This season has got me so sentimental. It's probably because the holidays are coming and we are still here lock away in our homes. I was browsing my old external hard drives and I saw some old photos that brought me to this blog post back in the day. I miss my beauty blogging friends and how we talked about makeup and skincare science for days. This trip in particular was the brainchild of Neutrogena and was probably the very first event that taught me the importance of sunscreen and the extent of how bad UV exposure is. There is so much science that backed up their studies that ever since sunblock was ingrained into my routine.

And no wonder, Neutrogena is part of the Johnson&Johnson family who prides themselves at science buffs! We all know that J&J is one of the world's biggest healthcare companies and ae focused on helping each individual to be at their best and healthiest. ALL of their products are backed by SCIENCE and have the seal of approval from healthcare professionals and experts.

J&J's 130 years prove how much they love science and how they use science to give us the best that our skin and body need. J&J products formulations are one of the most trusted skincare there is. We did all grow up with the tear-free shampoo and until now I use their cologne for my daily use. Our skin for over a hundred years remains healthy because of their ground-breaking skin care technology that helps skin conditions like eczema, skin dryness, and acne. Perhaps that is the reason even after all these years they are standing firm and continuously innovating!

This Shopee Beauty Day beginning September 20 until 22, J&J will share their Skin Love Science exclusive deals. Up to 50% Off when you see these catchphrases!

Another great discovery last year was the brand, Yves Rocher. Their cosmetic line are amazing. But one that made the most impression is the the Pure System Pore Clearing Mask. It has a way of lessening my pimples like no other! It has salicylic acid coupled with aloe vera to soothe the skin.

I am in love with this mask. I do spot-treatment on my acne because it's that good. And best of all, it takes only 3 minutes and you can already wash them. Though I let it sit for about 10 to 15 minutes (which I know is bad since the mask is too strong and dries up the skin).

It's that quick solution whenever I get my period and along with it an army of pimples, cyctic ones. In just 3 to 4 days, those biatches are a goner! That's why this baby made it to the best of 2012! It works, it's cheap and it's amazing! :)

If you're looking for an effective mask to help with your acne, I can definitely vouch for this one. And it's affordable at under Php500. I think this is only Php475 and it lasts awhile!

How I use this:

  • Once a week or every two weeks, depending on how my skin is behaving.
  • Spot treatment in case there's a cystic acne that's abou to pop up.

You can get this at any Yves Rocher boutiques. :) Check out their Facebook page, they have all the branches there. :)

Although I'm not the type of person to go all organic. I love my salicylic, benzoyl and AHA to ever give up science-produced beauty products, there is really something about going all-organic. I remember how I first fell in love with Leyende, with their Face Canvas moisturizer. My mom even took my extra jar because she loved the scent and the effects of it.

They say that trials come and go and that we just have to hang on and believe that the next day will be better. I've been really negative for the past few weeks with work taking its tolls and a number of things adding to it... But remembering that tomorrow is another day... well, it helps me in keeping my sanity and at the least, hopeful that I do better.

That's why I appreciate all the things that come my way, no matter how little and especially when they're big and unexpected. Just recently, Beauty Box Corp. sent their latest acquisition to me. They gave me tons of goodies from land of the rising sun and quite possibly the chicest country in Asia, Japan!

One of which is the brand Fairydrops, which compared to K Palette is a bit loud and quirky. The Packaging alone makes you think of night life in Tokyo. Founded by Aya Yasuda, a Japanese Anchorwoman in MLB LA, have always wanted photogenic eyes and face.

I honestly can't imagine why because she's gorgeous. She reminds of those Korean actresses. But I guess like all women, we all try to improve our looks and along the way, find the best solution to address it. Aya Yasuda took it to her own hands and created her own line of makeup. Quite easy since her father was one of the top 10 business conglomerates of Japan.

One of those products under Fairydrops is the Candy Bar BB Cream which I got to try:

But before I talk about Candy Bar BB Cream, here's what Fairydrop's got to say about it:
What it is:
A BB Cream that makes skin look flawless even while on camera with 5 treatment essences
5 kinds of treatment essence to moisturize and for healthy glowing skin: Hydrolyzed Collagen, Squalane, Sodium Hyaluronate, Jojoba Seed Oil and Panthenol
This oil-free, waterproof and lightweight formula BB Cream has micro-gold pearls that hide scars and freckles, diffuses light to hidewrinkles and smoothens and softens skin
What else you need to know:
No SPF. SPF gives off a white cast when one is photographed
Doesn’t look flat on skin
Comes in two shades: Ochre and Light Ochre
How to use it:
Apply a small dab to your cheeks, forehead, and chin.
Spread with your fingertips or with applicator sponge
Apply loose powder to set it
Let sit for a few minutes if one wants to build up the coverage to avoid it from caking
What I love: (at least on makeup front and not on it doubling as skincare)

  • Light Ochre matches my skin tone! And you know how hard that is to say about BB Creams
  • The sponge applicator makes it easy for me to apply the cream
  • Provides light to medium coverage
  • Stays on for hours (despite oilies seeping through)
  • Dries into a semi-matte finish
  • Great at controlling the redness on my face
  • Can skip concealer if you don't have very dark blemishes or pigmentation.
  • Brighten skin easily
  • Come in a cute packaging (always a +, if not entirely important)
  • Photographs well (as you can see on the photos)

What I don't:

  • Like other BB Creams, oil control is still not it's best feature.
  • Can be quite expensive to some. This cost Php1550.
  • Shades are limited to fair to medium skintone.

If you're iffy about sponge applicator due to hygiene or that it wastes too much product, you can just twist the cap and use the nozzle.

Personally, my radar isn't really on a look out for BB Creams. Thanks to this blog that I get to try them and it seems you, my dear readers, are interested in BB Creams. So here I am trying it for you all and I'm glad to report that it's a great product to try. If money isn't an option and you think that (like me) makeup is worth every penny, then I can say that this one is. Especially is you're the type who loves Asian-made cosmetics like BB Cream.

BB Creams continuously take over the beauty industry and with every brand that comes out, we (or at least a big chunk of beauty lovers out there) clamor for the next one, especially when they have add-on features just like the Fairydrops Candy Bar BB Cream with it's sponge applicator and micro-gold pearls for better coverage.

Have you tried Fairydrops Candy Bar BB Cream? If not, I think this is worth putting on your wishlist this Christmas. :)

It's another work week ahead of us, ladies! Have you given your skin the care it needs for the stressful week?

The Tony Moly Tomatox Magic White Massage Pack has been with me for awhile. I remember when I was a kid that my mom would always bug me to drink a can of tomato juice every single day. It would be waiting for me after my breakfast and it tasted like metal. Now that I'm all grown up and learned how good tomatoes are for the skin, I pray that they keep stock again of those tomato juice because I just want to drink them now (minus the childhood tantrums) and just take in all its nutrients for a pinkish brighter skin.

When I saw the Tomatox Magic White Massage Pack, I was ecstatic because I wanted something that causes to detoxification and has lycopene properties in it. It was something that I was literally willing to dip my fingers into.

Containing Tomato extracted water and Tomato ingredients, this multi-functional massage and pack brings instant dual magic brightening and vitalizing and detoxifying effects into the skin.
Being  a multi-functional product of sot massage and clean wash off mask, Tomatoc magic white massage pack delivers highly vitalizing, truly clarifying, magic brightening,  skin hydrating and protecting effects to the skin, leaves the skin amazingly bright, clear and supple.

The formulation is very creamy and sort of reminds me of nose strip pack that I use to buy at The Face Shop and Watsons minus the ickiness. This one is rather creamy almost like a mousse and goes on softly on to my skin.

Instruction goes is to make sure to have a cleansed face prior to using and that means, wash and towel dry the face. With an ample amount of the product, I softly massage massage for a good 1 - 2 minutes (but I often extend it to 3 minutes since I get distracted when watching a show.). Then I leave it one for a 5 to 10 minutes and wash it off with tepid water.

Next photo is bit scary. :) lol!

boo! lol!

The thing though, it stung a bit when I had the mask on after massaging. It's as if the mask was activated when I massage it and let it settle on my face. It especially stung and kind of itch around the sides of the nose and on the jaw lines.

It's a good thing the stinging sensation dissipated after a minute or two. I was scared that I'd be dealing with redness when I remove the mask on.

As you can see, the bare face photo of mine above appear to look brighter and bit even. With prolong usage, you'll notice that there is brightness in the cheek area in a way that it is also pinkish. There is no visible red marks either from the minor irritation I felt. My face felt smoother espeacially if I exfoliated my face prior to this mask.

I try to use this twice a week but with the number of products that I'm currently testing... well, i'm not as religious as i ought to be. But by and by, I did like the feel of this wash off mask. I feel good that I get in some tomatoes even it's just topically for a brighter and blushed looking skin. And it's another way to get in vitamins and minerals on to my skin. :)

You'll definitely love the immediate effect of this brightening mask despite it fading out in a day or two. Especially if you're frequently out in the sun. Massaging the face allows better blood circulation that gives that pinkish effect while letting the mask sit, gives time for the ingredients to be absorbed by the skin.

In time, you'll surely achieve a whiter, more even-looking skintone.. bit to mention it being smooth and supple.

It takes a while for the product to finish as well since one tub contains 80g, expires in 12 months after opening. And who wouldn't love the cute packaging? The BF thought it was a desk ornament where you store pins etc.! LOL!

Tony Moly Tomatox Magic White Massage Pack is available at Tony Moly Store at SM Megamall, Building A (Former Etude Houde location, acroos Toy Kingdom).

Hi Everyone!

I'm vlogging again! I wanted to share with you my recent haul at Laura Mercier, it's their Flawless Face Kit. Here, I talked about the products, the tools and how I to use it. It's really a good buy.

Please bear with how amateur this vlogging is. I was just tooo excited!! :) lol. I edited wuite a few things. I find that I need to make a script in the future vlogs as I'm more, well, coherent, in writing that I am in speaking. Needless to say that I don't think I speak english that well. So please be nice and don't criticize so much. I will improve, promise! :)

You'll also find below after the video clip, a more precise but short review of my review of the products that I was not able to express on the video. Either way, I hope it will help out those who also wants to purchase the Laura Mercier Flawless Face Kit.

Enough chatter, won't prolong the agony. Here's the video. :) (scared!)

Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20 (Sand)

Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20
I thought that I wouldn't like the tinted moisturizer, given my propensity for anything matte. Boy oh boy was I wrong. When they say that the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer, they weren't kidding. Even with my oily skin type, I was able to fall deeply in love with this. But yes, it doesn't really last as long and my oilies started showing up an hour or two after application. But it was like velvet upon velvet on my skin. Oh love! Indeed it was love to have it. Like a soft cashmere against my skin.

Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20

Foundation Primer

Foundation Primer
That is why I find this primer a bit helpful with keeping my makeup stay in place. But of course, with an oily face as mine (my face is really really really hella oily), this primer was still help enough to keep everything in place. It smells like a floral which I think I would need getting use to but nonetheless, a great addition to this kit.

 Undercover Pot - 3

Undercover Post - 3

The first time I've seen this, I was just giddy like a child since I'm one to love anything that has dual purpose, much more that this had three! There's the secret camouflage for the blemishes, the secret concealer for undereye and a setting powder! It was like winning the lotto! And it does conceal well. The left part is more for blemishes but I use for the undereye as its lighter. The right part I also use for that part but I mix both and then then spread it even on to the reddish parts of my face like corners of the nose and lips. But lazy me, doesn't do this often. I just use the lighter part fo my undereyes and I'm quite good to go.

Camouflage Powder Brush

Camouflage Powder Brush
Laura Mercier creates fabulous brushes as we all know. I especially would like to own their blush brush and slanted kabuki brush. Isn't that just the most glorious thing ever? Been hoping that other brush brands that are more affordable re-creates it because this girl can't afford the real deal yet. The Camouflage Powder is unbelievably soft when i applied the setting powder on to my under eye and it sets it real well. This is really good brush to have. But this can be seen as a good investment for makeup artist and those who are really into collection quality made brushes. For those who are still apprehensive, yes, this isn't something that you need to purchase immediately to complete your kit as your regular eyeshadow brush, powder brush or even velour puff can attain the effects Camouflage Powder Brush.

Secret Camouflage

Secret Camouflage Brush

I just love using the Secret Camouflage Brush! Super! If you watched the video, you'll see how I used this brush with the secret camouflage concealer to reduce the appearance of my dark under eyes. This is surely going in the most frequently used brush pile for sure. I usually rely on my ring finger to properly blend my under eye concealer, but with this one, I'm sure to lessen that and would only need to blend the edges and would not get to touch my under eye area too much.

Below are more pictures of this phenomenal synthetic brush.

Powder/Velour Puff and Oval Sponge

The powder/velour puff and sponge, I see more as a bonus. Although using a powder puff is also a good thing as I've founf out in practice as it sets the loose powder well. Although I find that I still am more comfortable using a powder brush or in the video, a stippling.

-o-

The sponge I appreciate but not this type of sponge since I've yet to use it. Laura Mercier, base from what I heard, makes nice sponges that really blend well. By and by, I use makeup sponges, the wedge ones from the Beauty Bar, and I really like the flawless finish even when it eats too much products.

All in all, this purchase was surely a good one. I appreciate the handiness of the products and how I can easily tuck it away in my vanity kit for when I travel. Laura Mercier have proven to be a good brand for cosmetic purchases and it doesn't disappoint in quality. I'm quite attached with the Tinted Moisturizer and the Undercover Pot. The brush seals the deal for me as well.

I recommend this set for those that loves a clean, perfect skin. With the tinted moisturizer and concealers, you'll surely have a flawless face that is really for any sort of makeup look that you want. And the Php2,450 that you'll pay for it? You won't even notice with how fabulous this kit is.

Laura Mercier is available at Rustan's Makati and Shangri-la.

I was having a bad morning yesterday. My allergy was acting up and I literally woke up sneezing and my eyes watering like crazy. My throat felt dry from the wheezing and my nose red. What a day to spend the post-Valentine day. R felt so bad for me and gave me song allergy med. Finally come noon, it subsided and I needed to get ready work. Had to salvage the rest of the day and also get ready for a meeting. Good thing I had new dresses to choose from. :)

It's Holiday today, will be dining out at Pier 1 tonight with Law School Buddies.. :) But before that just want to share

I initially went to Rustan's Shangri-la to buy a concealer for my dark undereyes I've been sporting since for nearly 3 weeks now and for my pimple marks. I'm not surprised that I went out with more than that. I'm such an impulsive-buyer (bad bad.. very bad Shen). Oh well...

THE HAUL:

Here's the concealer I got: an NW25 for the under eye and an NC35 for my blemishes.
(sorry I used it before even taking a pic of it)
Kikay Pinay points: 3.5 out of 5

Matched my skin really well and easy to blend. I wonder why I didn't replace my empty pots before... Oh yeah, it's hella expensive. P870 for one pot...

As for the brush, I used my Concealer Brush from the Charm Pro Travel Set. This Brush Set is in my bag 24/7.

Studio Fix Fluid in NC35 (I got darker but its a-ok!)
Kikay Pinay Points: 3.5 out of 5

I finally got myself a Studio Fix Fluid (yey!) I opted for this one since its ways cheaper than the MUFE HD liquid foundation (Santa, this is on my list!). I used my Duo Fribre Brush Charm Pro Travel Brush Set to try this foundation out and its blends so effortlessly.

Something Adorable...

Adorable Carmine: 4 Face Brushes
(Php3800)

I couldn't stop caressing this baby.. lol!

ahluveet!!!

Kikay Pinay Points: 3.5 out of 5

-oOo-

an accidental purchase...

After my daydream purchase at MAC I decided to eat at the last resto me and my mom ate in, Secret Recipe. I ordered their Garden Salad (YumYum!) and Cordon Bleu (bleh!). While waiting I noticed that my MAC SE187 had a chip just above the logo and number. After eating, I headed for the Rustan's Department Store to have it replaced..(thanks Lani for being so accomodating!) It was quite a bad idea becuase I saw the Shu Uemura counter, I got attracted to the latest collection and then to their ever famous Cleansing Oils. o, I ended up witht this one.

Dream on the skin... great for problematic skin like mine.
Kikay Pinay Points: 3.5 out 5 points

But I think I'm allergic. When I use it and let it sit on my skin, I end up with red marks on my blemish spots overnight (gone in the morning though). Do you think that its reacting with my Duac Gel Antibiotic Ointment? Hmmm...

I'll be getting the Pink one soon when I've got extra moolah (this bottle cost me P2200 already)... or not, if Santa notices it on my list.. :)

I remembered before when me and mom visited Manila (we were residing in the province then) and Shu just opened their first counter here in Manila... I desperately wanted their face powder. My mom was so shocked to learn that it caused about Php1500 then. She said that it was too much for a makeup. That I had to earn the money to buy it. Besides, I was just in highschool and barely needed makeup. I got so mad at her for not understanding me. It was only later when I started earning my own money that I realized what she meant.

And yes, the depressed goes shopping...

much love,

More hauls to come...
