Are you a soap person? If you are then you should try Mir & Ryvi Organic Bath Soaps. I've had these babies since last year and I didn't realize that I haven't blogged about them when I love them so much that I used up these products they sent last year in succesion.

There's nothing like using a bath soap that can double as a facial soap as well depending on your skin care concerns. And honestly, you can only get that from an organic or naturally made product. Case in point, Mir and Ryvi. A brand that wants to bring affordable products with the highest quality in skin care. The name alone was enough for me to get interested. Mir and Ryvi means peace and river which to me feels like they are one and goes with the flow of nature. Nice, right?

Going back to basics is something not many brands can easily pull off but Mir and Ryvi have done flawlessly by sourcing their products with care and dedication. Although I am not an all-organics girl, I appreciate the effort of a brand to bring us back to nature. Especially now that we're saturated with brands who brings scientific innovations at a daily basis.

What's great is that the people of Mir and Ryvi tries to give us options to target a specific skin care concern.

Mir and Ryvi Papaya Soap Skin Lightening Beauty Bar

Their Papaya Soap helps lighten the skin and reduces dullness with carefully chosen and sourced ingredients from here and abroad much like your typical whitening papaya soap from mass-produced brands. Sans the chemicals associated with it.

The're the Papaya enzyme, which you all know is a lightening agent but also an effective exfoliator. There is also Mulberry extract proven to help inhibit tyrosinase in our skin that cause melanin production. Combined with Vitamin B3, another lightening ingredient and the almost-always-present Vitamin E, this soap is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to skin lightening.

Personally, I like the feel and scent of the soap. Lightening might take a while with this compared to your regular papaya soap but it does the job in maintaining my fair skin as well as keeping it clean and soft.

Mir and Ryvi Tomato Soap Acne-Cleansing Bar

Tomato Soap is definitely a sensitive and acne-prone person's dream. Tomatoes are naturally good, it contains lycopene to help add glow to the skin and it's a also a natural anti-septic. It also an anti-oxidant to slow down skin aging. I down a glass of tomato juice when ever I can and my body can feel the change. So does the effects of this soap. My skin is very much problematic and I prefer to use this soap for my face. But on occasion I suffer from bacne, this is a must-use.

Mir and Ryvi's tomato soap contains ECOCERT anti-acne ingredients that helps improve the skin's texture as well as help heel acne. Like most natural products, patience is the key when seeing the results as our skin adjusts slowly from converting to a more simpler product. Add to that this also contains Vitamin B3, you are not only helping your skin heal from acne but also help slowly lighten the scars associated with pimples.

Mir and Ryvi Banana Soap Spot Lightening Beauty Bar

The Banana Soap is a must especially now that I'm nearing my 30's and I still deal with dark spots. The perfect blend of lightening and anti-aging, thanks to the banana (organic at that) that contains high levels of Vitamin A, B, C. I noticed that my dark spots, caused both by acne and sun exposure slowly lightened.

Coupled with Acerola, Cupuacu Butter along with more Vitamin A and E, this Banana Soap can help with reviving the skin's youthful feel. Personally, I'm not even after the anti-aging, the mere fact that this soap is extremely moisturizing, my face and body thanks me every time I use it given how soft and supple it feels after use. I even get to skip my lotion after bathing. Although it's not advisable for those with extremely dry skin.

This is an ideal gift for banana lovers as well as moms, aunts and anyone who is anti-aging enthusiast.

The bar in itself has one of the best integrity out of all the organic soaps I've tried. Honest enough to say that they use a minute amount of preservatives to help prevent molds and decay, Mir and Ryvi still manage to keep their bath soaps safe for use for anyone at any age.

It lathers well, too. Not the same as your regular soap, especially for their banana variant, but I do feel clean and moisturized after using it. Having managed to create 3 variants that tackles the most common skin issues, the brand has certainly made a mark in the community. Add to that Mir and Ryvi is proudly homegrown. And it's distributed by Beauty Bar, a store widely known for offering the best in cosmetics and skin care.

If you are in the organic path, Mir and Ryvi is definitely one of the brands that you should look up.

Today was a hectic day. I had an early client meeting with a real estate company and then I had to rush to an event and talk shop with one of the brand heads. #careermodeon

But I was sure glad to have spent an hour chatting with some of my favorite beauty and fashion editors. I always get to learn a lot of things from them. :)

Then, I had to rush a few reports (my fault) and a proposal my client was requesting. And come end of business, I received a client call and had to entertain it with my colleague. But that's all in a day's work.  I may have anticipated the moment i stepped out of work but I was happy for a fruitful day that I taught me a lot of things.

What happened in between, was what's making me smile....

What motivates me right now is the trailer of The Butler , a true story based on the life of Eugene Allen. He's an African-American Butler of the White House for 8 US Presidents. I read the article on Washington Post on whicch the movie was based on last night and I was in tears after. It's amazing what humility can teach a man. I do wish though that Lee Daniel keep the movie balanced and not too dark. I can't wait to see Oprah and Robin Williams on the big-screen again. Oprahs acting based on the trailer seemed so natural.

I can't wait to see this film.
The reason why I anticipated the end of working hours was the fact that I was to visit

This has got to be my favorite makeup look Taking inspiration from the women of the 50's, gals in that decade made it look so easy to look so poised and put together! The moment I perfected the use of a gel liner, one of the makeup looks that I practiced doing was the pin-up look. Winged liner with crimson lips and well-defined cheek bones. It is quite similar to the look we have here... which in my opinion is the best makeup look for all types of women.

It's is all about definition. Playing with light, highlighting and contouring. It's making your best feature pop and let it stand out but reducing the insecurities you have. The look has an "alive" feel to it. Like you're all made up and ready to conquer anything.

What's great with this look is that it's wearable to any type of occasion. I've worn this at work, when i attended a wedding and even just having coffee with friends. This look does not discriminate that's why I love it. It doesn't choose clothes. You can practically wear anything with it.

Best of all, you don't have to spend so much on makeup or collect too many to achieve this look. All you need is a serviceable everyday neutral makeup palette that has beige, brown and black and you can recreate this eye makeup look. Add gel liner, eye pencil and mascara and you're well on your way to looking fab. So incredibly easy!

My advise is to buy products that are long-wearing and can withstand our humid weather and any type of activities. So far, I found them all in Bobbi Brown' Long-Wear collection but I'm sure you can scout other products all your favorite mall. :)

I did a thorough step by step  how to above that I hope can help you. With practice, this look can be done in 5 to 10 minutes. I've been doing this look for a long time, I can do this in the car (not driving of course) and in bathrooms with minimal lighting. I'm sure you can do this look well, if not better than me! :)

Just remember to enjoy and don't think about what others will say when you're sporting a new look. Carry yourself with confidence and surround yourself with people who love and appreciate you!

Happy Monday!!

Was it just 2 years ago when I discovered Close-Up White Now? And until now it's my favorite toothpaste of them all. Why? It's practically a makeup, that's why!

Same way a yellow concealer cancels out the purplish dark under eyes or a green concealer lessens the redness of a cystic angry pimple, Close Up White Now with its Blue Foam technology , cancels out the yellowish tint on our teeth. A problem I've been dying to solve ever since! Sorry, I'm a smoker and I do love sodas! Can't help it so my teeth punish me (or is it the other way around?) and I'm now slave to tinted teeth. Eww! I didn't know either that taking Tetracycline for acne causes irreparable yellowing of the teeth. Tsk! My poor set of chumps. :(

Good thing I didn't let go of my twice a day habit of brushing my teeth with Close-Up White Now. My teeth look so much better than it did years ago. Stronger, too! It's an instant trick that all of us can do without spending so much. And did I tell you that the toothpaste itself whitens teeth gradually same as other toothpaste. Paying 2 for the price of 1! Yey!

Speaking of quick fixes and beauty dilemmas, watch out for Bianca Gonzalez' on Close-Up Youtube on June 21. Subscribe to their Youtube channel now, http://www.youtube.com/CloseupPhilippines. For more details, visit their website at www.closeupphilippines.com.

Close-Up White Now is available at your favorite grocery and department stores nationwide.

Just before the rain started to make an appearance, I made a farewell look for spring with my favorite BYS Palette. It rivals my Urban Decay Book of Shadow in pigmentation and color selection. Can you believe that this 32 piece eye shadow palette costs less than Php700? Yup, it's that affordable.

The look is fairly easy to do. To recreate this look, you only need to do the following:

  1. Prime the eyes with a champagne eye shadow base (Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin) to avoid creasing enhance the color of the eye shadows.
  2. With a flat paddle eye shadow brush, slowly pat the a bright green eye shadow (BYS Colour Perfectionist Palette, Php675) onto the lids until the crease area.
  3. Define the crease and darken the outer V of the upper lid with a dark green shadow (BYS Colour Perfectionist Palette, Php675) with a blending brush. Wing the shade out to elongate the eyes.
  4. Brighten up the eyes with vibrant cobalt blue shadow (BYS Colour Perfectionist Palette, Php675)  and pat them on the outer upper lids. Bring it down to the lower lashline, apply sparingly.
  5. Give your look an extra kick and instead of black gel liner, use a bright blue gel liner (Laura Mercier Cobalt Gel Liner, Php895). Wing it a little for a whimsy feel.
  6. Line the waterline with an equaly bright blue liner (BYS Auto Eyeliner with Sumdger, Php195)
  7. Complete the look and go crazy with a mascara (K Palette 1 Day Lash Perm Volume and Curl Mascara, 1,200)

Pinks go so well with a bright eye makeup look. I went for NYX HD blush in Apricot and NARS Gloss in Angelika to pair with it. A good decision if I say so myself. :) If you're face is looking bloated, don't forget to contour.

Taking inspiration from the iconic cotton white shirt, Lacoste recently launched Eau De Lacoste Pour Femme in the Philippines. This fragrance is a soft blend of pure and pristine notes that are very appropriate for our weather. A veritable comfort in a bottle.

Think Casual Sundays. Coffee with friends or midday mimosas. It's zesty, feminine and incredibly alluring.

Eau de Lacoste Pour Femme opens with white pineapple, mandarin and bergamot. Followed by orange flower, sambac jasmine and pineapple flower that makes this scent so aptly femme. It mellows down with the sensual notes of sandalwood and vanilla along wiith the elegance of vetyver and balsam.

It's both alluring, sexy and pure all at the same time. A scent that could transcends from day to night. It smell amazing from beginning to end.

The bottle alone reminds me of the soft texture of Lacoste's white polo shirt. The gradation from white to clear glas adds a feminine touch. If you're a collector, then I'm sure you'll love the quiet elegance of the Eau de Lacoste Pour Femme EDT.

I love this. Like I mentioned in most of my perfume reviews, I love anything that has a zest in it and Eau de Lacoste Pour Femme gives exactly that. In our harsh humid weather, there's nothing like spraying on a fragrance that refreshes you and reminds you of cottony soft fabrics. This is definitely a treat I give to myself every time I step outside.

Available at Rustan's Department Store and other leading department stores nationwide.

Charmed is exactly what I was the first time I took a whiff of the new fresh scent of Fan di Fendi, Eau Fraiche. A light, floral, citrus scent that reminds me of laces and frolics. A fragrance that I don't mind wearing not only in Summer but all through out the year.

What got me? The light citrus blend of Bergamot from Calabria and Lemon from Italy upon spritzing! It was a burst of zest seemingly like an exclamation of joy! You can't deny the smile that teases your lips! I didn't! I'm in love with citrus flavors! A definite welcome to this hot humid weather. Then there's an element of spice--just a tinge--brought on by Cardamom from Guatemala. A lovely surprise that unfolds immediately.

At the heart of it's heart is a sigh of Sencha Green Tea. Refreshing, cleansing that blends oh so effortlessly with Orange flower and Sembac Jasmine. Like burrowing your nose in a field of soft white petals. Le sigh!

As it subtly settles, you're left in a seductive embrace of Mate Absolute, Cedarwood from Texas and the ever so elegant musk.

Fan di Fendi Eau Fraiche could stand on it own amongst Fendi's row of fragrance. I wouldn't be surprised if women like me, one who live in tropical countries will enjoy light refreshing scent, would prefer this instead. As the scent is reminiscent of summer.. I was surprise on how well it wears during the evenings, too. The base adds a strong character to the fragrance that made me feel unconsciously elegant.

Fendi again has made it's mark with the new Fan di Fendi Eau Fraiche. The iconic Fendi Forever buckle in light verdant shows the breezy take on the Eau Fraiche, I'm so in love with it! I can't wait what they come up with next!

Fan di Fendi Eau Fraiche is now available in stores. Get yours at all SM Departments Stores and other selected mall nationwide.

I do miss those days that I can go to a facialist almost every other week. I'm one of those who akin good skin to monthly facial visits and derma care. Just before my haywire schedule, I had decent time to spare for a bi-weekly facial. My skin experienced less acne, it's less oily and a lot smoother. But time is what I don't have now so I have to resort to a more potent, more effective ways of caring for my skin. A facial that I can do on a monthly basis and still get good results.

That's why when I had a chance to try Flawless Cell Booster Infusion Mask, I grabbed the chance. This could be the one I've been waiting for. So, I made sure to sneak in an hour in my busy sched to visit Flawless at Megamall and take time for me-time.

I've been frequenting Flawless even before I started blogging and they always provide good and courteous service. And seeing as how they keep on improving and adding the latest in skin care technology only shows that there is no stopping this beauty empire.

The latest of which is what I got to try a week ago, the new Cell Booster Infusion Mask. A mask recommended for my dull and tired skin. I have acne-prone skin that has major discolorations from my beach trips, hints of fine lines and wrinkles here and there. If you're into preventive measures and in your late 20's, this just might be the best for you.

Cell Booster Infusion Mask is a new technology that makes use of the Cell Booster skin care line. Packed and infused in the hydro-gel mask are highly concentrated essence cell-activating nutrients that do two main things: a) combat and protect skin from free radicals and, b) to rejuvenate skin through cellular level.

Use in conjunctive with their recently launched Cell Booster skin care line, Flawless is quite aware with how much we want to turn back time to maintain our youthful appearance. That only means that this mask helps the skin from within. Nature and science combined, we now have an option to prevent early signs of aging or at the very least maintain our youthful look.

I usually don’t go for anti-aging masks as most of them don't usually match the needs of my pimply, oily skin. But not with the Cell Booster Infusion Mask. Even women like me who experience adult acne can prevent aging, too. The mask isn’t too thick to clog the pores but moisturizing enough that you’ll feel difference. Glad to say there were no aftermath breakouts from this mask compared to some other anti-aging masks I've used in the past.

The mask experience alone was phenomenal. I haven't enjoyed a facial mask as much as this one. It's incredibly cold when applied, a welcome relief from all the pricking (I have low pain threshold). Then there's the easily absorbed serum that doesn't leave an icky sticky feel once your facialist removes it. You'll feel as if a weight has been lifted off of your face after getting Cell Booster Infusion Mask facial.. like your skin can breathe again.

You can try Cell Booster Infusion Mask with any of your favorite Flawless advance facial service; you just have to upgrade your mask to this one. I had the Acne Control Advance Facial then upgraded to the Cell Booster mask. My bill was only Php1,400, a reasonable price for a stem cell mask + facial. If you don't suffer from cystic acne during this facial, included here is a wonderful facial massage designed to help with blood circulation.

Immediate results can be seen. You'll notice that your skin looks fuller, more supple. My face looked fresher despite the pricking and I didn't feel so bad walking around the mall after.

The next day, my active pimples subsided. Partner this with their Cell Booster skin care set and a good night sleep and I won't be surprise if you see major improvements on your skin.

Cell Booster Infusion Mask Facial (Php1,400)
45 to 60 minutes (including 20 minutes mask time)
Available at Flawless (Powered by Skin Professionals)

As always, I suggest that you take time to talk to Flawless' available derma to see if Cell Booster Infusion Mask is right for your skin. :)

Am I the only one who got excited with when CC Creams started to hit the stores? I know most people were skeptical, some even commented snidely on how overrated it was! When I discovered CC Cream, I immediately wanted one. That's why when Clinique sent me a sample of their new CC Cream, I was over the moon. In comes this month, Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream!

Now why am so eager to try CC Creams? I just think that it fits our skin type. Controls oil better than a BB Cream, has more coverage than a tinted moisturizer and safer to use on a regular basis than it is a foundation. CC also stands for several things like color corrector or complexion corrector. And that's one of the reason why I prefer this over the more popular BB Cream.

Unlike others who have used CC Creams, I had high hopes with this one, almost too giddy when I first tried it and guess what... it was good!

It's not a miracle worker that all your skin problems will disappear. Definitely not. Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream is not full coverage so expect a few struggles if you have cystic throbbing-red acne. But it will definitely cover up redness, dark spots and brighten up your face almost immediately. All this despite it's sheer consistency. I know, it's amazing!

If you problems with skin discoloration like rosacea, freckles or troublesome redness on the sides of the nose and cheeks, this could just do the trick to even out your skin tone. It's very light-weight so it doesn't weigh down the skin as much. And since I'm a big fan of Clinique Moisture Surge, I get the same benefits and feel more securely with my skin. I do after all have dry patches on my skin, too. I love that this leaves the skin looking naturally beautiful when ever I apply it.

Oil control is still not the same as a regular foundation but a few notches better than a BB Cream. In my experience, my T-zone becomes oily an hour or two after applying. But I've got extremely oily skin so unless I'm using Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation or MAC Studio Fix, oilies still creep up no matter what. Thick and creamy, almost gel-like consistency is a dream to blend into the skin. You can use either your fingers (make sure it's clean) or what I prefer most, a flat top brush.

And the best about the Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream is that it comes in 12 shades! I'm not exactly sure if they'd be carrying all shades here in the Philippines but it sure is a sigh of relief that we get to choose the shade that matches our skin. Something a BB Cream could hardly give us.

Here's a swatch of Natural Fair in a medium-fair skin tone.

And here's my nth try-out!

So in love with this CC Cream! I highly recommend it. In fact, I seriously am considering including this on my top 10 favorite foundations (albeit it isn't one!). See how already evens out my skin and I barely used concealer (under eyes and some seriously dark spots).

And it has SPF 30. That's practically cutting my morning routine in half! :)

Better get those little bums to the nearest Clinique (mine is in SM Aura! Yey!) and get a tube as it's out!

It's almost 11 in the evening... I have a 38.8 fever and my throat is sore. I'm watching a rerun of Grey's Anatomy while I play with Sims Freeplay on my brand-spanking new iPad 4. But despite all these, there's one thing I can't get my mind off....

I'm craving for Ilocos Empanada! But not just any Ilocos Empanada. I want the authentic one! For a while now, I've been on hunt for the real thing. One that reminds me of my hometown.

If you're hungry and have a hankering for something savory, you've been warned. It's gunna be all Empanada from here on!

First off, my prayers goes out to the families of the the 3 persons who was inside the Abenson delivery truck, the casualty of the recent shocking explosion at Serendra, around 8 p.m. last night  (May 31, 2013).

I was on my way home from my work at Bonifacio Global City, I was right at the bridge going to C5 from Market Market when an unusual news from my favorite station, Jam 88.3, came on. DJ announced that there was an explosion in Serendra Tower 2. At first, they speculated that it could be a vehicular accident. Later then it was confirmed that a unit at Serendra (unit 501) exploded causing the walls to collapse, hurting a passerby and crushing two vehicles. The explosion was so big that windows of nearby units and establishments in the area cracked from the noise.

What was suppose to be a happy payday Friday became a gruesome evening for those who chose Serendra that evening.

Come to think of it, I was suppose to go out and have drinks with a friend there last night! Who knows if our tired dispositions have brought us in that area... I can only thank God I chose to brave the C5 traffic and decided to forego my evening plans and stayed home instead.

But even at home, one can never be too safe... Case in point, the recent news!

This is one hell of a nightmare coming true for me. As a condo-dweller, one of the things that I am scared of is the fact that my gas range is a just a meter or two from my bedroom or the mere fact that I'm close to many things can easily blow up!

Upon hearing the news that gas explosion might be a possible reason for the incident that is currently rattling one of Manila's poshest district, scares me to no end. After all, I only live in a middle class condo development. Chances of it happening is much higher compared to one that is developed by Philippine's prime real estate developer!

That's why we all need to make sure we are safe. Turn the gas off before going to bed or right after cooking. Unplug appliances that are in use. Don't overcharge your gadget. And don't overexert an extension cord.

These are only a few steps that we can take in order to protect us. But I can only hope that there are safer (and cost-efficient) ways for a condo-dweller like me to prevent things like this from happening. :(

God bless to everyone. Stay safe!
