How to: Wearable Blue Eye Shadow Makeup Look

I know that many of you have a light blue eyeshadow lying somewhere but hardly knows what to do with it. Many of you even cringe on the thought of using it for fear that you'd end up looking like a sales lady  on her first day of training.

But fear no more. Here's a neat trick on how to make blue eye shadow totally wearable!

I've learned this trick from Stonehill, he's one of the resident makeup artist of the The Body Shop. He taught me that blue eyeshadow is very much wearable when paired with a brown eyeshadow. It made sense most especially when he tried it on me using The Body Shop products.

Using brown eye shadow to contour your lids blend well against our skin and it gives the blue a nice gradation that makes it look more natural. Make sure to apply the blue eye shadow not further than the lids. Don't raise it to your brow bone.

Simple right? All you need is a brown eyeshadow 2 or 3 shades darker than your skin tone, blend well with a crease blending brush.

You can opt to highlight your brow for the evenings but I suggest to omit this for day makeup.

Tips:

  • Prime your lids to prevent eyeshadows from creasing. A lasting concealer can work if you don't have an eyeshadow primer.
  • Shimmery eyeshadows are easier to work with for when blending but thy cause more fall out. Try to catch them by applying a layer of powder under your eyes for easy cleaning.
  • You don't need an uber flawless skin to rock this look. You can make that with good products.
  • Keep the rest of the look natural to make look really wearable.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to achieve this look.

This look makes the blue eye shadow a nice surprise whenever you blink. This look is very much easy to do for everyday makeup look and it simply mimics how you do your neutral makeup application.

  1. OMG Shen! I cracked up at the sales lady reference, because it's sooooo true! Hahaha!
Anyway, thanks for sharing this. I must admit, I stay away from the blues that I own because I can't seem to come up with a look for it. I always felt like Blue Moon whenever I attempt to wear 'em. LOL!
