The Makeup Look: Party in Rio!

Yet again, another bright makeup look from yours truly! Yes, I am a bit more adventurous now. You'll see a lot more of this in the future (i dare hope).

It's funny how we often think that we have a lot of time to do the things we want... then we just realize that we've already out of time. Well, I'm not about to let that happen. So even amidst chores and tasks, I went ahead and did this bright look using mainly greens and yellows, inspired by a dress I wore during my recent trip to Bohol. It's a very tropical look that reminds me of beach festivities and nature.

Imagine the surprise looks of the guy that delivers our drinking water and the one that picks up our laundry when they saw this look on me! Hahahaha!

I've also missed using green eyeshadows which I realize I have in abundance with the palettes that I own. I concentrated again in using matte eye shadows from my 42 and 120 eye shadow palettes. Although the texture is a bit powdery, I was happy about the pigmentation. Who wouldn't be and the with the price i paid for, barely Php2000! Seriously, it was a jackpot!

To re-create this look:
  • Apply a good primer all over your eye lids to avoid the eye shadow from creasing.
  • Apply an eyeshadow base to make the eyeshadow appear more vibrant. Blend this using a concealer brush to even it out all over your eyelids.
Now on to eyeshadows:
  • With a dark green eyeshadow, trace where you want to create your crease and slowly blend outward to  reduce harsh line, I use my MAC 214 brush as it allows me to pick up more pigments and create a precision line
  • Using a flat but dense eye shadow brush, pat a mid-tone green e/s on to the mid lid.
  • Darken crease and create a V crease with a dark blue e/s on the outer corner of your eyes
  • With a stiff e/s brush, use your brightest and truest yellow e/s on your palette and apply it liberally on to your inner lid and blend it inward.
  • To give dimension and bring in the yellow e/s on your lower lash line
  • Trace the blue e/s on the 1/2 part of your outer lower lash line.
  • Highlight browbone with a satin yellow e/s and blend the harshline from the drak green e/s.
  • To avoid the looking punched, line your eyes with your favorite eye or gel liner.
  • Apply your most intense false lashes to accentuate your eyes and the e/s's you used.

This Rio-inspired look is just making me dream of festivities and nature. I got to watch Rio (the cartoon movie) and I just wish that I could visit Rio de Jeinero someday. Or at least visit some of my country's famous festivals and colorful parades. This look was also inspired by the lush greens and sunny weather that welcomed us in Bohol a few weeks back. And of course my summer boho chic dress. :)

Here's a closer look of my eyes:

just look at those spikey falsies

I stuck with using coral on my lips although I was thinking of doing a more bolder look with a really orange lipstick that I've seen in my 66 piece Lip color palette. But then when I saw how nice the lippie pulled together, I knew it was time for to take photos of it.. over and over and over again. lol.

I hope I get to wear this out in public but I don't think it's a good idea at all. They'd probably think I'm a drag queen. Not that it's not a compliment because I love drag queens and their makeup artistry abilities. :) I wonder when there will be ever a time that being adventurous in makeup gets the same respect as being au naturelle. I just don't get it, really. When Van Gogh and Monet gets recognition with eccentricities of their art but when you play with colors on your eyes, you get shunned by sticklers and purists. Really hateful, right?

Good thing though that I am not alone in this. there are many of us that loves art in cosmetics and we are going stronger day by day. :) Soon, we will conquer you all! Bwahahaha!

Just kidding! So, do you feel like being adventurous? Share your looks with me! :)
