Falling in love with Summer as it slowly makes its presence aware. And though the heat makes most of us hate it, I can't deny that seeing some sunshine make me smile more. And you've got to agree that collections during Spring/Summer is sooo much more fun than Fall/Winter, right?

Take a look at what Theophile LeClerc whipped up for this year's 2013! Revival of the 1950's Pin-up Style that reminds me of Stepford Wives, Sailorettes and Panam Stewardesses.

T. LeClerc eyeshadow (Php995) is surprisingly pigmented. Etoile or star is a deep indigo blue that great for creating that false crease or just accentuating your lower lash line.

Marilyn is a great name for this T. LeClerc transparent lipstick (Php795). It's silky and pigmented and glides on easily. It has a bit of a sheen so it's not as true to the matte lipstick that 1950's ladies use to wear. But you'll love the moisturizing feel of this lipstick. Remember though to exfoliate your lips for a smoother application.

Another favorite is Essentiel, a subtle pink shade. Like Marilyn and the rest of the T. LeClerc Transparent Lipstick collection, the slight sheen provides gloss effect. Although this one settles on the lip lines, I suggest to exfoliating your lips for a smoother effect.

Loved by You Collection, inspired by 1950's Pin-Up Style is good idea to sport this Summer. There's nothing like red lipstick to attract more sunny smiles.

Loved by You Collection from T. LeCrec is now available at Rustan's Department Store.

Dear ladies from home-grown nail polish brand, Caronia is making sure that our nails are worthy of the Summer heat with their new Caronia Nail Polish "Expressions" Collection. Inpsired by the pastels and warm hues of the season, they arranged three shades that you'll love.

There's Rosy Glow, a soft cool pastel pink with a purple tint that inspires girly moods and tea in the afternoons. Fresh Mint, a light pastel green that invites love for nature and excursion especially this season. And of course, the very popular Blue Chill, pale blue frosty shade that seeims to mimic the slow waves of the beach water.

Summer is that time of the month that you just want your skin to look flawless and beautiful. No pimple marks, redness and definitely no rashes. This is the season when we want less makeup to put on and bare more skin… Oi vey! Ain’t that just a tough job? #wootwoot

Thank God Muji introduced this summer their Beauty line. And though known for their minimalist interiors and organizers, Muji sees the skin much like they see a bare room, a chance to invite beauty in the simplest way.

And if you have sensitive skin like I do, you’re in for a treat. Meet Muji Sensitive Skin Series brings us back to the basics of skin care.

What I love about this line

  • It makes caring for the skin simple especially for those dealing with sensitive skin such as redness or quick allergic reaction.
  • The line is paraben, alcohol and fragrance-free which helps in lessening skin reaction
  • Cleansing oil effectively removes all dirt and grime and acts a facial wash
  • Light toner provides deeper cleansing without stinging the skin. It feels like water, if you ask me.
  • Moisturizing milk is lightweight and easily-absorbed to the skin.

Major ingredients include Grapefruit Seed Extract and Portulaca Oleracea.

Grapefruit Seed is an effective anti-oxidant and even acts a natural preservative to keep your products fresher for longer.

Portulaca Oleracea contains vitamin A, C, E and co-enezyme Q10 which is great for hydrating the skin. More so, it’s a known natural remedy for melasma and psoriasis.

But wait there’s more! Muji also added new products to their body care. There’s the new Body Milk, Body Scrub and Hand Cream in interesting and skin caring variants such as Shea Butter, Verbana and Breton Seaweed.

Here’s what MUJI has to say about their new stuff..

  • Breton Seaweed is a natural marine wonder with anti-ageing agents that also revitalizes and moisturizes the skin. It leaves the skin fresh and glowing due to the phytonutrients that stimulates proper blood flow.
  • Shea Butter is a popular skincare ingredient that encourages the skin’s collagen production to restore its balance and elasticity and to minimize stretch marks. Ideal for dry, cracking skin, shea butter has a rich moisturizing component to keep the skin tight yet soft.
  • Verbena has relaxing properties that eliminates exhaustion and stress. It is known for its fresh, calming aroma, with oils that have antiseptic agents.

My favourite, Verbena! Bathing has been a sweet escape in the evenings with these as part of my nightly rituals. But I heard that Shea Butter is quite popular especially to the ladies who like to keep their skin soft and supple. As for me, I like to keep skin soft and my sanity intact. So I choose relaxing Verbana to help me de-stress from all the workload at the office.

MUJI has become a cult favourite for many people, present company included, to help them live a simple minimalist life. It’s only lately that I finally set my foot down and go for living a life less complicated.

Nope, the Summer heat hasn’t gotten to my head. I just figured that I could use a little simple in my life. Less clutter and more space don’t hurt anyone. J And though it proves to be a challenge for beauty maven like me, glad to know MUJI is there to keep things simple, neat and above quality for me.

Make sure you’re Summer-ready with these new MUJI Beauty goodies!

Live the MUJI life!

Yesterday, I got a chance to see the new Laura Mercier 2013 Summer Collection, Folklore. Inspired by South and Central American Civilization, Laura came up with rich-hues bronze and sumemr hues for this year's collection. You'll notice that the textures and shades will remind you of Aztec ruins, clothing and jewels. A nice break from the florals of the season. Do I see nods of agreement? :)

This year's Laura Mercier Spring Summer collection brings you sun-kissed glow, bronzed skin, puckered-up lips and hint of aqua. It's one of the loveliest collection I've seen lately. :)

Illuminating Eye Color in Sun Glow, Earth Glow and Fire Glow (Php995)

Lip Crayons in Mayan, Folklore, Burnt Clay (Php995)

Faux Lash (Php995) and Long Lash Mascara (Php895)

Creme Eye Liner in Canard and Cobalt (Php995)

Baked Blush Bronze (Php1550)

I'm very much interested in the Cobalt Creme Liner and Earth Glow Illuminating Eye Colour. What's your pick?

Laura Mercier Folklore Collection is now available at your favorite Laura Mercier boutiques and counters.

thinksound Rain in Black Chocolate

Music the way it was meant to be heard.
thinksound™ rain headphones were designed with true audiophiles in mind. These beautiful, powerful earphones feature a 9mm high-definition driver that makes your favorite music sound “not just crisp, but downright orchestral-sounding” (Boston Phoenix).
The same attention to detail is showcased on the outside, with PVC-Free cables and a hand-crafted wooden housing that doesn’t just look good, but enhances performance, creating a sound that’s “less digital and a little more natural than what you’d get from standard earbuds made of metal or plastic” (Beatweek).
Offered in a rich Silver Cherry or Black Chocolate finish, every pair comes with a cotton carrying pouch, and four sets of ear fittings to ensure a perfect fit.

To say that I love these in-earphones is an understatement. I don't claim to be all Mariah Carey in knowing pitch, bass or whatever but I know a good earphones when I use one.... And the Thinksound Rain is definitely unmatched when it comes to it's performance. It gives that clean pure sound that made me rethink the way I listen to music and of course, watching my shows.

I've been road testing the ThinkSound Rain (Php2,950) for more than a week now and I don't think I can stop using this. Despite the high price tag that these pair has, I can't see no reason now not to pick this up and never use another headphones. The clear cut sound make listening to music a lot more fun. From my Nirvana to Aerosmith, from Backstreet Boys to Boyz II Men... most especially from Adelle to Mariah Carey. The sound was so good, I didn't even realize I was singing too loudly

Purist will certainly love this and won't mind paying the price as it's made with earth-friendly materials of PVC-free cable and of course, wood. It's beautifully designed in my opinion. It's a lot prettier in person than in photos. Don't even consider the box when trying to decide to get this, you're not buying these earphones for the packaging or the canvas pouch. You're getting this for the craftmanship and great audio quality.

If you follow me on Instagram, I posted this and got a lot of feedback and likes. (Thank YOU!)

So these are what you'll get, 3 more silicon ear inserts. so far they've got the smallest size which fits my ear like a dream)
Cable clip
Canvas pouch

If you can spare Php2,950, I suggest picking this up.. especially if you've been investing in your other gadgets... don't scrimp on your in-earphones!

Thinksound Rain is available at Astrovision/Astroplus Automatic Center, Avant, Beyond The Box, Bratpack, Greenbelt 5, Buzz, Complex, Digital Hub, Digital Walker, Egghead, Electroworld, Gadgets in Style, GUI, iCenter iGig, iStudio, Mobile 1, Odyssey, Power Hub, Republik, ROX, Switch, Technoholics, Urban Athletics, Additekh, Banana Telecom

Last week was a whirlwind of happenings that had me constantly on my feet. I have never been this busy and I really am quite unsure whether to feel blessed or tortured. Mixed feeling, indeed. Despite the age of 29 I still feel like that 18 year old girl who constantly surprises myself with what she can accomplish.

One of the things that calms me when I have a full schedule is the thought of being in the beach watching the moonlight glisten in the water as I sit and have a refreshing mojito. Another of course is when I get to do my makeup in the morning.. and I was blessed last Thursday when I had a chance to whip out my Urban Decay Book of Shadow from Grace!

Playing with the inspiration of nature and the beach, I chose blue and green as eyeshadows and smoked it a bit for the evening event I was to attend later on that evening. It also matched well with my black top and mint skirt from Forever 21.

As always, accentuating the eyes are important to pull off a colorful smokey eyes. Line the eyes and load up on the mascara. Of course, I used my reliable Maybelline Eyestudio Gel Liner and my current favorite mascara, Fairydrops Platinum Film Type (review coming up soon!).

Are there days that makeup is enough to cheer you on? Let's talk about it at the comment section below!

Jokingly called the pa-innocent look, simple looks has been a fave choice for me lately. Work has not given me a lot of time to work on my makeup artistry skills or to play with colors. But that's alright. At the end of the day, what's important is I still get to play with my makeup... Hmm.. make that beginning of the day since I never leave the house without making sure I have makeup on. :) At the very least, cover my dark circles and do my brows.

There's nothing like a nice pair of jeans and onesies. Can you believe that some of the clothes I'm wearing in are at least 3 or 4 years old? The Forever21 floral print onesies, I got when it first opened here in the Philippines. The jeans, much older since I got it when Promod invited us to their store in 2009 or 2010. It does pay to choose timeless pieces that you can mix and match as years go by and still making it work for the current trend.

And since I'm not the type to care if I keep on wearing the same clothes everyday, I don't mind showing this outfit. I also think  it's inspiring that I get to show you how I wear the same clothes and mix and matching them with the rest of the stuff I own.

Do you also have clothes from years back?

The blazer I got a year ago from F21 when their Mall of Asia store opened. The belt was a gift from SM Accessories. The So! Fab shoes are replacements for the worn out ones I've used for nearly a year. :)

Blazers are such a staple for me. Even before it became popular back around 2 or 3 years ago, I've been sporting them with jeans and heels (sometimes flats) in Law School. I just love how it instantly improves an outfit making it appropriate for work or events. When in doubt, I pair it with a blazer.

Slim belts are definitely a staple for petite girls like me. Not only does it gives an illusion that we are slimmer, it also makes us look taller all with it being proportion with our height. And getting them in tan or earth shades gives it more mileage.

love the gold details in these shoes and it's only php799!

As for the shoes, you can count on me to always choose nude or shades similar to it, it's the best shade for all sorts of outfit. When it comes to shoes, I try to keep it low key and easy to match with so I get my money's worth. :)

How do you choose your shoes? For functionality or just coz they're pretty?

Much like my beauty products, I like to have a lot of uses when it comes to my gadgets. Since getting my iPhone 5 from Smart last Friday, I found that I can maximize it's use by pairing it with devices. One of which is the popular Braven 570 (Php4,450). A portable wireless bluetooth speaker.

Like I said, I like functionality and Braven 570 is exactly that.

Not only is it sleek and light, it also does the following:
  • Act as speakers, via bluetooth and 3.5mm jack
  • Built-in speaker phones to receive calls hand-free
  • (imagine doing the same thing as that Smart TV Ad but with your phone rather than computer)
  • Charger using the USB port (1200 mAh)
  • Playtime up to approximately 10 hours
  • It's made from impact-resistant material that it can take a lot of beating
  • It's portable, you can bring it anywhere.

On the right side of the Braven 570 you'll find the following:
  • On/Off button
  • Speakerphone
  • Volume buttons (act as track forward and backward when you press and hold)
  • Line in for non-bluetooth devices (iPod shuffle, nano, etc.)
  • Mini USB in is for charging the device (provided in the box of course)

On the left side, you'll have the following:
  • Battery-check light and button (white: 100-50%; blue: 50-10%; red: 10% to 0%)
  • Line Out for additional Braven speaker should you want more sound
  • USB port for charging your phones of other devices

See how tiny it is?

I love watching my shows and I tried hooking this up to my TV and computer and it worked flawlessly inside my almost 20 sqm. room. We watched American Idol and Saving Private Ryan using this speaker and the sound quality is great. Thanks to its HD audio quality. And yes, the bass is equally fantastic.

And the whole time I was taking picture of this, it was playing and the sound didn't give out despite the noise down at the pool and the openness of our balcony. I got to enjoy the music of Lisa Loeb, Third Eye Blind and Skee-lo. It's my favorite speakers to date and that's saying a lot since I'm a big fan of Soundfreaq's Sound Kick.

Given it's portability, lightweight along with how tiny it is and still provides an HD audio quality has kicked taken the spot of SoungKick.

And it's a few hundrends cheaper, too!

If you like the Braven 570 (Php3,950), you can get them at the following stores: Beyond the Box, Digital Hub, Digital Walker, i Sstudio, Astrovision, Astroplus, iCenter-Cebu, Powerhub-Cebu

Leave it to Majolica Majorca to yet again come up with a great mascara. Part of their latest collection, Secret Blink, I just love the new sister of Lash Expander Frame Plus Mascara, the Lash Expander Edge Meister (Php795).

Loved for it's consistent fibers, the Lash Expander Edge Meister do not disappoint with longer lash-lengthening fibers and glossy finish. Compared to its big sister, Edge Meister is now also has a relatively shorter dual-comb brush that reach better on shorter lashes. Of course, it also has vitamin E and macadamia oil to help care for the lashes.

The wand always makes a great reason why one should get this mascara. It does look intimidating at first but once you get the hang of it, you'll appreciate it's ingenuity.

The longer comb spans the lashes and delivers the glossy formula and microfibers to separate and lengthen the lashes. The shorter reaches at the far corner lashes and sparse one.

What to love about Lash Expander Edge Meister?

How it lengthens the lashes without the clumps and thickness.
It always gives a natural finish without overpowering the eye makeup look
Great for everyday use (it's water, sweat, oil and tear-proof!)

What's not to love?

Nothing! I just love this mascara. Albeit not as cheap compared to other mascaras, I prefer using this one.

Comparing it though to my 2012 favorite mascara, Lash King from the same brand, I still prefer the latter for high-impact lashes as it's the best to give me that false lash effect effortlessly.

Majolica Majorca Secret Blink Collection is now available at your favorite Majolica Majorca Counter. Mine is at SM Megamall, Building B.

Ask me to go to the beach and I would always say yes,

Exactly what I did when Nivea Philippines peeps asked me to join them at their Nivea Summer Blast at Puerto Princesa, Palawan. The instant I said yes, my mind was already lounging by the shore, sipping mojitos.

Can you believe that just a few days before our trip, I got sick? I had to rush all the tests I needed to do to make sure I was fit to travel. My doctor in the end, encouraged the out of town trip and said to consider this a long overdue vacation.

I can only nod with agreement. Not to mention that Palawan was in my bucket list of places to visit. And being the anti-travel that I am, that is saying a lot. Want to more about my trip, read on!

As far as I can remember, I have always had long hair. I did became a little adventurous here and there and cut my hair short from time to time, once in college and once in high school but would always run back to the longer tresses. With long hair, you get to do a lot of things and I since I started to learn how to curl my hair, I vowed to keep this mane Rapunzel-like as long as I could.

But damn is my hair too thick, it's such a pain. I hate it sometimes. For years, I've always opted to have it rebonded (in-salon chemical hair straightening procedure) to make it easier to manage and for it to feel lighter. It weighs down my head and can often be a source of headache. I'd resort to having it pony-tailed or in a messy bun just so I can live with it.

My hair care maintenance would always consist of straightening and making sure it tames my Merida-ish frizz, from shampoos, conditioners to my hair serums.

So who would have thought that I would love the NEW Kersatase Cristalliste Bain Cristal Thick Shampoo?

Totally surprised myself here since I barely need volume. But having had introduction to the basic hair styling, volume and frizziness are two different things, my ladies. Shampoo can often be the cause of hair dryness and what could possibly be the beginning of split ends. Lately, since getting my hair permed, I learned to choose only shampoos that are SLS and paraben-free, Kerastase Cristalliste is exactly that. It doesn't weigh my hair down unlike cheap shampoos out there and my hair looks a lot healthier than it really is.

And since using this shampoo, I notice that my curls are way bouncier and my hair has got a more vavavoom volume making my efforts to curl my hair a lot more worth it.

Although they say that this shampoo is great for virgin hair (hair that isn't marred with chemical treatments), glad to say that it works well even with my very much chemical-ridden hair. I use this along with the Keratase Elixir Ultime serum and my hair just love it.

Kerastase Cristalliste comes with variants good for both fine or thick hair, so you've got your choices handed out to you. If you've been suffering from dry limp hair with oily roots, I advise grabbing this line and let your hair try out.

In short, if you have oily scalp and roots but have dry end then the Kerastase Cristalliste is the range for you.

Beauty Trivia: Did you know that Kerastase Cristalliste is inspired by the Blake Lively's long mane of her character in Gossip Girl, Serena Vanderwoodsen. Her hair has been coveted by many of us and we've got to admit we've tried copying it. And though we know that it took a lot of hairstyling to get to those locks, we envy how effortless it looks.

Here's Estee Lauder Pure Color Sheer Matte Lipstick in Rebel from their latest Spring-Summer collection, Pretty Naughty. It's a frosty cool toned pink that reminds me of those 80's lipstick. I've been this shade sported by Dr. Mindy of the series, The Mindy Project. Kind of reminds you of the 80's which makes you think that it may be indeed coming back full blast this year. :)

Although I'm a no frost girl, I can't deny how good the glide of the Sheer Matte Lipstick is. And even if it settles on my lip lines, the staying power is very impressive. I read that there are tugging feel when applying this but I didn't feel it. It actually swiped very well on my lips. Transfer is minimal. I advise that you exfoliate your lips well and get rid of clinging dry skin before swiping this on, or any other matte lipstick at that.

Another plus is that it is not as drying as I expected it to be, given it's matte texture.

I'm not exactly sure why this is a sheer matte as well, since the shade, Rebel, is extremely opaque.

Will I buy another Estee Lauder Sheer Matte Lipstick? Naked seems to be an interesting shades and I'm intrigued with the other shades. Unfortunately, the frosty finish is putting me off. I'm quite torn if I should pick up another given that matte is not something I like to sport during Summer.

Get the new Estee Lauder Sheer Matte Lipstick at your favorite Estee Lauder counters in the Philippines.
