investment. :)

13. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Becoming a mom, a wife and travelling alone for the first time. :)

14. What song will always remind you of 2013?

Please Don't Stop The Rain by James Morrison.

Happier or sadder? It was a rollercoaster ride but I ended the year definitely happier.
Richer or poorer? Poorer! Hahaha!

16. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Being patient. I was hasty with certain decisions.

17. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Less emotional. I was like a cat with shoestring when it came to some problems I've come across with.

18. How will you be spending Christmas?

Spent it at the place where my mom raised me, with the people most important in her life. Seeing my tita always grounds me. :)

Still the same, plain and simple. But with a lot of mint shade! Hahaha!

28.What kept you sane?

Prayers and blogging!

29. Which celebrity figure you fancy the most?

Still Robert Downey Jr. in Ironman!

30. Who was the best new person you met?

Ms. Angie, General Manager of BYS Cosmetics. A very intelligent, go getter woman. She reminded me so much of my mom but admittedly, she's slightly cooler. :)

31. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2013?

Forgiving and contentment. :)

We all have regrets but what's great about us is that we still choose to see the happy side of things. And that i think is what's important. Our shortcomings, the sadness, the disappointments, the pains, makes us the person who we are now. Let that person look forward to a brighter future in 2014, filled with new hope, love and understanding. This year will still surely be a mix of both good and bad, but remaining positive is what will help us do better! :)

Wishing everyone a prosperous new year!!
