DIY Foot Spa Made Easy | Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi Review

I’ve always been a fan of DIY ever since I was young. I remember my mom mixing up facial masks in the kitchen, buying DIY spa kits from beauty stores and we would spend our Sundays with masks on our faces and wraps around our heads. She loves saving money, you see. As much as she loves spending it on a good massage at Manila’s top spa, nothing makes her so happy than getting her hair deep conditioned at home while watching her favorite talk show. And I inherited that trait… Not the saving money part, I’m pretty much waldas as most of you know! LOL! But I do like getting pampered at home while I enjoy watching my shows or listening to music playlist on Deezer. Besides, with the awful traffic, going home from the spa requires another spa visit!

And lately, I have included gadgets in creating a more spa-like experience at the comfort of my own home. I have a sonic face brush to help with exfoliation and a LED light wand to help boost collagen production of my skin. Great results with less effort. My mom would be proud, too, because it costs me less than a trip to my favorite spa.

DIY foot spa though is not my favorite because the scrubbing part of the process proves to be strenuous that getting into a zen-state is hopeless. Well, that’s a thing of the past now because I just discovered Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi. A worthy addition to my growing gadgets at home! I’m so excited with this new tool!

Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi (Php1,685.00) is an electronic foot file that can be safely used at home on your own. It is deemed safer to use this gadget than using abrasive foot file or cutters as it provides more precision and control. Definitely less tiring, too! According Scholl, this is their promise once you start using their Velvet Smooth Express Pedi:

  • Beautiful, smooth skin after 1 use
  • Specially-designed Micralumina roller head for effective yet gentle removal of hard skin
Allow me first to introduce Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi.

  • It’s about 5 inches tall and it’s shaped like a Y. It has a handle (the blue portion of the gadget) and it’s made with a strong rubber material that helps for better grip. Sweaty hands? No need to worry! This one won’t fly off your hands.
  • The silver part is the on/off switch that you just toggle. (|) for ON and (O) for OFF. I find this part ingenious since it gives the gadget a more fluid look.
  • The white part is the one that holds the Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi Micralumina roller head. There is blue eject button on the side that makes it a breeze to replace the roller heads. No struggle for this mama!
  • The bottom part is the cap that holds the 4 2A batteries. Yes, battery is included! My advice though is to remove batteries after use to avoid corrosion of the batteries in your gadget. This goes for all your gadgets at home.

  • It comes with a clear cap that protects your things from the micro-abrasive particles of the roller head.
  • It also comes with a Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi Micralumina roller head to get you started with your DIY foot spa at home.

Don’t be fooled by the look of Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi. It actually feels very sturdy and strong. Not like those you see on group-buying sites or your local “tiangge”. It feels very luxe in my hands like I’m using a piece of technology found only in exclusive spas or health clubs. If you have ever held a Clarisonic, you’ll know what I’m talking about but with a better grip.

On to how to use this nifty little electronic pedi tool:

  1. Make sure your feet especially the soles are clean and dry! Yes, you can’t use this on wet areas! Don’t even think of considering it! It’s not water-proof, too.
  2. Sit comfortably where you can easily reach your soles. I find sitting on my toilet seat bowl is okay. But I prefer to do it out in my balcony so the dry skin that’s filed doesn’t settle in any of my furniture at home. The gadget hums quite strongly so try to do this when no one is asleep.
  3. Relax and turn on your Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi.
  4. File/Buff away til the dry areas are smooth to touch.
  5. When you’re done, use a warm wet cloth to clean and wipe away dry skin dusts.
  6. Moisturize using your favorite lotion or foot cream.

To be frank, this tool did remind me of a wood buffer. I could literally see the dry skin dust flying off from my Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi, proof that this gadget works and that the Micralumina roller head really buffs away dry hard skin just like that. No need for elbow grease, thank GOD! I just place the gadget on to the part that needs to be buffed and whoosh! Dry skin, buh-bye! And it took me about a minute or two to do each sole. It’s that quick!

Results are definitely and visibly smoother, softer soles with just one use! Yey! A safety feature, too, that I appreciate is that the Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi instantly stops once the pressure becomes too strong. So if you become overzealous in buffing away that dry skin, you can’t hurt yourself. Who would have thought that it’s so easy to file away all those hard dry skin on our feet? Wouldn’t have believed it if I didn’t try it myself!

Now, who’s ready to bare beautiful softer feet? :)
