Reader Questions Answered (better late than never!)

From Aizza Carmela

Q: hi shen... may i ask kung napapalitan ba ng bulb yung vanitybasics laighted mirror mo?

A: Yes, you just need to unscrew the upper portion of the mirror. Well, I'm leaving it to the BF or Dad to replace it if ever. They are more adepth as that sort of thing that I am.

But if you want a more affordable vanity lamp try Suesh or just buy those clip-on lamps at ACE Hardware. Will show you mine soon!!

Q: sis, alam mo ba kung merong essie's matte about you sa Philippines? :) and if ever where?:) thanks

A: Unfortunately, I am not as knowledgable as other bloggers like Nikki, DigitalTraincase and Fab Ur Nails, when it comes to nail polishes so i really can't answer this questions. But I highly advise you to ask them instead.

I do know that Essie is distributed in Rustan's, do try to call them and ask for the shade you are looking for. :)

Q: hi shen want to ask about Linden Suites, i noticed that you stayed the room for more than 5 paxs. are they strict on no of paxs pag pasok ng hotel? i am planning to book a room when im back in PI but we're 10. do you think it's okay. thanks shen

A: The suite my cousin got is good for 6 people for the night stay. But visitors can stay until 12 midnight. :) I'm sure you can get around that as long as you keep it quiet. I love the staff of Linden Suites, they are very accommodating and easy to deal with. But we also tried not to cause too much trouble though. :)

Q: hi Ms. Shen, what's a good inexpensive foundation to use? im on a tight budget since im still a college student. i'm currently trying the Maybelline Clear Smooth mineral liquid foundation and the Clear Smooth aqua foundation. im not sure if my face is really oily xxx, especially the forehead or it's the foundation. i thinking of buying the clear smooth press powder to keep the shine down. should i or gt a different foundation instead? thank you very much! :)

A: Hi Maria, I would suggest that you buy a pressed powder and an oil blotting powder to reduce the oil buildup on your forehead. Do you set your liquid foundation with a setting powder or a pressed powder? Mineral liquid foundation are not ideally suited for those with oily skin but this can be resolved by dabbing powder on the oily area. Sine you are in a budget and in college, I wouldn't consider it wise to change liquid foundation if you have one that you use but must only tweek a little.

Liquid foundation, I found, is an important investment and those that I've tried that comes in an affordable price doesn't compare with expensive ones. Maybe, if you finish up the Maybelline Clear Smooth Mineral Liquid Foundation (which is good and very affordable) and have some extra moolah over the holidays you can shell out for a quality liquid foundation like my favorite Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation and my favorite cream foundation Shu Uemura Nobara Cream foundation. Those I tell you are the best and totally worth a few missed lunch and dinners for me. :)

A: I went to Basement Academy and took their Basic Makeup Artistry Course under Cheryl Cabanos. I enjoyed my classes tremendously and was blessed to have a very intelligent and knowledgable teacher. :)
