Yes, you read it right. I found a replacement for the famous, cult fave Urban Decay Primer Potion.

Bobbi Brown definitely changed my opinion with creamy shadows. Before you couldn't make me buy anything that is within the vicinity of creamy products for the eyes. Most that I've tried in the past creased on me big time and I just end up tossing them to the bin or they are now currently gathering dust and taking space in my room.

Skeptic at first, I went ahead and tried it. I was swayed by the fact that it's from Bobbi Brown (the brand I love so much!) and of course, by numerous international beauty blog's raving reviews online. Knowing how oily my lids can get, I was excited to give it a go. And guess what? It worked.

Brand putting the term "long wear" on their collection can get totally misleading given that our skin reacts differently with a lot of products. I'm just glad that when Bobbi Brown puts a label on her collection, she always delivers and cuts down on the BS of advertising and marketing. She's always encouraging and never pushing. I don't know how she does it but she's always right on the money IMHO.

The Long Wear Cream Shadow in Shore is as it says. It stays on without creasing for at least 12 hours (air conditioned environment and minimal exposure to humidity and outdoors). The texture is creamy and smooth that applying it on my lids is easy. It also doesn't dry out fast so I get to blend my pressed or powder shadows. What's great is that it adds vibrancy to the shadows. More so that it comes in different shades that allows you to pair them with your makeup look. When you want to cover the bases, this is a great makeup base to use.

Oh! I haven't tried using this alone but I guess it works just as great, too. :)

I can't believe it myself. Cream shadow that works for oily lids. No creasing at all. Well, it's true. Take my word for it. This is the real deal and this why this baby is on my Best of 2012!

Just goes to show we don't always have to look far for great products. :) Yay for no more frustration when UDPP rans out. Here's to my favorite eye primer, Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow in Shore.

Yet another fave!

What's that one thing you should never forget to do before heading out? Well, that goes without saying... cover them baggies, ladies! The only bag that you should have in your person is your purse. Not on your face. :)

Your boss don't need to know you had a banging party last night or that you stayed up late watching the Downtown Abbey reruns. Or in my case... blogging! #busted

And for nearly a year now, Kuma Concealer Type 2's been helping me fake it. I am in love with this product. How do I know? Anytime I lose sight of this tube, I go on rage or rearranging my vanity just to find it. Put it in plain sight. Heck, I would sometimes go out of the house with just this on!

In makeup, eyes in the part that you get to play with a lot and still be able to take on your day to day activity. That's why it should be at it's spanking best. Kuma concealer is not only makeup. It' also contains skin care properties that lessens puffiness and dark circles.

The girls of Glambox sent me their latest product, the Glambox Mink Lash. Made from 100% Mink Fur and is 100% hand made. Now it's possible for every Pinay to get that naturally looking "enhanced" lashes without the commitment.

I for one love love to have longer and fuller lashes. I want to look like those girls in the 1950's with their lashes totally darkened like love!! Sometimes I wish I'm Hindu just to have their eyelashes.

Mink lashes that were once custom-made for exclusive celebrities like Oprah and Madonna are now available for every Filipina to experience!

Soft, lightweight, velvety, flexible and natural-looking, every GlamBox Mink Lash gives you the look and feel of luscious celebrity lashes.

GlamBox Mink Lashes are made from individually selected mink furs that have been harvested by gently brushing live farm animals. (We are very animal friendly!) They are not chemically treated or dyed to ensure the velvet appearance that can only be found in mink fur.

GlamBox Mink Lashes are 100% real mink fur and are 100% handmade. They are sterilized and are hypo-allergenic.

Below you'll find my FOTD using the Glambox Mink Lashes. This is softest lashes I've put on in the longest time I've used false lashes. Honestly, I find it trying and tiring to use them. I would even admit that I found this one hard to put on. Yes, I know.. for someone who wears makeup everyday, how come I still didn't get the knack for putting on falsies?

But that's all changed now. I found a way to apply falsies without a bit of a trouble. Now I jut stretch my lids much similar to when I would apply my gel liner and position my lashes slowly onto my upper lashline.

want to know more about the Glambox Mink Lash, go to their multply website Glambox.multiply.com.

much love,
Shen

Did you know that eye liners are the most difficult thing for me to do when doing my makeup? Honestly, i find it easier to apply false eyelashes than lining my eyes. I always make extra effort when do this task because 1) I have shaky hands and 2) I have shaky hands.

Fortunately though that I found out about gel liners. I first got introduced to this mid way to my makeup addiction in 2008. My first was MAC Fluidline. It was amazing. With MAC's 266 brush, lining my eyes became a much sought after habit for me. Since then I hardly go out without a gel liner to accencuate my eyes.

Unfortunately though, the price of MAC Fluidline does not always fit in my budget and after i emptied the pot, i was loathe to get another because of the price.

Last year, I made a stunning discovery when I visited my all-time favorite makeup brand, maybelline. There I saw the Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel liner. I immediately picked up one. This time though, in brown. Even prior to the wonderful reviews I've read on this product, I didn't think twice in getting it. The best thing about this is that, each gel liner comes with an liner brush. For Php399, it certainly was a great deal. Don't you think so?

Happy Independence Day to all my American friends and family!!!

Happy Monday to all my fellow Filipinos!

It's makeup time in Shen's Addiction!

Don't you ever wonder why those girls in Japanese and Korean magazines always look so fabulous? Their makeup always looks so flawless and they have a certain way of making their Asian eyes pop. One of the reason is because of their white eye liner. It accentuate their eyes and made it look more open and wide awake. Which is quite something that most of us ladies do not know. Well, now we do.

It took me quite a while to get this kind of technique. I was first looking for a flesh-tone eye liner but its so difficult to look for one here in the Philippines. Great thing that I was able to get my hands on MAC Fascinating Eye Khol when it was brought here.

Lips:
NYX Round Lipstick in Fig

I miss doing smokey silvery eyes. I wish I could do this everyday. lol!

Mini Reviews:

I love Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Pencils since it stays on the longest on me compared to other liners I've tried (except for Revlon Colorstay though). But UD 24/7 liners had wide array of colors. Also it comes free with every book of Shadows So I have a lot of back up of it. :)

NYX Round lipstick as always stays true to its reputation, affordable and pigmented. Too bad staying power is not so great. But since all lipstick don't stay long on my lips, it doesn't bother me one bit! I love that on second application or on retouch, I don't need to use a lip brush. :)

Clinique Superfit Foundation is the matte-st foundation EVER!!! Nuff said, no matter how small the bottle is, you need to get it!

Til next post!

The title doesn't sound good, right?

Summer is here.. and for the most of us, summer is a time for late night outs. Parties and clubbing, baby!! But late night outs usually mean baggy and dark under eyes. Hate those... don't you? Well, so do I! Let me share you my favorite products in eliminating those problems.

For summer, I've giving you 4 of my favorite eye creams that says bye-bye to those unsightly eye problems.

1. Shu Uemura Red:Juvenus Vitalizing Line-reducing Eye Essence.

The patented Phyto-Red Energy Complex of Amalaki + Pomegranate + Lycopene Capsule 2X helps diminish the first signs of aging. That's definitely for us early 20's to late 30's ladies. Why wait when we're 40's to start using anti-aging cream, right? For me, Red: Juvenus takes only about a week use for me to notice the difference. Although it didn't lighten my eyes as much as I would have wanted but the lines have disappeared sufficiently when used day and night religiously. Although people with severe oily skin condition may find this a bit too moisturizing on the skin. But that isn't always a bad news. Start fighting those aging signs with one of Shu's best skin care line.

Available at Shu Uemura counters located at Rustan's Department Store Makati and Shangri-la and Shu Uemura Store at Powerplant Mall.

2. Goodskin Lab's Tri-Aktiline (Php2,600)

This is a miracle in a tube. Not only does it reduce my lines overtime. It works as a primer that instantly fills in my lines for a smoother look. Swiper can attest to the effectivity of this. I usually use this as a primer before I apply my sunblock and undereye concealer. See immediate results (like seconds of use) and notice how velvety smooth your skin is and the lines visibly reduce. Oh and it's for the whole face, too! Isn't that amazing? The amazing cocktail of patented ingredients helps resolve our line dilemmas.

What I love about this magical filler? It works well with my makeup! I can actually use a anti-aging product as a primer! I don't have to wait too long for the product to seep into my skin. I can use my sunscreen immediately prior to my using this product and ensure my sunscreen indeed protect me.

Available at all Beauty by SM.

3. Garnier Brightening Eye Roll-On (NOW ONLY Php 199!!)

Oh how do I love this product. It's sincerely affordable and hits all the eye problems instantly. A definite win for woman of all classes. There is no product like this one. The best thing about this product is its draining effects that mimics massage motion that helps reduce the puffiness immediately. I was bawling my eyes out one evening and had an event to attend to the next day. I simply couldn't wake up to a super puffy eyes. I immediately grabbed Garnier Brightening Eye Roll-On and poof! No more puffy eyes. Only heartbreak.. hahaha! Just kidding! :)

Available at all leading department stores, groceries, Watson's and Beauty by SM.

4. The Body Shop Nutriganics Smoothing Eye Cream (Php1,195)

Purist out there will definitely love this eye cream. The community trade ingredients of Babassu, Olive Oil, Alove Vera and Organic Sugar Cane that makes a great concoction of organic anti-aging product that all people will love. Especially, the ones who are truly going for a greener and chemical-free life. This is the lastest eye cream that I've been using and I already see good signs. The scent is amazing. It smelled like I just got out of the shower feel. Maybe its the aloe vera. I love that my under eyes looks a lot more supple and less harag looking when I don't get the required 8 hour sleep. Lines may take a bit more time to reduce but I feel this working in a matter of weeks.

Available at your favorite The Body Shop stores.

-oOo-

My mom was very picky with the products she used. She makes sure that despite the exuberant price tags, she gets what she's paying for. And even if she scrimp on other beauty products she ensures that it works. The products mentioned above are chosen with the same principles I know that many people are on a budget but would not sacrifice quality while some goes for the higher end products a reason of their own.

Nobody can say what's the best since our skin is mostly different from one another. But I do hope that you find here what you've been looking for and I was able to guide you in finding the right eye cream for you.

We, after all, wouldn't want those fine lines and dark under eyes stop us from enjoying this summer!

How, who's going to Boracay andd willing to take me? :) LOL!

much love,
Shen

P.S. Coming up soon.. Guys, you too won't have an excuse for those dark under eyes and fine lines! :)

I recently had my eyelash permed at Let's Face It(an aesthetic center here in the Philippines). I've had this procedure done quite a few times since college. For first timers, this procedure will be a little annoying since your eyes will be closed for nearly an hour (an mp3 player will be agreat help). I haven't had any trouble with the perm solution getting into my eyes. It doesn't hurt at all after the procedure. However, I must admit that during procedure, your lashes will get tugged quite a few times, but not so much that it will do permanent damage. No falling lashes as well.

The procedure consist of putting eye putty on your lids, placing a cylinder kind of sticker onto your eyelids. Slowly, your lashes will be pressed to the sticker to create the curl . It is during this procedure you feel your lashes being separated for a better and natural curled look. the perm solution will then be applied, your undereyes will be covered with tissue(to prevent the solution getting inside) and your whole eyes scotch tape. After 20 minutes or so, neutralizer solution will be applied and left for awhile. Lastly, the sticky roll will be taken out carefully and slowly. Viola, you now have permed curled lashes! This will last for about a month or two.

This cost me Php250.oo or about $5.00. I had it done during a routine facial. :) Quite the multitasker, I am. :)

Eyelash Perm: After one week. :)
(no makeup applied)

with mascara

BIG EYE! LOL!

smiling eyes. with Cover Girl LashBlast Mascara

I enjoy the fact that I don't have to curl my lashes everyday. I hate curling lashes since i can't get the hang of it. The trouble that i have with this one is that it made my lashes look a little shorter and that i have to be extra careful applying mascara so it won't touch my eyelids. :) but so far i'm soo loving it.

How about you? Have your tried eyelash perming? How was it?
How do you keep your eyelashes curled?

Eye Poxy Primer by CoastalScents

*Clearly by now you know i don't have a general criteria for my reviews. I just do my review as i go along. If some things are not provided here and you have further inquiries, just post your question at the comment box. Thank you.

Price: $10.95
Size: 10gr
S&H: varies
Available at Coastalscents.com

I can't stress enough how crazy I am about Primers for my eyes and face. They truly changed my makeup life. Primers are great and a must-have for oily skin like me. If there is a primer out there, I must try it!

Eye makeup application for me is like a labor of love. You put time and effort in applying it. Deciding the color combination are a task especially if you've been doing it everyday like i do. So when my eyemakeup creases on me, i get so frustrated. That is why i consider an eye primer a very important tool in achieving my mini work of art. And don't you just hate creasing?
Eye Poxy by Coastalscents have intrigued me for quite sometime so i jumped on the chance of buying one when my friend offered.

Here's what CS says about Eye-poxy,

Our Eye-Poxy™ Shadow Primer for eyes is applied in a thin layer across the lid, crease line and below the brow.

It is much creamier than our original primer allowing for ease of application. Your colors will adhere, blend together and also become more vibrant.

When using please only tap, tap your finger into the poxy, rub between 2 fingers to warm it, then apply. It is not necessary to remove it to get the results. If you choose to remove a small amount please rub between your fingers until smoothe then apply to the lid, this will allow your shadow to last until you are ready to remove it.

I live in the southern part of Florida, Hot, Humid, Sticky weather, I have oily skin also. My makeup remains in tact 12 to 15 hours (after that I remove it).

Net wt. 10 grams 2 x the amount sold for the same price or more by other makeup companies.

Ingredients:Dimethicone, Cyclomethicone, Triethylene Glycol,Boron Nitride, Beeswax, Cetyl Alcohol, Polysorbate 80, Silica, Candelilla Wax, Carnuba Wax, Mica, Magnesium Stearate, Vitamin E (Tocopherol)

Contains no parabens or chemicals, it is actually good for the skin.

The Product:

1. Contained in a clear jar with silver cap. Very cost-effective.
2. The Primer is color white,
3. When applied, it becomes clear with shimmer
4. Smells like a Clinique or Oil of Olay moisturizer my grandma use to apply on her face.

Kikay Pinay says:

There are a few things that makes a great eye primer for me.
1. Eye makeup last at least 6 to 8 hours.
2. Doesn't smell bad
3. Blending is easy
4. Budget friendly
5. Easy to use

So far, The Eye Poxy passed my 5 criterias. My eye makeup lasted for about 9 hours (or more if i didn't remove it). It doesn't smell bad at all. Blending is okay but i could definitely work on my application technique. It is easy on the pocket because it its only $11.95, beats the price of other primers out there. Easy to use since it is contained in a jar with all the product very much accessible. Although i have to remember that i have to close it tightly to prevent it from drying. I also notice a little goopiness when i apply it, but maybe that's just me.

Overall, i am loving this product with every use.

I do recommend this to those who are just learning to apply eyeshadows and toying around with bright colors and don't want to shell out too much for a primer.

The verdict: 4.5 out of 5 Kikay Pinay Points

This definitely gets a seal of my approval.

Hope this helps!!

much love,

P.S. aka Disclaimer: I am not getting paid for this review! :) lol!

I've been daring myself lately to take a chance on blue eye looks again. then i got to watch more of Lauren of youtube's Tutorials. She's one of my fave eye make up tutorials since she uses wide array of cosmetics. not just one brand make up, like myself. i was just inspired of her nautical ispired look. i used a different technique from her tutorial. Actually mine is much faster since i did this look at 130am. just wanted a rush blue look to see if it looks good on me. i hope it does.

Anyhoo, here's my Blue's Clues look. Why the name? well, i'm soo sleepy to think of a much chic-er name for my EOTN. and the colors reminds me of Blue's Clues anyway. hehe!

I used the blue eyeshadows i personally made via DIY mineral eyeshadows.

Sorry i put up so much photos here.. i didn't know which looked best so i uploaded them all.
