Back to Basic with Clinique

It's been a month now since I started again with my Clinique 3-Step Program. I've been using it on and off for the past few months but the Ilocana in me is trying to limit my usage of it (i was trying to save it.. lol). As soon as my skin clears out, I will stop using Clinique and use local products. Then, I would just go back to it once I feel that bumps are starting to show up. :)

Well, now I know better. When I got a chance to consult with a Clinique expert, Baby of Rustan's Makati, she explained to me in detail on how good Clinique 3-step program is in removing dirt, sebum and other irritants but still keep the skin clear, supple and healthy.

It was a conscious decision for me to only use Clinique and only Clinique since that time.

The things is, we always thought that good skin are because of our genes or what we call "minana" from our parents or ancestors. Well, I don't have that. Both my parents were acne-ridden in their puberty. My dad had depressed scars from pimples and my mom was still getting breakouts even at her forties. Imagine if I have to rely on good genes to achieve a flawless complexion. Hopeless, right?

With Clinique though, their philosophy is that Good Skin can be Created. With only a simple 3-step routine, you can really achieve a cleaner and more beautiful skin.

With the 3-Step Skin Care System, I don't spend too much time with my day and night beauty rituals. I have more time to prep up in the morning and during the night, I get to turn in early. I'm really lazy and as much as I can, I don't want to put anything on my face before bed but this Clinique skin care system is so easy, the steps doesn't seem too much of an effort. :) If I could recommend this to anyone, its for the girls who's just starting out in their skin care routine.

I simply love it takes away the dirt and grime of the day. I could really feel my skin breathe with these products.

clinique bar soap

Facial Bar Soap (oily)

It's a psychological thing in me that my facial soap should be in bar form that's why I opted for this one one instead. I love the minty fresh feeling that this soap gives me. My skin feels cleaner after washing. Even when I wash with still my mineral makeup foundation on, I notice how it effectively removes it. But one thing I realize though that the Liquid Soap and the Bar Soap have no difference at all when it comes to removing surface dirt and grime. The Liquid works just as well as the Bar Soap.

clinique clarifying lotion 3

Clarifying Lotion 3 (combination/oily)

The Clarifying Lotion 3 is one of the mildest exfoliators that I've tried in my time of testing all kinds of toner and clarifying lotion. My skin feels tight but not so dry. With a few swipes, I could see the remnants of dirt that the soap has disintegrated. This is really a wonder products. Not so surpring that the Clarifying Lotion is one of the best sellers of Clinique Skin Care products. I've been using this for months now and as you can see, it's still nearly full.

Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel (combination/oily)
I got this as GWP when I bought the Clarifying Lotion and Facial Soap

As a skin protector from the harsh irritants that tends to go into our skin, the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel is one moisturizer that touches this oily skin. I've sworn off moisturizer before but this one has benefits beyond reckoning. I love the scent and how it easily glides on to my skin. It is also easily absorbs that I'm not afraid to look like a frying pan when I go out.

after shower

As you can see, there is really a major difference. There are still a few bumps and a lot of skin pigmentation here and there but it is otherwise more tolerable that before. My skin feels and looks a lot different now than before. And if you've been reading this blog for quite a while, I'm sure you'll agree with me on how my skin improved. Hopefully, it won't revert back to the way it was then.

Even then, Clinique have various types of skin care that can address any and all my future skin problems. From anti-aging to breakouts, Clinique have it. And it being allergy-tested, my skin will surely get the best care..

As early as pre-teen, those showing on set of break outs or even those who just wishes a cleaner feel and look to their skin, I definitely recommend Clinique.

They also have a mini set that one could try for a fraction of a cost.
Believe me, this will last you a long time. :)

Honestly, I was skeptical at first that the Clinique wouldwork for me. I thought to just settle with the skin care that I already have on hand. Good thing though that I got over that phase and finally tried the Clinique 3-step skin care system. Now, I'm reaping the benefits.

Another thing, I'm not that afraid to pile on those makeups because I know I have a Skin Care that are devoted to keeping my skin clean and soft.

Remember, it pays to have a consultation, don't just go off buying things that you may not need after all. What I love about Clinique is that they don't push their clients in buying. On both consultations, I wasn't bombarded with products to try. I was actually the one asking and asking if I need this and that and the consultant would explain the product and suggest if I need it. In the end, I end up buying one product when I initially thought, I'd be hoarding and make my credit card cry.

My idea of clear skin now is very basic, a clear skin is a clean skin. Simple, right?

much love,
Shen

It's great that you found something that works for you. I'm like you too in that I inherited bad skin from my parents. :[ Too bad acnetrex didn't work for you cause it has helped my skin (even if I still get mini breakouts).

  5. I've been using Clinique since I was a teenager and it's helped me a lot in maintaining healthy skin. I have relatively good skin for a midlifer (I will be 43 soon) and part of it is due to the care the 3step program provides my skin. It may be a big investment in one go but the set lasts long (I always buy the bigger sizes because they're more value for money) and I tend to buy in bulk during bonus time. Like you, I like the bar soap better than the liquid soap. :-)
