My Colon Cleanse Experience at Centro Holistico, The Grove

I never realized how important my visit to Centro Holistico was till I got there and spoke with their reisdent doctor - Yes, CH is a clinic with real doctors! -- I told her all of my health concerns and how I want to learn how Centro Holistico can help me with it. She asked me pertinent questions that led to a possible reason why I'm suffering right now with a chronic disease.

Pregnancy is such a beautiful thing, a blessing really. But we can't take away the fact that it takes a toll on the body of the mother. My two pregnancies have resulted to Gestational Hypertension. With Claud, I even has Gestational Diabetes. My doctor said that it's so important for a mother to replenish all the energy and to intentional repair the body from the stress that it has encountered while creating a life and post-partum. Because we all know it doesn't end at giving birth. We breastfeed, we nourish and we care for our babies 24/7.

Given how the Quarantine for the past few months took not only a stressful toll but made my body less active, my choice to do a Colon Cleanse was one of the best steps. It's so important to start "empty" and get rid of my body of toxins or excess waste. I've tried coffee enema before and have enjoyed the benefit of it.

I came in weighing at 130 lbs and left 128 lbs. losing at least 2 pounds of solid waste!

I wanted to do to cleanse because I knew how awful my eating habits were and I just really wanted to get rid of what I can get rid of it an instant. But that's not all the benefit of a Colon Cleanse -- or in this case, coffee enema. As per Centro Holistico:

Coffee enemas have been shown to stimulate the liver to produce the enzyme Glutathione s-transferase by 600-700%. Glutathione is an antioxidant that reduces cellular damage caused by oxygen free radicals.

Enemas have been around for centuries dating back to the Ancient Egpyt. It is also administered to clean out the colon for screening and other procedures. So it's been around the block for quite a while and has now been known to use for holistic wellnss and has been noted to be a safe procedure to get.

Now on to my Colon cleanse experience!

The room at Centro Holistico is amazing. They have a special bed that allows you to lie down comfortably as the attendant gently starts the procedure for you. The room is spacious, smells amazing and you don't have to worry about the cleanliness because the place is spotless and sanitized and disinfected after each procedure. Centro has a feel of a spa, so you'll definitely get into the zen vibe the moment you're inside.

The procedure was fairly straight to the point. A catheter will be inserted into the rectal area and about 3 gallons of diluted coffee and turmeric solution will slowly flow to your colon. You will definitely feel it, a discomfort that is similar (and actually is) to doing number 2! The highlight of this procedure is to hold it in as long as you can and release it when you can't anymore and REPEAT. Our plumbing is similar to regular plumbing, what goes in must go out, and along with it will be other things that refused to be relieved in the normal way.

It is important to massage your abdomen, especially on the lower left side to continuously release the solution. The whole thing only took about 30-40 minutes but longer for others. After which I was treated to ginger tea and hot compress for my tummy.

I'm trying to be as descriptive as I can without grossing you, guys, out. But all in all, the benefits far outweigh the necessary first part of this cleanse. The best thing is it isn't yucky or dirty. Everything goes down to the bowl and you don't have to deal with the output! Actually, I felt cleaner afterward.

We think of this experience as taboo and I get it but the colon is such an integral part of our body. It's what takes out what you know you enjoyed but at the back of your head, you know your body doesn't need. So deal with it we must, right? We say that ramen noodles, boba pearls are hard to digest and so wehere do they go? Do they all get to the morning after? Some of them get stuck and we don't know for how long. That's why I think this procedure is a must for me.

I think of Colon Cleanse as KonMari of the body and I'm glad I got to do it in a safe space at Centro Holistico. I know how important being comfortable doing this and the team they've got truly puts you at ease. My attendant was very knowledgeable, highly observant of the hygiene protocols, and very professional.

Here are some of the other benefits of a Colon Cleanse

  1. Helps with liver detoxification
  2. Amp up the energy in the body - you'll feel energizes
  3. Reduces the bloating
  4. Helps greatly with constipation
  5. Promotes clearer skin
  6. Helps prevent incontinence

I haven't done a lot of enemas to say that it has been life-changing. But based on my last two experiences, I can say I'm just happy I got to take out what is not supposed to be in my body. That's good enough for me. And given how important is it to stay healthy, not only to stave off the COVID-19 virus but just to prevent having to go to the hospital at this point in our lives - or any point, really, is enough for me to do this again and commit to a healthier lifestyle.

As a mother of two whose body has severely deteriorated in the past 6 years, this is one of the mindful steps that I am making to get my body back to a healthier state. It's not an overnight cure and I know I have a long way to go. But I'm glad that Centro Holistico wants to be a part of that journey with me.

If you want to try Colon Cleanse, here are some of the things you need to take note of:

  • You can Colon Cleanse even when you're menstruating. This doesn't affect it but actually helps especially if you are experiencing constipation.
  • Hydrate before a colon cleanse. Overall, the body needs proper hydration so take note to load on water before getting this procedure.
  • Do No. 2 before going in for an enema. This is so to just clear the rear part of the rectal area for the tube and it's much comfortable this way.
  • It will help a lot if you choose a more fibrous kind of diet prior to your procedure. Not totally required but during my first cleanse, this was truly beneficial and I did the same for this session.
  • The tubing could dislodge and this is okay. The attendant will re-insert it back. Do not worry.
  • Kegel technique comes in handy in "keeping it in".
  • Just be as comfortable as you can be and appreciate the process of the whole thing.
  • Relax especially at the end part. Your colon will thank you for it.

I've tried two more treatments CH and will share more of that with you soon! So stay tuned if you want to know about their Acupuncture therapy and IV Nurtirent Therapy services.

And as always, before trying out any procedure I recommend with Centro Holistico first at any of their branches. They can personalize the treatment based on what your body needs.
